I'm gonna try for moments again. The Regal gears won't help me until I actually recruit him (I know they'll be there when I do eventually, but I can't use them now). So I kinda want that Cody moment moreso for Final Boss Rock than anything.

Both good choices! KO is solid. The coin is a gamble... but there is a chance you get something better (or worse) with the coin.
