I didn't end up mentioning it in the video, but swap cancels are also insanely useful as a defensive tool, because as long as your second character's model lingers on field, it's possible for enemies to attack them instead of you.
EDIT: As of patch 1.1, Linger Tunes (the ATK set) doesn't linger on swap until your character model disappears anymore. Unfortunate
Thanks for covering WUWA with your maths zajef 🙏
Could you make a rotation guide?😢
@@kyurokun rotations are very simple really, you go global buffers first (verina/baizhi) -> direct buffers/sub dps (Mortefi, jianxin, Taoqi, Sanhua, Danjin, Yinlin and Aalto) -> your main DPS
direct buffers/sub dps go second cause their buffs are only applied to the character switched after them and is removed if you switch away from the buffed character, they also have shorter buff durations (like 15s or something), unlike global who's buff is given to *everyone* and have a much longer buff duration (30s).
@@ayaya- so do i need to fill in everyone concerto energy first before swapping out?
@@kyurokun yes, all buffers have their buffs tied to their outro skill.
Though global buffers have extra buffs that is built in to their kit, baizhi and verina's inheritance skill, the ones in the middle of the skill tree give extra buffs if you do what it asks.
As the community discovers more and more mechanical details, the skill ceiling of WuWa becomes higher and higher. Even if I will never hit the cap of that skill ceiling personally, it still gets me more and more excited about the game.
I love the swap cancelling in this game, its great to see multiple characters at the same time on the screen, it really makes me feel like Im playing a team
I accidentally find out that Jianxin's hold E is also swap cancellable, which is very useful. She will do the counter off field. Hope this helps you all Jianxin enjoyers out there. XD
To bad her Heavy attack hold (when full bar) isnt.
@@Bullminatoryeah we need swap cancel for her heavy hold attack 😂
@@wuaduhsiapa Encore heavy can be swap cancelled, Jianxin needs this too :(
FR?!
@@StormiGenshin yes, if u hold her E while swapping,
its more important to be stylish than efficient truege
why not both?
this aspect of the game honestly makes it feel so good to play
This is mostly for overworld convenience, but I like using bell on Verina into heavy attack to slide to an enemy faster and then swap into my damage dealer when I don't have full concerto on Verina.
Big thanks to Zajef and the editing team for these videos. Despite the scuff that is the current bugs in the game, I do genuinely enjoy WuWa, and I'm glad to have informational videos like these to learn from.
Dude, after I learned to understand the swap cancel from your video, I was able to take down the Tower level faster and achieve it within time requirements
Hope to see more Wuwa content from you! Seems like you're one of the few content creators actually testing things like ER requirements and concerto/forte generation and explaining it well.
Encore's normal skill can be canceled just for long enough to use a skill on another character like Verina then immediately swap back to Encore and spam e or left click to still get the final hit. Idk if it's THAT useful but since I've learned how to do it I always do it just in case.
also this isn't a swap cancel but when in her burst state Encore can cancel her last hit with a skill right after the black sheep appears above her. That way you can cancel the 1st NA rotation then dash cancel the 2nd NA rotation and Skill cancel again her 3rd NA rotation and you should have just enough time to trigger her Forte right before her burst ends
swap canceling just like you said is super beneficial for building concerto, defensive benefits (not having to stay still until the second e part of encore)
and getting free damage from ur other teammates
Yo this is actually so helpful to know, always felt bad to swap without outro but getting to know all the diffrent benefits and mechanics behind swapping i previously never consciously realized does def. help me understand the combat alot more. Thanks i def. will try to incorporate some of it
Monkey echos auto targeting is trash most of the time unfortunately.
True xD
Thundering Memphis' is much worse
Your WuWa guides are really good, man! I hope you keep doing them!
I fucking love this game man, so much depth, i just love it. Great video :D
this is a very useful guide to help beginners and intermediate players, keep them coming!
Sanhua's cancels and techs are so cool. Love her. Thanks for all the infos 👍 I learned a thing or two
Very informative video that everyone should watch. I subbed
Very POG content!
Thanks for the video.
Another banger video
thats pretty good info 👍
One of the very few original theory crafting and informational breakdown on WUWA content, hopefully more will follow. Love the effort thanks ~
Swap cancellable buffs and character will be WUWA's version of Fontaine powercreep in the future they know its doable just not yet...
