Mounting Between Points
In this assembly, the piece is drilled at both ends with a centering bit, and the plate is removed
of the spindle, a lathe point is placed in the Morse taper hole of the machine shaft. The
The left end rests on that point and is held by a drive flange, which engages with the smooth drive plate, making the assembly rotate.
The other end rests at a point on the tailstock. In this way, the part is suspended on the bed, allowing longitudinal machining without losing concentricity, since it is enough to change the end of the flange and turn the part. The alignment between the perforations made at its ends is not lost.
Observations:
It must be verified that the piece is firmly adjusted to the flange, so that it does not slip, and the
tailstock
correctly locked with its two brakes, on the bench and the one that fixes the position of the
sleeve.
Observe that the pivot point is constantly rotating in the
machining.
Moving the carriage to the right must not push the
tailstock.
Take special care with the swivel area of the flange, so that it does not catch or hit
any.
