I agree, I think Texas respects the SEC, more then then SEC fans actually respect how big the Texas Longhorn brand actually is. He was just saying everyone loves to see Texas lose and they'll have that game circled on their calendar, to hopefully kick their ass. Texas is one of the largest brands on the planet, it's not a homer thing, it's a fact. Why do you think the SEC wanted the Horns and Oklahoma? Because they knew those two teams are going to bring SO much more money to the league, as far as eyes go, corporate dollars go and so on. Hey do your thang, we are now attached to the hip and let the the best school win. Texas is always going to be talked about and hopefully SEC fans just realize they just received a team into the league that every sports show will ALWAYS talk about, win lose or draw. It's not saying they are better then anyone without proving it, just facts.

I have really enjoyed watching every Ytuber with 40 followers making videos about this innocuous comment (because they know it will generate more views/clicks than they otherwise get). The fact that the entire SEC is going completely ape-shit over this little comment sort of proves his point. It has nothing to do with TX being the best team or being a declared rival. There is ZERO chance that every team on the TX schedule doesn't have that TX game circled. One of the reasons TX is everyone's biggest game is TX has a HUGE fan base and maybe an equally large or larger hater base. What does that mean? Lots of attention from the media, TV, YTubers etc...everybody wants to beat TX with everyone watching and it doesn't matter if TX is good or bad.

It has little to do with how good or bad TX is. When TX is bad it's still a big game because every school hates TX and wants to beat them so if TX is bad that's their opportunity to actually win. If TX is good it's a way to knock TX down a notch. The fact that the SEC has been ragging on TX for years now just heightens this fact because now nobody wants to be the team that gets beat by TX in their first year in the SEC.

the majority of them can go to the ACC, Big-12 and even Pac-12 last year and go to a conference championship game every other year. Georgia Alabama LSU Tennessee and Ole Miss would make the conference championship without divisions in the B1G. I would say more but better defenses in the B1G with horrible offenses
Texas’s SOS went from a preseason ranked 52nd to 31st by simply moving conferences
      Texas 31 Houston 24
      Texas 33 K State 30 (OT)
      Texas 29 TCU 26
last year, those teams were the equivalent of (Houston) = Arkansas, (K State) = Kentucky, and (TCU) = Mississippi State. sure a “win is a win” but you can’t struggle against those teams on an annual basis and continue to dominate.

Yeah, I think the spirit behind the question/comment was that every team will so badly want to beat TX and send a message about what SEC football means. I don’t think the point being made by Ewers or the reporter was that TX views themselves as the biggest dog walking into every match up. The longhorns likely will drop 3-4 games this year, to some mix of Michigan, UGA, OU, A&M, FL, UK. If they lose 3 to ranked opponents, then they still have a shot at the playoff, assuming that other highly ranked SEC teams will each drop a few from beating up on each other. I’d view a season of 3 quality losses as a decent inaugural SEC year for Texas. It’ll be fun to watch!

I disagree. They have a pretty soft schedule for an SEC schedule. Let’s be honest, Texas is a lot of hype going into this year. Last year was based off beating Alabama. They lost to OU and had some close games. They couldn’t get it done against Washington after finally winning the Big 12. Sark has yet to put it together but the media is love with them. They’ve always had talent, but they weren’t world beaters last year. They’ll lose 2 games this year, Georgia and either OU or A&M. Depending how A&M looks during the season with an updated offense, and if Wiegman can stay healthy, A&M could be favored. It’ll be fun to see how it plays out.

The don’t have a LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn on their schedule. They don’t have the get beat up run of games that most SEC schedules have. Michigan won’t be close to who they were last year. If Texas loses more than 2 games it’ll be embarrassing. You can be over hyped and still only expect to lose 2 games in the season.
