    George Orwell teaches you how to write with density in his seminal work, Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984). Storytelling techniques from a much misunderstood novel.

      But 12-hour clocks aren't truth. They're an agreed-upon convention.

      Working on my second novel now, the more I just write and learn from videos like this, the more I can see the flaws in my writing, or at least the opportunities to grow. First learning to see it, then learn to create 😊

    Come. Haunted mansions want the living back.
    Our breath a password at the gothic doors.
    The butler’s phantom in the kitchen laughs,
    remembering the maid he once adored.
    Their favorite room includes a view of us;
    the living on their bellies on the lawn.
    Their faces youthful in reunion blush.
    Her duster on his shoulder, arm in arm.
    Somehow we might resemble both of them;
    they in the attic hand in hand slowdance
    in what the spiders’ cobwebs represent;
    those long forgotten couples understand.
    In books and films we’ve climbed such haunted stairs.
    Come! See them dance before they disappear

    This channel is great (subscribed!) but quite frankly I would prefer to have it on Spotify.
    The visuals add nothing at all to the text. Nothing whatsoever.
    I listen to your mini-lectures, and for technical reasons, and have not seen the point of your images, which surely must have taken a lot of time to produce.

      Hi PB. Thaks for following. To be honest, the video editing is indeed, time-consuming, but we're in the business of video essays and without the visual aspect it fails on CZcams. It might be an idea to upload onto spotify, but I'm not sure how much traction we'll get on there. Perhaps something worth looking into. I appreciate your contributions. Thanks for sharing with us! 🙌🏼

      @@TheWrittenWorldSubscribeNow sure. If you want to have a moving image you could also just face the camera or have the text animated, etc.
      I'm not sure how Spotify works as for "spreading the word", and unfortunately they don't have a comment section yet, but it would be a good addition or alternative.
      Thanks for doing your videos though. This one and the Hemingway/Faulkner are absolutely great. Checking the other ones now 🙂

    By this description then Orwell is not a very good writer. I already thought he wasn’t all that, but a 24-hour clock would be more laissez fairs because each hour has less detail. A 12 hour clock provides a lot more control because it controls each hour in more detailed increments. This means that this opening line already shows a plot hole. Are we sure this is the interpretation we want to go with?
