Your addition of color to the tabs on the sides makes it much easier to tell the months! This is going to be even more precious than the already-printed ones. Though that is a lot of work! I'm impressed!

I love that big journal you bought at B&N. I love the cover material and that it's floppy too with lots n lots of pages. I've just gotten into journaling this year (Inspired by mylifemits CZcams channel) and rather than having multiple journals for planning, my health info, writing my prayers, daily journal entries, stationery sampling, pen pal log, pretty much everything and Ive been really enjoying it. And the best part is that my journal was only $5 from Kmart. I'm really enjoying my journal journey (😄). I like yr drawings and style of journaling.

I just ordered a Hobonichi a few days ago (June 2018 - half way through the year, ugh) because I want to try it as a regular planner. I will experiment with lettering and inks on the blank pages. I do love the idea of a fauxbonichi, and I am looking forward to taking your class on it. Thank you for showing this.

Thank you for sharing this walkthrough ! The hobonichis have gotten more expensive since you posted this, and I had the idea of sketching out the layout in one of my dot grid notebooks to see if I liked it, and I came across your video. I’m definitely going to work on this and see how it turns out. You’ve got a brand new subscriber ❤❤❤

FYI, AC Moore sells Le Pen (at least mine does in VA, USA). As far as fountain pens, I use them in my notebook and have had no bleed through, show through, and very little (if any) feathering. Maybe it's a pen/ink issue. I've used my several Lamy pens (medium & fine nibs), a TWSBI Diamond 580 (extra fine), and several japanese fountain pens in fine nibs (are like European & US extra fine). Maybe my success has been because of the size nibs I use.
The fountain pen inks I've used are Noodler's Turquoise, Noodler's "bulletproof" black, and Iroshizuku Yama budo.
    LOVED your video.

Well you got me hooked on a Midori, which I love and use daily and now I have this notebook.I ordered it from Barnes and Noble after watching your videos!! I plan on starting it June 1st. I have always loved journaling... I would fill notebooks as a kid with stories, stickers (Lisa Frank of course) drawings, poems, and my daily life. I kinda got out of it as a 'grown up' I let life get too busy... but I've so missed it! Love watching your videos. They so inspire me. Thanks for sharing!!!

I had this journal at least 20 years ago! When I was looking at the hobonichi I thought of using this journal myself! But I've not drawn very much and I don't like using a bunch of journals. I just made myself a Midori style planner with Moleskine A5 cahiers and I don't know what to do with that either! I bought DIYFish inserts for my FC planner and most recently bought (invested in even at half price) a graphic image leather datebook that I want to use as a hobonichi style. I've lost control because of looking at everybody's wonderful creations!
    Your drawings are wonderful!

I love your "Fauxbonichi" Ha! I went right out and bought a planner and started setting it up last night so I could begin to use it today (May 1). I have been wanting a reason to sketch--I have never done it before--and this was the perfect excuse to begin! I am by no means an artist, but I figure I won't get anywhere by wishing. I'm trying to figure out if I can make this into my all purpose planner. I'm a bullet journaler, but I don't want my bullet lists to take up all of the space. I'll be playing around with format a bit to see what I can figure out. Thanks so much for the great Hobonichi videos!

I love your videos. I started out with Filofax, then Midori (still love) and now I've discovered Hobonichi. Your journal is so creative and fun! It's inspired me to try my hand at one. I was thinking though that I don't have much to note each day because my daughter is now 17 and then it hit me to start one of these journals in August and continue through (and document) her entire senior year. I might splurge and get the little polaroid camera too! So excited! What a fun graduation gift!

This is so crazy- no kidding my project for this weekend was to make myself a DIY Hobonichi. I have been really interested since I came across the planner a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to buy one at this point in the year for the same reasons that you mentioned. I'm so glad you mentioned the notebook that you used- I was planning on using a Moleskine but was bummed that then the entire year couldn't be in the same notebook. I'm totally giving this a try! I do plan on getting the real Hobonichi next year because of the paper, but I'm excited to give the format a try this way!

You have done a great job on this h/take...I've been doing it too...lol that book is great...enjoy...did you know that this concept of journaling goes way back to the Victorian era!...oh yes..young girls were encouraged to keep garden journals like this.....they would put in quotes, draw pictures and sketches of what was happening in the garden, ( birds, weeds, herbs, trees, fruite, vegetables ) they would keep a record of the weather the moon followed by each season....so you see nothing really new as far as journaling goes just different stuff to use....no matter what it is amped how it's done as long as you enjoy and just do, recording events, time and others bits is always a good thing!....:)

Love this! I too was considered a hobonichi techo last fall but went with filofax instead. I'm curious, do you use a filofax, midori and this journal? I currently use my filofax for planning/calendar and my midori for art journaling/smashing & lists. I would like to have something that holds it all but I have yet to figure out what I want. Personally the rings in the filofax are a necessary evil. I love being able to move stuff around which I can't in my midori but the rings make it a pain in the butt to write in. I'm seriously going to consider getting one of these journals though;)

Have you been drafting in a page a day (30-31 days) and a calendar month page for all the months... & leaving blank pages in between? It came out so awesome, I cannot believe there is enough room there for 2 years. This year I wanted to go back to journaling (after too many years of time off) I had a very hard time finding a 365 day journal…I saw many 180 pages (90 sheets) and although I do miss writing on some days, up journaling when "I get to it", I do not like how it looks w/ pages not in succession (dating as I go). I think we tend to stay on top of the writing more when the days are all numbered in.

I don't want to insult anyone, but I'm just curious: how do you have so much time to journal and draw and everything ? And you are journaling in the Hobo Planner and in the Midori? Sorry, I don't know how to express it in a more friendly way, I don't want to be rude (English is not my native language) I'm just curious. I'm glad when I find the time to think of 3 things I'm grateful for

This is terrific! I've just gotten one of the Barnes and Noble notebooks and am setting it up as a teaching planner. I love the cover you found- though the website, even translated, is confusing me a bit. Is this cover the right size for the faux book?

Hi the A5 cousin is the correct size to fit the Barnes and Noble journal! If you select the cover and put it in your cart you can then change the language to english and make sure that you are ordering the correct one! Shipping is very quick!! Less than a week!
