To be honest, I went to the same middle school with Xavier Townsend in 7th grade. Not even kidding. I kinda forgot about him until I end up seeing him on TV like there's no way he made it so far. I'm proud to see how well he's doing in football. Also wish this man the best in college too!

Fast forward 3 years we had a terrible o-line and he was a better player but averaged 4.3 yards a carry and 65 a game. He never got a college scholarship because he wasn’t as good as everyone thought. This young man is fast but I haven’t seen him run through contact like he will have to on the next level. It doesn’t mean he can’t but…

I played HS football with Larry Fitz, Townsend reminds me of how dominant Larry was. Larry also played cb in HS.
When people make comments like this it always kills me. Comments like this are asinine to put it as politely as possible. To say that a kid who is in HIGH SCHOOL is a future Hall of Famer is beyond a preposterous claim to make even if you're talking about the NCAA College Football HOF. He's playing the sport with the shortest average span of a career out of all the major sports. The things that have to fall into place and and the coaching, the players that he is surrounded with, his own decision making skills on AND off the field along with the type of character and morals and sense of self responsibility with work ethic along with being in the right environment making it the right fit along with not having any major injuries in a sport where injuries are as common as common can be along with a thousand other things that has to go in his favor is what it's gonna take for a HOF career. So to say that he's a future HOFmer is a claim where the odds of it happening are probably worse than you winning the Powerball lottery. Plus being a team sport being super talented can only take one so far. You think Emmitt Smith would have had the career he had if he didn't have that incredibly athletic and monstrous 300LB plus offensive line just to name one example?? There's no way in hell if he was on a team with say 29th ranked O-line in the league at the time. They made holes that you could drive a U-Haul through for him. Of course he was an incredibly skilled and driven player as well but like I said that wouldn't have had the same results on the 29th ranked O-line compared to the number one ranked. That O-line played a HUGE part in the making of his HOF career. So this kid will need that along with the stars and planets lining up in so many other ways as well to make him have a HOF career as well. Nobody should EVER say that a kid in high school is destined to have a HOF career. It's not only asinine like I said but things like that being said and if they are said by enough people where it makes its way back to the young man being the topic of discussion just adds unfair and unrealistic and unnecessary pressure on a young person that already has enough pressure to not only live up to the on field hype but the pressure to succeed in the classroom and the pressure to think smart and make the right decisions and say the right things off the field in this world where they are always under a microscope and where everyone has a camera and capabilities to make a video on their phone.
He’s good, yes. Underrated, yes. But hall of famer? This was probably the best game he had last year. He’ll probably be a good player if he stays healthy. I worry about his size when he gets to the collegiate level.

My former QBs from my high school went to UT , TCU , and Texas A&M and all of them were 4 stars and they all threw for around 3500 yards and had around 35+ all purpose TDs and went to camps. He’s a 5 star and can’t even play good against decent comp😭😭😭

What I said is nothing like saying Lamar isn't a QB. I'm saying RB is the worst position to play because its the most brutal with the shortest avg playing career. They get abused in college with a lot of carries, and by the time they make it into the NFL, teams squeeze the final 2-3 years on their shitty rookie contract before being dumped. Very very few get that second generational wealth contract. I get that some players are only skilled for RB and they should continue to pursue that, but if he is skilled at DB, he should switch to that for his career.
Absolutely true. In the NFL, Rbs are a dime a dozen. They get hurt at a higher rate. They get dumped at a higher rate. But if you develop as a shutdown corner you are gold. Even really good college CBs can count on having a decent chance at being drafted and having a productive NFL career. I wonder if anyone is advising Townsend? He could commit as a CB and maybe be used under center in a wild cat formation. Plus he could run back kicks and punts as a CB. But who knows he could end up being the next Christian McCaffery. But even CM gets hurt a lot. And look at Zeke's situation in Dallas. Everyone screaming for Tony Pollard to replace him as the main RB. So much for the greatness of Zeke Elliot.

I tell ya'll one thing.... If Berkeley had a decent quarterback with a stronger arm, this game would've been really ugly! That interception Newman had in the first quarter was because of the lack of arm strength of Berkeley's quarterback under throwing the deep ball to Xavier, that he clearly had to comeback to catch that allowed the corner to catch up and pull the ball from him! And another deep ball that was underthrown to Xavier in the third quarter too!
