While building a wind farm in the south of Chile, Adam Bruce discovers the multiple facets of his ancestor, not only as a warrior and audacious strategist, ahead of his time, but also as an inventor, agriculturist and romantic hero, who inspired novels, movies and a poem of Pablo Neruda. A genuine, 100% overlooked hero.....his story is simply awe-inspiring. The fact that he has been overlooked by the powers-that-be, show how much he was feared by the establishment, and how they fear his kind of popular, no-bullshit hero. The world would be a better place with more genuine people like Thomas. I named my son after him, with massive respect to his achievements, leadership, honesty and heroism. What a guy.
He may have been "discharged" from the Royal Navy in disgrace but even to this day the main Naval Base in Scotland (just outside Edinburgh) is still called HMS Cochrane! Civilians may forget him, the Navy doesn't forget their own, especially when he was a good officer
Scottish and British Hero.
