  • A Taste of Jamaican Agriculture -
Today, we're taking a tropical trip to explore the wonders of Jamaican agriculture with our dear friend Tony. He owns a beautiful agricultural tourism experience called Seven Rivers Attractions in Saint James, Jamaica.
Bananas are a staple in many cultures, and Jamaica is no exception. But have you ever wondered how these bright yellow beauties come to be? The banana plant isn't actually a tree, but a giant herb! It starts as a small corm (like a bulb), which sends up a single, non-woody "pseudostem" that looks like a trunk. From this "trunk," long, green leaves unfurl, and eventually, a flower bud emerges. This bud then bends downwards, transforming into a bunch of bananas -- that's what we call a "hand"!
