What did he tell that random stranger?
"There is tea on the moon."
Underrated!
yeah they totally said that. No comments. This is too true.
he said that the Moon is technically an island

I like how drew talks about the relations between france and uk when at that point in history the main french thing was to annoy the austrians, if austrians and english would be fighting france would've always allied the austrian enemy
Wasn't that because of the habsburg's hegemony over Europe? Or is my time periods off here
@@fredriknumse8991 yes it was , france even allied with the protestans in the 30 years war just to oppose the austrians
@@fredriknumse8991 Yeah ,because France was surrounded by Hasburg ,Spain and Austria ,and the Archiducs of Austria was also the Emperor of the H.R.E
And the. in WWI, The English bombed ships of their ally France, so the Germans couldn’t capture them, instead of them finding a way to help France or let the French fight to the last man and ship, they had demo teams to blow them up to prevent capture.
It’s British planes and yes they did, after sending an ultimatum to sail out of port either to join the British navy or to a neutral port.
The french refused because to them their government has surrendered and they didn’t want to fight or see the Free France movement as legitimate. Ultimately Britain wouldn’t allow Germany or Italy to use the French navy in the Atlantic and Mediterranean wars and sunk them.

No it's not Churchill's son he was called Mad Jack because he fought WW2 with a Longbow and a sword
Dude was an absolute legend
And played a bagpipe during battles
Drew: Is Jack Churchill Churchill's son?
Germans: we think so
incase you don't know Jack Churchill otherwise known as "Mad Jack" was the single most badass mf in history. This guy used a sword and a bow to fight off Germans while playing music on his bagpipe.
The German captured him during the war thinking that he was related to prime minister Churchill, however he survived the war.
Once the war finished Jack wanted to fight on the eastern front against japan, but the American already dropped the bomb on them ending the war, thus leading Jack to say his most famous line "If it wasn’t for those damn Yanks, we could have kept the war going another 10 years!".
However he did have other quotes that are also famous like “Any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed.” and “People are less likely to shoot at you if you smile at them.”.

The sun never rises on the British empire
BTW for anyone wondering, the pic is from the comic book _Ministry of Space_ by Warren Ellis
The reason the Mexican Empire would be on the Confederate side is bc it's leader Maximilian l. was the brother of Franz-Joseph, the Austrian leader and in that universe Austria apparently is on the Confederate side
also 2nd Mexican Empire if I'm correct was a French puppet state so it makes sense it will fight against the union
Also it makes sense that the Monarchy-based governments (especially colonialist and imperialist governments) support the Extreme Right-wing ideals/governments and slavery…
Doesn't make any sense, Austria was the most catholic empire at the time, they would never be on side with the confederates
It is just a hypothetical idea it's not real
I personally also wouldn't have put Austria on the Confederate side, since we abolished slavery in 1812
All I was meant to say was that it makes sense that they and the Mexican empire are on the same side
Prussia and Russia are literally on the side of the U.S, not to mention Britain and France had banned slavery whilst Russian still treated most of its people as slaves.
Man in the High Castle was a phenomenal show. Still sad that Amazon cancelled it
9:50 I think we should tell drew the French and British had already served together in the Crimean war and supported the confederates more than he thinks
6:00 Jack Churchill was a guy who fought in North Africa, Italy, and France during WWII. He was armed with a claymore (the sword) and a set of bagpipes. He was not Scottish, and is of no relation to Winston Churchill. He won a war medal for capturing a German bunker. By himself. With his sword.
He was the best soldier of all of World War II. You left out his motorcycle and long boat.🫡
Drew: it's baja california, shouldn´t it be ours
Mexico: WELL YO HAVE OF 2 CALIFORNIAS, SHOULDNT CALIFORNIA BE MIO?
California: NO ITS MINE, ME INDEPENDENT AND BAJA CALIFORNIA MINE.
Japan: lol, Nishi coast mine
9:38 context: the Mexican Republic (led by Benito Juárez) was being invaded by france, france was invading mexico to try and re-establish mexican monarchy in it, the 2nd Mexican Empire (led by Maximillian) was also heavily supported by the french to gain control over ALL of mexico, this war was also taking place at the same time as the American civil war, the reason why the Liberals (the ones who supported the republic) won agaisnt the conservatives (the ones who supported the mexican empire) was because once the United states got their stuff together, they supported the Liberals, as they didnt want any european involvement in the Americas, in this timeline, the Mexican republic might fall due to the US being busy

1 minute 25 seconds, Harry turtledove wrote A series to this exact premise. And as for the Baja California part, apparently as far as I'm aware the guy that US Government sent to deal with the Mexicans pretty much decided under his own volition what to take from Mexico.
Jack Churchill got the only confirmed kill in WW2 with a bow and arrow. He stormed defenses playing bagpipes, he was known as Mad Jack, germans didn't want to kill him as they assumed he was related to Winston Churchill, so capture was authorized. However he wasn't related, but he def was mad.

