I didn’t think about that ughhhhh.
Time was, if it wasn't for warranty work, Dealerships would barely have any work at all. These days, the exact opposite is true; denying as many warranty claims as possible in favor of shoehorning as many of those out of warranty cash cows up onto the lift as possible.
*idea Take it to a DIFFERENT dealer, but DON'T tell them it's under warranty and if asked tell them you're pretty sure it's not. THEN see what they say!!!*
Why not just use the charge only feature?
@@Rekuzan thank you that is a greattt thing that I must do. My lease is up and I don’t know what in the world I’m going to do. Been studying up on what is going on and the inner workings of dealerships, and my plan is to extend the lease until August and take more time to research and go to different dealerships and see what is out there. I don’t want to be screwed again like I was about 15 years ago by nissan. I am definitely more educated now, but these salesman tactics get me and make my spine mush. I’m trying to stay focused. For example, I got the whole “those are nice headphones where did you get them…” That one I noticed right after I left because I remembered learning that tactic at a sales conference. If they can afford airpods, they can afford an extra $25 a month. However, my airpods were found run over in the road and glitch out all the time. Anyways, extending the lease until August good idea? I’m also worried about the banks and the rest of the economy in the next few months
@@mordys6305 the cord can actually be the hacking device. 😳 the cord could be from the servicer themselves, or a rando who switched the cables and then switches them back after you leave. Google hacking phone cable. Ughhh what a world
I was listening to Beethoven while Scotty was orchestrating!
a race to the finish
@Sunsettvu -- The "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" version of Beethoven?
That would just about fit.
😂😂 nice one lol
I tried using one of those public chargers at an airport one time, and it refused to charge unless I allowed USB data transfer. Nope! I wasn't that desperate.
$8000.00 for a new transmission? Time for a match and an insurance claim!
not sure exactly how much insurance would pay out for a match! lol
Good point, smart devices all communicate with each other. They search for other smart devices and attach so there you go.
That is the point of AI. It is for aiding the vendor. Not there for the end user. Been quite a few trolls wanting to know why I would drive cross country with cash.
(you must be doing something illegal)
Guess they were VISA or Master Card employees. NO cash discount. Banking does not get it's cut?
So why do the petroleum marking companies like cash? They discount it?
Wait till 5g and the products it will allow to come out everywhere, from security tags on clothing at stores to every WiFi enabled device constantly tracking you 100xs more intensely than it already is.....surveillance state 100% observing everything
I’d be more worried about the fbi getting my info
Do they already have it?
They know more about you than you do.
the FBI was warning about the FBI hacking your info
TOO LATE! The (F)ederal (B)ureau of (I)ntimidation already has our information.
Exactly! Most of the scams are done by the 3 letter agencies
Well, I totally trust the FBI! 😂😂😂😂
🤡
The CIA is even more trustworthy.
My favorite alphabet agency!
Use them to charge power Banks, then charge your phone when need it
Remember the days when all a car had to do was get you from point A to point B, with no AI involved at all? Good times.
Hey Scotty, just wanna say thank you for making these videos and spreading knowledge, you’re awesome ❤
The FBI is only about 20+ years too late on that advice.
How about they catch the crooks instead of warning us they are going to violate us! Isn't that their job!!!!
In the Mexico airport. The wifi ask for you to log into your Facebook in order to get free internet but that always seemed fishy to me
TOYOTA'S QUALITY IS GOING DOWN THE TERLET!
I trust the FBI like I’d trust a Chinese chef with my Labrador
Thanks for giving them the idea
Intresting. over 10 years ago I remember Dateline talked about NOT using public charging stations for this very reason.
Way to go, Scotty!
I have watched you since I was 19 and now I’m 33. I appreciate you very much for all the help mechanically. I love that you see our corrupt government and started putting out political and real news. Every time you have a video I watch. Much love brother.

Scotty is a great teacher
😂😂😂😂 I am dying at the picture that said “Wife For Sale. Or trade for boat.” 😂😂😂😂😂
Scotty, I'm surprised you did not suggest new radiator cap first. That was the cause with my Honda.
I absolutely love and Trust Scotty and all the information he talks about ❤
You can get a power-only USB cable which does not have the data lines leading into your device, and this will make you immune from any sort of attacks which are based on public phone charging stations
Wishing the FBI would get theses Gas prices down..🤣
I liked the information on the "HoJo" motor. Howard Johnson. It's funny because that was an ice cream parlor/ restaurant back in the early days.
Uncle Scotty, they've been doing that juice jacking thing for a really long time. It's not new. That's exactly why some people openly protested self-driven, wireless, max autopilot cars, since they become easily hackable.
Hay Scotty I love your channel. God bless you and your family
Thumbs up 👍 I like the way your mom looked at you. 😊
She was like, "Where did I go wrong?".
I not surprised by this at all
I always check fuel trims, before replacing the cats. Have a Camry in right now waiting on a converter
Is that for all the years Camrys where made ? Or a specific year.
