The gentleman in the white Kurta is abasolutely right. I am from Bihar and can't speak my native dialect, though I can fully comprehend it. All languages and associated culture need to be preserved. What is commonly understood as Hindi, is actually spoken as a native dialect by very few people - perhaps just a district or two in UP.
What is your mother tongue ?

Very interesting. Please increase coverage of south. I was in Bangalore during anti-Hindi movement in 1960s. Though, people of TN were against imposition of Hindi, they were not against north or north Indians. Many of my tamil speaking friends and class fellows had strong opposition to the imposition of Hindi, our friendship remained un-dented.
