GOLF DEL SUR course in Tenerife, first opened in 1987, with a professional tournament, has hosted since then many competitions at the highest international level. During the years 1989, 1992, 1993 and 1994 it hosted the Tenerife Open, belonging to the PGA European Volvo Tour, with victories of José Maria Olazábal in its first two editions and of David Gilford and Mark James, in the following years. In 1995, at Golf del Sur took place the Shell Wonderful World of Golf Tournament, where they confronted each other Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson.
Currently the course has 18 championship holes that offer you the opportunity to enjoy a challenging game while enjoying the incredible views.
Moreover, in 1999 at Golf del Sur two worldwide records of long drive, were achieved both by the British Karl Woodward. First he established a new record by achieving a shot of 398 yards and a few months later, he finally succeeded in breaking his own record going over the 400 yards barrier with a shot of 408.
In 2002, at Golf del Sur took place a new international tournament, and on this occasion the leading role went to ladies with the first Tenerife Ladies Open edition, tournament belonging to the LPGA European Evian Tour, with the victory of the Spanish Raquel Carriedo, This was the first Ladies Open to be played in Spain after many years. In 2007 the victory was for Nikki Garret, born in New South Wales.
Golf del Sur, was projected by Pepe Gancedo in the beginning and remodelled in 2005 by Manuel Piñero. The course offers very interesting rounds where your attention will be caught by the volcanic black sand bunkers, the huge greens the wide fairways and the difficulty created by the two water hazards on the 3, 4 and 5 holes of the Links Course.
Very difficult is hole 3 with par 5 and 480 metres on the North course. Its wide and wave fairways are bordered on its right by an impressive canyon of ochre rock

Fun with friends n family. I seem to play better when I have them talking trash. Plus we give credit when a good shot is made but we laugh so much more when one of us duffs one 🤣🤣
Well...it depends on who I am playing with....my old #Golfmates from many years ago...we play for fun. We just have a good time making fun of bad shots, and at the end of the round, we down a few pitchers of beer. Although, I don't drink anymore...over 20 years sober....I will have a couple of diet Cokes. When I am playing with some of my new Golfmates in my new town...I play seriously...although I only play 9 holes because of my bad leg.

Not played the hole before always go for the centre of the green. More chance of 3 putting than birdi.
As an American it’s fun to listen to these spots. I use the CC which makes it even funnier coz CC doesn’t know your saying either. You have a great form.

I like to have a chat and a bit of banter when I play. Once I was playing with a chap who barely spoke a word over 18 holes - I hated every hole that day.

it's been -18 c it's now - 1.11c midafternoon snow on the ground. it's so good to see the sun and blue sky and yes even the peoples non-golfer in short. Have a great round.

It's all about the laughs and banter when I play with mates but we are respectful when the shots being struck. I enjoy the company as much as golf itself 👍

I left my previous club where the majority of members were either professional's or retired professional's and miserable, fun on the course was unheard of and the clubhouse bar was nicknamed the "library". I joined another local club where everyone's friendly and the 19th hole is great fun.

Liam...take from someone who has played in very windy conditions for over 40 years....you have to take into account the wind, even when it's behind you. You were coming up short because the wind was knocking those short irons down when it was behind you or when it was a cross wind.
I hit the ball very high....and had to learn how to keep the ball low and out of the wind. Ask Daniel the Pro, to teach you how to hit your short irons lower so the wind doesn't effect the ball so much. It's what we call a " knock down shot. " It's like a "Stinger" for short irons.

I like having a good time. I get serious when I get ready to hit, but you got to laugh on the course. My cousin and I got paired up with a couple of retired gents that talked and laughed a lot. Then I the 12th hole I realized they were smoking pot.

I play golf to have fun and not take it to seriously. I do like to play well when I play but I am not quiet and have a few laughs when I play with my friends or other golfers I am paired with. I can score well when I am serious when I play or not. Golfers need to have more fun when they play and loosen up and this will make them play and score better. This is what has happened to me when I play.

Just saw on the golf ch. they’re playing in Africa, that if you are using a 60 degree wedge & you’re hitting up hill. You have added 4 degrees to your
wedge. Meaning 64 degree wedge. Keep that in mind.