@@tryjames1ify this would be for any make/ model. Have to find what made the converters fail and repair that first. Usually they fail from a poorly running engine wether it’s misfiring, running rich etc
Dealerships are scumbags. My daughter went to get her oil change at 1500 miles on a 2023 cx-5 purchased new 2 months ago as I recommended for break in. They told her she needed a new cabin air filter 😂
Teach her how to change her own oil. It would be great bonding time.
@@kg-Whatthehelliseventhat 😂 you haven’t met my daughter! I’d be changing the oil and she MIGHT watch ha ha. She’s very prissy 😂
Cabin air filter is not warranty covered, what a surprise.
She can always tell them NO, just change the oil, since she isn't obligated to do anything not covered by warranty.
Heavy smog area? Haha
Hey hey Scotty!
Please continue along this, plenty of security topics to choose.
People are ignorant or naive.
Scotty is the best for giving great info even if it's not automotive related.
Thank you Scotty for your help in keeping us safe.
Don’t use the public charging stations, use the new and improved FBI charging stations….😏
That's what detail is for.
If it was really about saving a tree or hugging a panda, the Teslas would have alternators ..we should talk about that
Great stuff, as always! Thanks!
I like man your good help
The fib already has all your info
Had 2 vehicles both suffered breakdown, but both turned out to be grounding problem's.
There has not been a single instance of this happening.
HANDS!
what about using wall jacks🤔
I have a difficult time believing that the public charging stations aren’t simply electrical receptacles with the proper USB connectors to charge devices. There is no need for them to be anymore than that. 🤷🏼♂️
rest in peace scotty. very sad
I wish the FBI would stop EV production!

More words of wisdom from Scotty
Totally Agree, how I long for the good old days..🙏
Regarding EV charging stations. The Walmart in my area just removed all the stations they installed in c. 2019. This is in Southern California mind you. My "the heck!?" moment for the day.
Well, it's CA. Maybe they passed some law making them liable for something if they provide a charging station? 🤔 Although I haven't heard anything.
They had one in Vineland, NJ. It was a big, smelly diesel generator. WTF?
I have been saying that for a long time now and it's only going to get worse. So buckle up!
Hi Scotty, I Have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 motor, the problem that I have is when it's cold out my check engine light comes on, the mechanic reset it and it's fine but could happen the next day. Now when it's warm our, all summer long no problem. What's your expert advice.. Thanks and love your program and knowledge.Brad from Wooster,Ohio.
Whats with the flailing arms?
Nah I don’t think that’s the case. OBDs are there for system’s communications . charging ports are there for supplying energy. Whereas phones use both in the same input.
Dealers are crooks.
Don't worry about your car getting hacked when charging. They are all connected over the cellular network, so it will probably be hacked sitting in your driveway.
Too much technology can be a bad thing. I personally dislike the trend towards electronic parking brakes.
That's a really good point about the charging stations.
Do you think there is any hope that we can ever go back to mechanical vehicles with analog gauges and electrical systems? I sure would love to go back to non computer/ non digital cars.
Those days are long gone. We have to search high and low for great old cars like the Datsun 510. One of those today will be worth its weight in gold.
It could absolutely come back. The problem is the regulatory agencies regulated them out of existence. Our tooling and assembly plans for them have been binned as a result of this as well. So a couple things need to change. The regulatory agencies need to F off before it'll even be possible. How you make this happen... who knows.
I'm in search of a 2016 - 2017 manual transmission car right now with manual handbrake and keyed ignition because my newer jeep is dead in the water over a backordered rf hub. They said it could be a few months to a year before they get shipped out. I still owe $7000 on it and have to pay insurance because of the lein on a car that stays parked. 😕 A few days ago I found a class action lawsuit about high oil consumption which is possible problem number 2 (one of the warning was low oil pressure) then the service manager said the coolant was alarmingly low...so yay! Problem #3. 🤬🤬🤬
The have USB adapters that prevent the transfer of data. You can buy them online for a few bucks
When searching for used car, can we trust odometer reading? Or can those things be altered?
There are reputable transmission shops that would give that guy with the 19 Camry options and give him a 3 year/100K nationwide warranty for way less than the scumbag Toyota dealer. A big shout out for Brooksville Transmission in Brooksville, Fl. A satisfied customer!!!!!
My Tundra has 180k on it. It always ran at the same temperature until My original radiation leaked. I put in a new one & it runs the same temp all the time. And I'm in Arizona!
Any tips for opening up an auto repair shop?
I would say find an area where there isnt much competition, people like to have their cars repaired close to home.
Okay the juice jacking from the USB ports has been going on for 7 years..... But the charging stations for the vehicles are semi protected and it is new to them jacking those systems.
Wow. Scotty it always dogging ram but has a mopar poster?? 😮
err ok.. 1 public usb ports are not connected to any server. what happens is the ports are tampered with and have stuff added that allows connections to charging devices (or are installed with these chips). 2. this isnt new or news. its practically common knowledge at this point not to use public USB chargers always bring ya brick or a charge only cable. and if ya ignorant enough to not know and do use them, well that's on you
Thanks Scott yo always give everyone good advice 👍🏼😊
It’s Scotty you MF!!
