  • 17x NCAA champion and Kenyan indoor mile record holder Edward Cheserek and Canadian half marathon record holder Rory Linkletter recently teamed up for a workout on Lake Mary Road in Flagstaff, Arizona. Both men raced the 2022 NYC Half with Cheserek finishing second overall in 60:37 on a very hilly course. Linkletter ran 62:19. Both guys will soon shift their focus to the track as they look to lower their 5000m and 10000m personal bests ahead of a summer that could climate at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
    Workout: 10 x 1K, 4 x200m

Is it more impressive to run this fast at 7000 feet or 4 days after a half marathon? 🤔

Lake Mary Road is one of the best places to train in my opinion. I've got a place out in Mormon Lake and commute to Flagstaff via Lake Mary Road and see quite a bit of cyclists and runners from time to time. You all have to be in great shape to run like that though, especially at that elevation.

Great content. What was the elevation profile of the 1k repeats? Appeared uphill one way and down the other but they kept the pacing so consistent.

Kind of a gradual hump for both directions. It’s probably the flattest section on Lake Mary Rd. (Mile 5 marker)

@2:13 slowed down even more, Linkletter has some interesting ankle motion compared to Cheserek. I don't think it is a good thing. Probably something that could be reduced by leg strengthening. He should show this vid to his PT.