I didn't know about the swap into ult, pretty cool.
One of my most fav aspects of this game is the swap cancelings cause it just doesnt feels like you are plain like a braindead. But I am sad that you cant swap out of the character who you want the buffs on anymore😢
didn't know why kuro games discourage swap cancel by removing every single target outro buff when swapping. what a bummer
I think they did that to appeal to the casuals. A casual may see a good player doing all these swap cancels back to back and think wow this game looks kind of hard, which may discourage them to try out the game. I too really wish they should have kept the swap cancel techs
@@archishmanroy2874No, I don’t think that’s why. They clearly want to appeal to the more hardcore audience by having all these advanced mechanics in the first place. I think they wanted to prevent stuff like getting multiple outro buffs onto the same character, and this was the most intuitive way to do it. Another possible reason is that swap canceling and keeping outro buff was too strong and made certain teams like Calcharo/Yinlin too OP. Even after the nerf you still get more DPS by swap canceling his DMs, so they didn’t change the playstyle of that team, they just nerfed the damage output of it.
@@Alecajuice Having swap cancelling usable will increase the skill cap too much, theres too many possibility.
@@Alecajuice yea you're actually right about the buff stacking. I originally meant to say that maybe they want to appeal to both casual and hardcore players 😭 but seeing your comment does make me question my thoughts now
i mean, they can just make it that all single target outro buff to use the same slot so that one buff will replace the other instead of stacking. at the very least, if they insist to remove the buff when you switch off, make the buff remain until the character dissappear completely from the field (let them finish the attack before removing the buff).
my favorite doble swap cancel is Encore skill, change, buff, and change again with encore to do the increase damage of the skill
tower of adversity vigor management guide next maybe, and why Jianxin is excellent for soloing early floors.
Yuanwu's second passive literally gives an "outro" effect, but he only casts it at his last spot
kinda cool to see how zajef likes this game more and more gradually?
solid mechanics will do that to data-driven minds
Nice vid! I am not a robot!
The more I learn and make use of this, I think it really shifts the ranking of characters. Calcharo is actually depressingly mid, while Yinlin, Encore, and HRover are all bonkers, largely in part due to their swap cancel friendliness and monstrous damage with very little "control" time needed.
rex does not need this swap cancel shits, he just solo every boss.
pls keep using that font, I instantly knew it was a Zajef video without even looking at the channel name lmao
ngl as much as i think having all these cool mechanics and techs are great for high ceiling players, having so many aspects to think about is rly rough to actively play
another tip if you´re having problems with verina intro ther is a way that you can cancel the rest of her animation with ult .
But can it beat the swipe mechanic though
sanhua? Very based
When Chixia is on Her ult, she cant be switch, it was cool of chixia will be swap to another character like encore and yinlin when using forte
Imagine if Lisa could swap cancel her E
even character swap on Jenshin are still ping dependent for no fucking reason
Too much information, whaling unlocked
14:42 Your Verina should start with R after N5, you are wasting time on Q if you do it like that.
Swap in > N345 > R > E!Q!J > 3MA, this way you can cancel the Q animation and save even more time.
W
but are all those small swap cancels worth doing considering the 40% buffs from concerto effects? i understand the bigger ones and needing to dodge
At what point does swap canceling beat out the 40% buffs to damage you get from outro skills? Should I just disregard these and swap cancel to my delight or is there a good “if your buffs are over X%, swap cancelling won’t pull significantly higher damage numbers” quantity to exist behind?
For those on Phone. Good luck. There is no instant swap and swap back like PC.
I just use swamp cancel as soon as i see the circle on enemy as character attack auto and interupt the enemy.
Swamp cancel? Is that super effective against Grass, Ground and Water Type Pokemon?
6:31 so if i use example yinlin to use heron quick swap to verina to do something else then return back to yinlin then outro to calchario. My clachario will still gain 12% buff right
Yes. The heron dmg buff is tied to the outro, not the fire spits
"jump auto auto"
you mean _basic basic_ auto attack means automatically attacking _without_ player input.
