  • During the events of season 5 of breaking bad, Jesse came up with a plan to use a magnet to destroy Gus Fring’s Laptop and Walter and Mike went along with the plan,
    but because of this, everything unraveled for our favorite meth cooks faster than they would imagine.
    But what if nobody listened to Jesse? Could things have been better or could things go more wrong than ever?
    Well, let’s find out.

    In this scenario the DEA would have no reason to assume that Heisenberg was behind Gus’s death and the destruction of the lab. They probably assume that one of the now unidentifiable burnt corpses in the destroyed lab belonged to Heisenberg given that the blue meth would disappear after the event.
    They probably assume that Gus death and the lab’s destruction was caused by a rival or a former disgruntled employee of Gus.

    • @Delta_Aves
      @Delta_Aves Před 4 měsíci +11

      Jack's gang weren't in the drug industry. They were originally hired by Walt to kill Gus's men in prison (which, here, didn't happen since the offshore accounts weren't discovered) and then only Todd was working with Walt.. The cooking equipment they had near the end was taken from Declan, Mike's distributer, and it was only at the request of Lydia, whom they never met/collaborated with in this timeline. With Saul, even if he could find another means of selling, he probably couldn't find a new partner for Walt, with Jesse gone, and wouldn't want to work with him again following the Brock fiasco.

      It would've probably been the ending some people thought Walt deserved more; going to jail for his crimes and having all he worked for been for nothing, as he wouldn't be able to get the remaining money to his family. However, if the cancer didn't immediately kill him, Lydia would've hired Jack to orchestrate his death via prison connections to tie up loose ends, Skylar wouldn't have gotten a deal with the DA, as Walt never gave her the ticket, and Jesse would spend the rest of his days as a slave cook for the neo nazis until they eventually decide to kill him.

(Hear me out) So like in another one of your videos Todd and Kuby switch places during the train heist but during the heist when the Good Samaritan shows up when Todd is distracting the train drivers, Todd decides to kill the train drivers and the Samaritan. Walter Jesse and Kuby stop after hearing the gunshots and Mike tells them what happened, Jesse and Mike says they should leave but Walter argues they should finish but behind them is Drew Sharp who heard gun shots and gets a good look at the three (maybe even hears names like Walter, Jesse, Mike, Todd etc) but either way he knows something is wrong and drives off to report what he seen to the police. As very interesting as this is I feel that it’d be something a bit too similar to the other What Ifs, only this time that Walter, Mike, and Gus would have a lot more of a connection and being closer with their shared hatred for the Salamancas. It’d probably turn from Walt cooking for the money and pride to more for his pride and vengeance. It’d probably save Gale and maybe even Combo from death too if it meant Walt being in on Gustavo’s plan. He could probably replace Jesse for most of that too.

    Holy shit, the rare good ending for everyone involved. Good stuff man, keep up the good work!
    My own suggestion: What if Juan Bolsa was Gus' ally, starting from before BCS? Throughout both series, Bolsa gives off the impression of an incompetent guy getting played by everyone and in particular giving Gus far too much leeway and trust, but what if it was a front, working as an inside man in order to deliberately help Gus' plans to eventually overthrow the cartel, and get some power for himself? Might be a bit of a long shot, but we don't know *that* much about Bolsa so there's surely a lot of wiggle room with him to work with, and I think it'd be fun to throw a spotlight on whats otherwise a super overlooked character.

    Very enjoyable as usual.
    I gotta say at 6:04 I kind of thought that sometimes the characters can be a bit monotonic and same-y in their reasonableness and chillness. Especially with him fanning away the cigarette smoke, that kind of increases the tension and I may like to see that tension build; I kind of expected:
    Walter sternly stares at Saul before responding in disappointed staccato, "Okay, while that may be a possibility, you..." Walter pauses and looks at the room around him, spotting Jesse and Saul's clueless expressions as they hang on his words. He tenses his fists.
    "YOU DON'T LEAVE THINGS LIKE THAT UP TO CHANCE!" Walter shouts with brisk ardor.
    In the video's take, I think he may sound more like a young street person than an old jaded bottled-up egotistical high school teacher. Like it sounds like something that Jesse or Badger could say.
    "Okay you might be onto something Saul, but I can't... I can't just leave something like that up to chance, because... what if it's not?"
    Ignore that if you like; just one random internet person's idea :)

    One very important thing you forgot to address in this story, Mike's 9 guys who are in lockup. That's the whole reason Mike agreed to work with Walter in the first place. Without the income from the cooks, Mike has no means of paying off his guys meaning they flip, meaning Mike will never get to pay her grandaughter which was the whole damn point. If Mike was reluctantly gonna work with Walt for that reason in the original timeline, why would that be different in this timeline?

