- Cover #153. Such an absolutely phenomenal song; The Remedy by Puscifer. I remember hearing this close to its release and instantly liked it a lot. It's been playing on-and-off for the past many years but I never sat down to play it until yesterday, when I decided to cover it. It's a very powerful song with lots of intricate drum parts. Definitely quite the emotional journey, as well.
The first 4 minutes of the song are close to note-for-note, whereas I opened up for a lot more improvisation towards the end, making sure to stay true to the vibe and riding on the same cymbals/etc.. It's a great song to practice, the 5/8 with the quarter note accent pattern on top of it is just a lot of fun to play around with.
This drumless version was created by purchasing the song off of iTunes and then using Spleeter. There are definitely a lot of artefacts coming through, but all-in-all it works quite well.
I really dig how the drum mix came out! It's surprisingly natural - less eq/compression than typically, yet sound very fat and nice. As with most covers, no samples used.

Digging how the mix came out. When you're doing drumless versions you've got a lot more space to play around as you don't have to "cover up" the original drums in the same way. Good times!

I got help by a friend to make it with spleeter. It's far from a perfect sounding drumless track - lots of ugly artefacts and things, but it does the job decently!