Ok, I am going to pull a well actually: well actually, the independentist army of Italy, in the figure of general Garibaldi, considered helping with the civil war after a letter from President Lincoln asking for strategic guidance. That never happened because Garibaldi wanted a clear stance about abolishing slavery from the north in order to intervene in the conflict.
“The Dutch didn’t participate in the fall of Japan”
As a Dutch person with relatives who fought in WW2 this actually makes me kinda sad and reminds me of how everyone forgets about the Dutch efforts and victories on the pacific front

If Freddie Mercury was the PM, Elizabeth II would no longer be known as the Queen...
That quote at the 5-minute mark was by mad Jack Churchill
2:46 That's the flying glove from Yellow Submarine!
The Titanic's sinking and mass loss of life was startlingly and almost solely caused by human error. If the binoculars hadn't been locked up, if there had been enough lifeboats, if the captain hadn't ran the ship at full speed, if the captain hadn't continued sailing after the crash (which would have prevented more water from rushing in at the pace it was), any one of these could have prevented the sheer loss of life that was seen on that day.
03:43 Kennedy survives an assassination attempt? I got just three word to say: Tikka to Ride
2:49 It is called the invisible hand of the market, you philistine! And nowadays it works overtime on a superspun Jupiter timetable. And Jack Churchill is a madlad that brings a sword to a gunfight and wins.
The “What if we won every war” one has an oddly specific date in the corner 💀
Make another alternate video this. Nice video.
12:00 It took Nazi invasion to force metric system to US
9:24 there's a lot of interesting history going on here.
IRL in their own civil war the Second Mexican Empire was supported by the French (the Empire was largely a proxy of France), Austrians (the Emperor was an Archduke of Austria), Belgians (the Empress was a Princess of Belgium), Egypt (volunteers and Sudanese slave soldiers), and the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia, as well as Spain and Britain from 1861-1862, and eventually both Confederate and Polish Exiles. The Mexican Republic, and the war's eventual victor, was supported by the United States.
I'd assume Russia is on here for two reasons, the first being that the Polish exiles would have come from the Polish National Government of 1863-1864, while the second is the fact that during the American Civil War America served as Russia's warm water port, with Russia even having ships in American harbors during the conflict.
Prussia and the Kingdom of Italy would be tied up in conflicts with Austria at around this time (1860s-1870), so would definitely be likely to associate their wars with the conflicts in North America if they thought it beneficial.
No idea why the Ottomans are on the opposite side of the conflict that the United Principalities inhabited IRL, but I'm assuming it has something to do with Russian influence.
The last one is the perfect scenario.
1:06 I would like to point out that the text on the left still reads “People’s Republic of China”. It would’ve been nice to see it read “Republic of China” (中華民國).
11:29
Ironically, the evasion maneuver attempted by the Titanic's captain was, what let it sink. Because of the evasive maneuver, the iceberg ripped the Titanic's side open. A head on collision wouldn't have caused the ship to sink.
Actually it's believe the side never ripped open. They think the rivets holding the steel plates together buckled from the impact. Basically the ship yard used cheaper material for them to save on cost.
@@gotioify
Okay, I've never heard about that.
But effectively, it doesn't make a difference if the steel plates or the rivets failed. The outcome is the same. Too many of the Titanic's internal compartments were damaged and subsequently flooded.
In case of a head on collision with the iceberg, the Titanic would have still taken significant damage, but it wouldn't have been so catastrophic.
Actually, it was the first officer who gave the orders that doomed the ship. The captain wasn't on the bridge at the time of the collision.
Maybe jt would maybe it wouldn't.

About Russian Empire supporting USA in Civil war - that is much more than "they joined USA because Britain joined CSA". Russian Empire at that time was ruled by Tsar Alexandr II "The Liberator", who was known as one of the most liberal monarchs not just in Russia, but in entire Europe, supporting quite lot of democratic and liberal reforms (including abandoning of sefdom, free press, education for everyone, freedom of political thought, free universities, reform of militarry structure, huge development of local government system and of court system, and etc.), even though not all of his reforms were done in an effective way. And Alexander supported the northerners in that conflict from the very beginning, in addition to be opposed to British Empire.
Moreover, Russian Empire sent two fleets to New York and Sann Francisco in case if British would decide to attack it - and Russian Empire announced that if Britain or France would directly attack USA, Russia would declare war on Britain. So in that scenario of First World War coming from American Civil War it would start exactly from those events - Britain in their support of CSA would attack USA, Russia declares war on Britain, France supports Britain and declares war on USA and Russia - Prussia joins it on USA and Russia's side, and etc.
