Where Was Glass Invented? - The Naked Archaeologist 302 - Ancient Glass

  • A giant slab of glass is discovered in the middle of an ancient cemetery where important Rabbis are buried. What’s it doing there? Simcha has a theory that it was an unsuccessful attempt at making a window for Herod’s temple renovation in the late 1st century BCE - and therefore Holy. That’s why Rabbis would want to be buried near it. But as he tries to figure out if his theory is correct, he follows the glass trail and discovers that glass may have been invented in Israel - not Egypt, as is commonly believed.
Ladies, if you're expecting Harrison Ford to run across your screen wearing nothing but a fedora and carrying a bullwhip, you're out of luck. Instead, this show finds previously "serious" documentarian Simcha Jacobovici channeling his inner Michael Moore, as he travels the Middle East seeking to uncover the truth behind biblical events. Jacobovici interviews Holy Land scholars and compares notes with leading archaeological experts, offering startling new theories behind the stories while having fun in the process.

Sergio and Rhoda in Israel also visit this place and discuss what it could possibly be. And some people think that it might have come out of the temple itself and that's why the town was so well guarded

I love to see Shlomo, seems like a fun interesting man to sit and talk too. I'd loved to meet him in person and see his collection. Seen one episode where he tells the story of when he found his first roman coin I think. He gave NA a coin on that one too.

He thinks that the history described in the Bible is more accurate than most archaeologists believe, and that God uses natural forces to make things happen. The history in the Bible does NOT prove or disprove any supernatural explanations the ancients also included. He's an Orthodox Jew and NOT a Christian, so I don't think he would be in sympathy with your religious beliefs.

It is very likely that this place was the edifice of the prophet Solomon, which was mentioned in the Quran to the Muslims in the verse 'The Ants, 44', because this verse tells the story of the queen of Sheba who worshipped the sun, and went to Solomon and when she entered the palace of king Solomon the prophet, she was surprised with a glass brushing the ground so Soft and sparkling until she thought it was water . She walked on it and noticed something that made her believe in the god of Solomon. It is possible that she saw the stars and planets reflected on the glass which are bigger than the sun. So it is as likely as the presenter said and as other commentators have said maybe this was a telescope . QURAN , The Ants, 44' >

Im sure however that if its repeated often often enough in 50 yrs it'll be accepted fact that this was the most holy window and was made by abraham and moses and polished by ben hur and fitted by joshua himself.

Yet there’s no evidence of a Solomonic temple ever being built In Jerusalem out side of the Bible and if you read the story many things about the story of the temple being built don’t make sense.