Are echo cancels (into and out of them) affected by ping? Or is it just another case of wuwa bugs?
I have no issues with attacks and skill cancels at 180ms, but the heron and the aero monkey are erratic af.
Sometimes the heron will straight up dissapear (mid combat, technically not possible) without doing any of its two kinds of attacks, sometimes it will register the hold and swap in time but still fly off into the horizon instead of sticking onto the target.
And the monkey (if it doesn't randomly trip and fall on its face, or spawn 10 feet over the ground) will almost always swap out of into the next character mid-air no matter how fast I swap after the kick registers (making it almost unplayable for Jiyan/Mortefi)
Any knowers?
Swap cancel good. But swap parry is just as important. Basically makes Chixia insane because swap parry is a thing
Great guide! But I think this game is too complicated for me :(
This game is so complicated man 😢
elden ring video when
While the game recommends you to swap cancel, I dunno why they nerf swap cancel on buffs like deepen and aplify etc.
Hmm
I'm just praying that controller on mobile isn't awful, otherwise I'm gonna have to commit to sweating my ass off with this big ass tablet screen
I've been playing with controller on PC and haven't had many issues. Map not being a bind is being changed in 1.1 (it will be moved to select/share button), the main issue is that hardlocking targets is kinda jank. I try to not hard lock most of the time now and just stick to soft locking, the main issue is that hardlocking is bound to R3 and the way to swap targets works like tab targetting in an MMO, continually pressing R3, and then needing to hold down R3 to drop hardlock. If they change it to work like pressing R3 to lock and then pressing left or right on the joystick to move hardlock to a target directly to the left or right of what's already targetted, and then simply pressing it again to drop hardlock it'd be great
balls
I heck'in hate Calcharo. He feels like he should be the most fun with how his liberation encourages swap-cancelling more than any other character, but since the animation takes three years, so many times it just misses the enemy. Plus against fast moving enemies, sometimes you just can't hit the enemy enough times and barely manage to get any death messengers off. Feels so bad to miss a death messenger when so much of your damage output is tied up in them.
I feel like the issue is that they made the liberation just barely long enough to get three death messengers off pre rotation. If they had extended it so it's just short of being able to do four, that would give so much more leeway for having to dodge and chase enemies.
And this is ignoring that I typically have 130+ ping. His first normal after a DM literally doesn't generate any stacks towards the next DM for me. It's impossible for me to do three DMs per rotation.
You can dash cancel his 3rd NA string in his ult form to get a little bit more leeway to get 3 DMs. You should watch JinJinx and Tuner (Mathalos Gaming)'s video on him, it was useful for me maybe it could help you too. 130+ ping sounds rough though.
@@rudymulyar I do watch Mathalos, but I still don't think it's enough leeway. Theoretically everything is dandy, but in practice against an enemy that moves around, you're still going to reaaaaaaly struggle to get off three DMs. My ping's inability to do three in any scenario notwithstanding.
Before swap tech were discovered I really wasnt that impressed by the combat. The emphasis on parrying seems much less than advertised and it generally felt too floaty. But the addition of swap techs has made all the difference for me.
bro i cant with your mic.. love the videos but after 5 minutes or so it starts giving head ache.
I hate that despite swaping being such a important aspect in genshin
They never utilised it well enough
More WuWa content, dear Streamer.
There are a log more. Sanhua can cancel anything with her Resonance liberation for example.
She can also cancel her Charged with skill.
i still dont understand what a swap cancel is.......
swap cancel is bad terminology since it's not cancelling anything. The idea is that an attack you start on a character will finish even if you swap to another character and start attacking on them, too, and some attacks have long enough animations that you can swap back after a second to finish them (like Danjin's final hit of her forte circuit, or Encore's final hit on her skill) so you effectively lose very little animation uptime on the units you're swapping out of briefly to do damage or dodge attacks etc on another unit
@@Keykey70 so if i dont swap back, its not considered as swap cancel?
@@kakaro134 no, the addendum I made probably made things confusing. All that matters is that the attack you start on a unit will finish its animation when you swap to another unit. how you utilize this mechanic (which has been dubbed by the community as swap cancelling, for why I'm not sure but I think it's related to some mechanic in genshin) is entirely up to you.