Thank you Scotty. Hey Katlin. If the FBI was hacking the charge ports, they wouldn't warn about it. THINK
The FBI says don't charge, cause the NSA is the one snooping
They're trying to improve their public image
What up Scotty! Can you do a video on battery fuses? My car suddenly completely shut off and it took me a while but I figured it out. Some people pay for towing and crooked mechanics to charge them their entire life savings for what mounted to me as a $30 fuse.
Good question Hold Wolf
3 cent fuse - marked up to $30.00
I have a 2002 dodge durango. I think it is one heck of a suv. Would like to find 2 more like it. What is your opinion?
Maybe go back to contact points and condenser.
Thanks once again, Scotty! You are the best! 😇🥰🙏👍 A real American classic.
Does scotty always talk with his hands like this or just for the videos. Either way I still like it
Thank you, Scotty.
Dont be so sure you can trust your car either. No clue what monitoring software is grabbing your data and sending it to the car manufacturer.
The FBI and NSA probably want to hire these people to do it for them instead. Lol
Oh for god sakes they're hacking into everything so what's the damn difference
Pretty sure for tesla the data is transmitted remotely. You can press the button on the charging station to open their charge port on their car and plug somebody in so they get charged for being parked in the parking spot.
Good advice!
The FBI said stop doing something imma go do it more. F them
USB ports are primarily data ports, power transmission is second. As of right now, e- charging stations are not data ports
Fbi said 🥸
@T Savage Mark , my point is that USB ports are used for data transmission. That is how they access a device. E- chargers are power transfers only. There is no data transmission, so there is no data connection for someone to access the vehicle's electronics.
@@brianloomis9351 ... Thank goodness the cars will likely be okay then.
I know Scotty threw that out there about the cars, and I thought,
Man if they ain't got enough to worry about.
You don’t buy a car today you buy a warranty. Brother’s dodge slipped by the warranty and motor fried. All dealer services, 5000 out of warranty, boat anchor.
Dang
FBI OWNS ALL OF THOSE
Thank you for sharing this video Scotty 🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
I do not agree with the sentiment that you can hijack someone's car through their charging port. On phones, the charging port is the same port used for the data port. In an electric vehicle, if there is no high bandwidth DATA that needs to be interfaced through the charging port. Only basic information is sent back to the charger like the state of charge and battery temperature, but there is no personally identifiable information other than the Vin number being sent back to servers through the charging network. Charging ports on vehicles, it's not a worthwhile attack vector for getting personal information.
I have a 2012 Scion TC with A/C problems. The compressor is engaged and I have it full blast recycle inside. It doesn’t gets cold. The A/C amount is in the green zone according to my gauge. What can I do. Empty and refill? Maybe a sensor went bad? I can’t find the sensor and local A/C service center (Firestone) is asking for $1,000 for an A/C kit (whatever that is….)
Heater core or ac blend door, you won't be able to do the job lol its behind the dash that's why it's 1k , unless you Wanna put that down on a new car lol
Might be other small things like a faulty receiver drier , expansion valve , these are easy to access in the engine bay. Hopefully not your cooling coil is shot, as you will need to remove your dashboard to access.
@@cormaro13 U checked all that (took the dash out piece by piece. Everything looks good
@@fleurdewin7958 i will check that, thanks
It would be nice to see the FBI dismantled.
And it would be nice to see child molestation case skyrocketing, right?
@@beezanteeum Actually quite the opposite would happen
@@beezanteeum Ironic, because the FBI actually protect them...
@@beezanteeum the fbi blows. Get out.
@Mr. Bizantium , when was the last time that FBI doing something good? All I heard is they are corrupted to the core and they are the tool that weaponize to take down the opposite of political party.
FBI:female body inspector 😅
Damn! I just spat my breakfast glass of milk! 😊
If someone wants your car bad enough, they WILL take it!
How to change a cluster on a 96 grand marqus -gs
The tech really didn’t take off, but you can use electrical outlets as internet points. Before Wi-Fi was the go to, I bought and still have the system that plugs your router into the out let and anywhere with in 50’ I could plug the receiver in and have internet at that point. So technically just plugging into an electrical outlet isn’t safe ether.
Customer with bad tranny on 2019 Camry should check his vin for recall on nhtsa or Toyota repair programs. Certain Sienna, Highlander's, Camry 2017-2019 were affected. My personal sienna 2017 with 160k miles had the same issue. this shitty 8speed tranny was replaced free of charge when I called Toyota. I also received letter back in 2020 from Toyota stating that my tranny covered with 10 years unlimited miles . Scotty please reach customer who asked your advice
Also new tranny from Toyota is 4500-5000. Labor is 1500.
Damn dude. Your hands do not have to be in every frame. Ricky Bobby lives.
Use a USB condom. The power wires and data wires are separate, so all you have to do is not connect the data wires. You'll still get at least 2.5 watts by USB spec (and often more, up to about 12 watts) without computer-negotiated power (ie USB-PD).
Scotty, what do you think about new technology?😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the warning Scotty
How do I support my dogs and cats joint health! I always make sure I ONLY use good Gange when I roll em a joint!!! Db

Protip to not get hacked:
Use cables that only charge your phone and don't accept data transfer. Yes, they exist.
