im gonna be honest with you, just made this, best hot choclate i've had in a long time
I just tried it tonight for my mother, my sister and me and it was absolutely PERFECT! I managed to make a really good looking dark brown hot cocoa (which I have failed for years because I was literally putting only cocoa powder with milk and it wasn't as dark looking as the one I made with this recipe). It's really simple to make and you can even heat the milk in the microwave like I did if you prefer! I topped it with some whipped cream and some chocolate chips and it was the best hot cocoa I've ever had! I won't go back to my old way for sure, thank you so much for this recipe!
Still going strong! The cocoa powder in my pantry was already “sweetened” so I just skipped the sugar step. If the “pudding” you make tastes delicious-you’re ready to go! Three tablespoons did the trick. And if you’re outside looking at stars you can’t go wrong with adding a 1/4tsp of instant espresso. Cheers for using home ingredients!
Best method/ recipe I've found! Looks like what my dad made only in a pot for multiple servings. Only he added a splash of vanilla & pinch of salt.❤️

i like how this recipe is so simple yet produces wonderful result. I used palm sugar instead of white sugar, added a few drops of vanilla and some whipped cream on top. It tasted amazing. Much much better than the hot chocolate I ordered at the coffee shops.
I like it sweet so instead of 1 tbsp of sugar I used 3 and only 2 tbsp of bitter cocoa powder and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to be, sweet and rich.

Everyone relax! In order for homemade hot cocoa to reach its maximum flavor potential, you MUST let your faucet run the entire time. Unfortunately he forgot to mention this as the key ingredient!
we have been making hot cocoa-like this for years back in the Caribbean. Even added condensed milk for sweetening.

Great recipe! Definitely going to try this. I love the idea of having the cocoa powder in the pantry. Far more economical and healthier than the other options such as the instant packaged stuff. Yuk. This is great to have in a food supply as a type of thing to cheer up a person on a cold winter day and if you can't get out of your house for a period of time. Definitely stocking my pantry.

Tip: you should first say what you will need, a mug, sugar, cocoa powder and milk.
And next say heat up the milk and then show how to make the paste and add in the milk

You need to add a tiny pinch of salt to that chocolate mixture to bring out the flavor. Unsweetened cocoa powder has no salt in it.
Never! It is a redundand ingredient. I drink unsweetened hot cocoa without it, and it turns delicious and beautiful. Salt is just an unnecessary ingredient that alters the taste of cocoa.

@@Mr.56Goldtop Honestly, I don't care. I will drink hot cocoa without salt and sugar (and completely unsweetened). It will be bitter, and I enjoy in bitterness of cocoa. Many people say that salt is a flavour enhancer, but this doesn't work for me. Salt just ruins the flavour and chocolate with sea salt tastes offensive and unappetizing. Salty chocolate tastes offensive.

This is a great idea for hot chocolate. I’m going to try it with a little salt, cinnamon, and vanilla extract added. I’ve been making hot chocolate with 70% dark chocolate and high fat milk but your idea is so much faster and it looks delicious.
