    What a disgusting interview, the interviewer did not do her job correct, instead of being patient and understanding she targeted her for using the word harmed instead of killed, it’s not Sues fault one bit and for anyone weather it be someone outside or inside of the Columbine situation is stupid, it was an unfortunate event and you can’t look to place blame

      She should pray her murderous monster’s soul isn’t being tormented for the lives he took. The victims and survivors of Columbine High school deserve so much love and kindness. She isn’t to blame. So she should just stay quiet and stop using mental issue to help alleviate the negative images of her son.

      @@fernandogomes2472 nah. Both parents’ other children turned out all right. Clearly they did something okay. The police should have done a better job monitoring them especially with their previous trouble with the law. Sometimes unfortunately there are children who are born bad seeds. I believe Eric was, and Dylan already had mental issues but was easily vulnerable to Eric’s manipulation. He kind of seemed codependent. I think he got off on being submissive to Eric. We can’t blame parents so easily for something like this, especially not when many psychopaths fool even professionals. Unfortunately, one also can’t be officially diagnosed as a psychopath (antisocial personality disorder) until the age of 18. Prior to that it is only conduct disorder they can be diagnosed with. Only other possible option I can really think of is the constant moving from place to place royally F’d up Eric’s head, but I don’t think it’s fair to blame the parents for that. It’s unfortunately par for the course with a military lifestyle. He was never able to genuinely connect with others, at least not for long before he had to move again. One has to wonder then how could he develop empathy or be able to connect with anyone with such a pattern like that. Plus, one could easily say maybe people should have taken a second look at Stephen King since he wrote Carrie while he was a high school student, but he’s not a crazed psychopath.

    Sad to see everyone in the comments saying she isn't at fault. She admits herself in Part 2 of this interview that she should have dug more, shouldn't have let other huge red flags go...Eric might have still done something terrible, but had she stepped up her parenting, gotten him to a therapist, maybe got to know his friends, the parents of his friends, looked around his room every now and then, Dylan wouldn't have been a part of this.

    Yeah, not her fault. Kids really do keep secrets from their parents. Things the parents would never think their child would do or that’s on their mind. They won’t show signs. But sometimes kids might show a sign but it’s hard for parents to admit. Anyone who dislikes her from what her child did, she not the only one in this boat. Like so many kids keep stuff hidden. It’s important to always keep an open door for communication with them.

    At a certain point a person is responsible for their own decisions. The responsibility for this horrific act rest solely on the people who committed the act. You can't see what's in someones heart and mind, not all people who have evil in there hearts keep detailed plans tucked under their beds and further if a child seems mature and well rounded what parent would question that child's motive?
    That being said, parents need to let their children know that their bedroom their laptops, phones, backpack, car or anywhere else are subject to search by you the parent at anytime for any reason. It's not an invasion of privacy it's parenting and it's also for your child's safety to know exactly what they are up to. If they expect it, trust me they may not like it but it won't be a surprised.
    We are all imperfect and any of us can miss something. This was not this poor woman's fault, most parents don't have to teach a child that it's wrong to murder innocent people we know it from the minute we are born. Also most people who wish to harm them selves have no interest in harming others. These situations involve a very specific and rare personality. I feel for this woman.
    Just keep in mind. Always look for changes in your child's personality, their is no such thing as a small personality change. Get your child help even if they resist and if need be call the police or proper authority for help.

Most of the explosives were hidden in his room and Harris’s dad even called police after the massacre because he believed his son might be involved. The boy was a textbook psychopath and it’s amazing to see that not much suspicion was raised by Harris’s parents.

Speaking of this interview; Diane Sawyer sounded like she was disgusted by Sue Klebold writing a book and even breaking her silence. Some of my friends have told me that Diane Sawyer has always been a total bitch towards the people who were interviewed by her. It has nothing to do to with their freaking parents. So shut the hell up. Eric was a twisted individual. He was evil. Not necessarily criminally insane. I think he knew the difference between right and wrong he just did not care. He was the mastermind behind the massacre. I believe Dylan was brainwashed and deeply influenced by Eric. They were both outcasts I think bullying was the motive. I don't think bullying is a reason to commit murder lots of people get bullied. I don't agree with what they did. A lot of people get over being bullied. It is something everyone experiences at some point. Violence doesn't solve anything. You should deal with it. And move on anger is only one letter short of danger. I had enough anger to kill the people who hurt me but I seeked professional before it got to this point. And I am happy I did. No need to take my anger out on innocent people.

    • @whoseboot
      @whoseboot Před 6 lety +3

      I personally would have to disagree. Eric was not an 'evil psychopath' that the media portrays him as. He was a victim of bullying like Dylan and arguably received more of it than Dylan. He was hurting too, he just expressed his pain differently because when you are in pain you either act out (like how Eric basically did almost all the time) or internalize it (like how Dylan did before the shooting). I disagree that Eric was the mastermind behind it all and he 'manipulated' Dylan. Dylan was not the 'depressed follower' like the media portrays him as, he was the depressed accomplice. The influence was not one sided, they influenced each other equally-- a deadly duo. I believe if they had never met, the shooting would have never happened. Dylan mentioned NBK (their code name for the shooting) before Eric, so perhaps it was his idea but we don't know. In the transcripts for the unreleased basement tapes, it actually shows an emotionally vulnerable Eric and an angry and hateful Dylan. Also, they were both equally responsible for what happened regardless of how depressed and suicidal Dylan was. The one thing I always hated about the media's take on the shooters is how they seem to give Dylan a slap on the wrist because he was depressed, but then they continuously shit on Eric because he expressed his pain through anger and aggression/violence. Everybody has their own insight on this whole thing, but this is just my take on it.

    When someone does something only they are to blame...not parents, not bullies, not those that reject them, not God or the devil. We all have choices. I will even say a person with mental illness still knows right and wrong and makes a choice. This parent has suffered a lot because she lost her son and so much more. She is making choices to try to help make a positive difference. That should be applauded. I will say that parents should learn that being nosey and in their kids' business is necessary. It was in monitoring my daughter's phone that I was able to help redirect her when she was making some very bad choices. Those in our care need parental guidance to make good choices. They will know when they are doing wrong and try to hide it. This is why parents must snoop from time to time. Parents must never stop parenting those still in their care...those living with them. There need to be rules and clear expectations and consequences for breaking these.

    I think Sue Klebold (and her publically invisible husband) is still in denial about her irresponsibility as a parent to not know what her son was thinking, feeling, and getting up to alone in his bedroom, and in his community, and with his school peers, and his gun collection, for some 18 years. Either she was disinterested, neglectful, unapproachable or had some kooky detachment syndrome with her son to not be able to intuit or rationally investigate the impending craziness that he became. I don't buy a word of her "trying to make sense if it". People who write books about their traumas (and also those who start "foundations" ... "to help prevent this happening to others") are 99% trying to assuage their own sense of guilt about what they "missed". Simple but true .