@@Keykey70 so is swap and swap cancel the same thing? (since all characters behave differently)
@@kakaro134swap is simply switch, cancel is a misnomer as the other poster said. it's odd nomenclature for sure but a lot of gaming lingo is. the swap is the enabler for the 'cancel'
sorry for the wall of text but I want to help you fully understand this
it's really only called a cancel because you are cancelling the need to be physically on the char for the animation to play out, or cancelling the need to not touch anything during an animation.
Another form of animation/skill cancel is when you can stay on the character but use a different attack. Other mobile games have done this, Marvel Future Fight was notorious for incorporating it heavily to min max damage. Look up any skill rotation guide for that game for a demo. It also led to a total cluster of animation on the screen that were...less than desirable at times.
Some abilities had s so you could chain s together and be permanently untouchable in most cases if you were good at cancelling skills at the right time
But yeah, they even had delay cancel (dc) where you would wait a certain number of seconds before cancelling the skill because a buff or some hits would be missed if the skill was cancelled too early. As in, 4c3-2dc1-5 rinse and repeat
Zajef goes over this in WuWa a bit after 4:00 and at 5:00.
Say, character usually fires skill 1 gatling gun for 5 seconds, cant be cancelled so if you hit skill 2 aoe grenade while channelling, it stops the shooting.
Say, the Ult self buff gives cancellability. So you ult, hit skill 1, hit skill 2 right after and both skills fully play out with your character sort of getting a clone or afterimage doing one of the attack while the normal char model does the other. overall general example but yeah
It really should just be called skill stacking. Or skill swap stacking when you refer to WuWa's version.
The acronym would be SSS which is fitting nomenclature for a game that harkens back to games like Devil May Cry where you can get SSS as a score for stylishness, more or less. Chef's kiss😎
"... you would then SSS (Triple S) -example ability- into Calcharo..." etc
🥴double dreamless into Rover havoc skill into his ult is broken, been deleting bosses with that team
You should be using the ult first tho to get the buff for dreamless......
she broken on my cancel till i swap
Oh god.. I sincerely hope that the "meta" for this game won't hinge on swapping out your characters almost on cooldown. I want to see and use my character for more than 2 seconds instead of just spamming character swap 24/7. The reason genshin is so wildly unappealing to me is because you just swap swap swap swap and swap some more all the time in combat.
I am still firmly in the early-midgame but if endgame in WW also means never getting to see your character's full animations properly with minimal on-field time for each character on your team then I'll probably drop the game at some point. If maximizing your damage or even reaching around >80% of your damage potential means you absolutely HAVE to swap characters all the time then I'm just not going to bother building characters to do endgame content with.
I had hoped that this would finally be a gacha game where you actually get to use your characters properly but maybe I was wrong. I'm probably just not the target audience for this kind of swapfest gameplay.
So if the game allows for speedruns or advance play I will not play it XDD
You dont need to cancel anything to beat every content.
@@ixirion Might wanna work on your reading comprehension. Nothing I said relates to speedrunning or "advance play", whatever that's supposed to be.
I didn't make a statement about whether current content is clearable or not, I was spitting out hypothetical statements only. I would only have a problem if the game began to necessitate swap cancels in the future.
@@Kurppalumppu you dont honestly think I read all your post. nobody did, nobody will XD
so you may want to work on your selfimportance perception
How would that work with having three characters on a team though. You have to swap between them; you can't stay on all of them at the same time.
It sounds like you won't like quick-swap teams where you do just constantly swap, but there are plenty of more "traditional" teams where you have a main dps character you stay on for a long time. But I mean, you can't stay on *everyone* for a long time. Genshin also has those though, so I'm assuming that's still not what you want?
Though if anything this system is actually more like that, since you kinda can have multiple characters on-field at the same time. That's what the swap-cancelling mechanic is about.
@@velen2531 I've probably confused Quick-swap and swap-cancel. I just hope using a character until their outro skill is up before swapping will prove to be enough DPS in the endgame. Because I remember reading from somewhere that constantly swapping is supposedly the best DPS, the idea of which greatly irks me.
I like the outro system, and so far I've been glad to use support characters for longer than just to quickly press skill, ult and instantly swap away.
