    Changing the capacitor solved the problem on my Xbox One X.
    Thank you very much!

    When you are working on power supplies, use one hand wherever possible, so that when you get a shock, it doesn't go across your heart.

    Nice repair Phil 👍, always makes me nervous when you open them with a screwdriver/tweezers - seen you get bitten by them in the past lol

    Hi 👋 really like your videos, very informative and giving me confidence to have a go at repairing my Xbox. I bought an original Xbox one that had undisclosed water damage. It turns on then off in about ten seconds. It’s been cleaned and checked with no obvious signs of damage. With my multimeter, I have identified a number of capacitors near the mosfets and near the cpu which appear to be shorted. Please can you advise how I confirm they have an issue, and what the ratings are likely to be if I need to replace. I am grateful for any advice. Thank you, Steve

    I have literally binge watched hours of your content. For an improvement a camera on your rework station settings/ read out would be a welcome touch . I mean in a box in a corner of the screen or something. Just to verify visually what your saying. Not that I disbelieve you just think it would add something 👌👍

    Could it be some cpu processors or buck-up power 🤔.?

    Ticking to me is ALWAYS a PSU/cap issue.

    • @yadabub
      @yadabub Před 17 dny +1

      Yep. Ticking and resetting, or ticking and not starting up is almost always failed capacitors.

    I've been having the exact same issue, but with my Xbox 360. It was sold to me with a third party power supply, and one day it just stopped working. The console beeped, but the power supply wouldn't turn on. I've looked inside, and the entrance capacitor (same specs as this one) was leaking. Too bad I couldn't buy a replacement yet (this capacitor costs 8 USD here in Argentina), but at least I've tested my Xbox with a ATX power supply using the cable from the Xbox's power supply, and it works. I just wanted to make sure my console wasn't dead haha. Now I hope I can get the capacitor this month so I can continue using my Xbox

      Also, in a friend's laptop, the power supply had a really loud beeping, and I couldn't figure out what was causing it, because I opened it up, and couldn't see any bulged capacitors o noticeable damage. This video really helped me out!

    No wonder these power supplies keep failing, they're manufacturered by Lite-on! We had a USFF Acer PC with a Lite-On unit and it exploded. Opened it up and yup the bottom of the unit was completely burned. Thankfully the rest of the PC was fine, PSU was proprietary so we had to buy an overpriced used one on eBay, however this one was manufactured by FSP which is a much better brand in my experience.
    We also had a Dell Vostro laptop with a Lite-On SSD, NVME, yet it takes 5 minutes to boot windows and the SSD is always at 100% usage... it's not like its full or anything. I have no faith in Lite-On products at all.

    Hi what soldering iron do you use from the 2 on the links or someting else you use.

    • @braddofner6407
      @braddofner6407 Před 13 dny +1

      I have been plaing with small electronics for many years now. I currently have a 7.99 Amazon Special soldering iron. Its been abused by me (left on overnight more time than I care to admit) in horrible ways. This thing refuses to die or stutter for almost 3 years now, and the last iron I had of the caliber lasted about 7 years before the tip wouldn't hold solder anymore. Could have just replaced the tip, I'm sure. But at that point it was 7 years old, so I tossed it for the current one I use. If you don't actually need to have PERFECT temperature control, there is no need to have anything more IMHO. I have always used the cheapo irons and, honestly, never been let down. I am sure loads of people would disagree with me. I am merely speaking of my experiences.

    This guy is very talented it takes a lot of patience and knowledge to do what he does and people like him the Xbox One x is not as good as the series x but I don't really feel like it matters entirely they're both great consoles to own I do believe however in my own little theory that these game companies are I do think holding back on the true potential that they say they're consoles can give

    I noticed at 15:15 there is a sign Pb with a slash across, but that isn't true anymore when you are using leaded solder 🤨

  • @SilverWolvesScarletForestSnow

    That isn't a capacitor, it's a Geiger counter lol.

  • @QsTechService1

    The most common issue with this model the is the power supply the capacitor and mosfet and fuse the capacitor always bulges system was designed poorly the cooling system was not good also the hard drive cable fails a lot preventing the system to power up just a bad design the whole system 😮

    Go on! Power supplies arent that scary. We used to throw around charged caps in lab practical. Look at the amount of times that electroboom has blown himself up.