    Wow a happy ending for everyone? That’s quite the surprise. Well maybe except for Walt since he still has the urge to cook

  • @Michael-he7tc
    @Michael-he7tc Před 4 měsíci +12

    So… deciding to blow up a police station led to a happy ending? I’m sorry, this is breaking bad, and vince Gillian’s cosmic karma doesn’t work that way.
    I would’ve personally had it that Walter lies and manipulated Jesse into thinking that the blast radius would be directed at the wall, leaving any travelling innocents with minor injuries at worst in order to get him to go along with it, becuase as it it’s unrealistic he’d stick with a plan this dangerous to innocents as is. Once the walls blows up, it kills one or two bystanders, leaving Jesse to go on another meltdown about his involvement in such. Basically acting as a much earlier drew sharp incident. He’s disgusted with Walter but this isn’t Mike’s death or Gale shooting levels, only Drew Sharp levels, so he isn’t throwing money out the window.
    The plan still fails, but luckily the laptop is encrypted. Jesse decides to leave the game and is disgusted by Walter for his lies about the blast radius. Walter reacts in a similiar way as did in our timeline, petty. Walter goes on to secure more methylamine by learning about the train, another supply depot or another crew outside Albuquerque, bringing Todd along to be his new partner for all of it. (Not particularly realistic but just for the sake of him still being able to cook, if they were able to manage it as a ragtag group in season 1 then Season 5 Heisenberg shouldn’t have any issues.) However due to no Lydia or Declan Walter’s empire only really exists over Albuquerque, with Todd, Todd’s associates and the few guys Saul could muster to act as distribution, leading to dramatically less profit, he’d be lucky to have 5 million by a 3 month time period.
    Since Mike isn’t dead Jesse isn’t throwing his money out of the window, meaning he doesn’t have police attention and so isn’t a liability, so he doesn’t need to dissapear, so he doesn’t find out about Brock’s poisoning.
    Walter never meets Jack but there’s no way Jack wouldn’t be aware of his nephew’s connection to a drug peddler like Walt, so I still think he’d be keeping tabs on him.
    When Walter gets his cancer coming back he isn’t compelled to leave, as he only has about 5 million, and his ego can’t let him admit that Gus’s cut to Walt would’ve made him far wealthier if he just stuck with Gus, no, he has to outperform him and provide for his family fully, he isn’t going to sell out for pennies, and so he continues on with his drug empire just in time for Hank to find out, leading Hank to bug Walter’s car right to the fumigation, all of it. Far larger evidence in favour of Hank than the medical bills, which is all Walter would have against him. By the time Walter notices it’s too late and most of this is handed over to the DEA, and he goes in for questioning. Todd goes in as well as any guys they were using for distributioning, and Jack gets his guys to stab Walter and all of his guys for distribution in the prison block so they can’t speak out against Todd, all in a similiar fashion to how they handled Gus’s guys in our timeline. They frame it as Todd barely escaping the last execution, so he isn’t suspected as being part of the attacks.
    Far away Mike and Jesse both learn of the brutal murder of supposed drug Kingpin Walter White, Mike raises a spiteful toast, Jesse is sorrowful for a second, but realises Walter dug his own grave with his actions, turning off the TV. Todd would have to serve a lot of time in prison but due to lack of evidence can get off as a lower level consigliere to Heisenberg then what he actually was. He tries to mention Jesse Pinkman but he is long gone from town after the secure laptop situation, and not returning due to the blast radius lie from Walter, so Jesse is safe.
    If Jimmy met with Walter for his cut while his car was bugged he’s screwed and right into the DEA with him, but since he doesn’t really have any knowledge of Todd this would save him in the long run. Jack however, not knowing of how much he knows adds him to the hitlist as the last real target, but Jimmy narrowly escapes as Jacks crew overstretches themselves for so many targets in a two minute time window, as we’ll say Walter and his distrubutors outnumber the amount of Gus’s guys, which was a tight enough operation in our timeline, so Jimmy narrowly escapes and is rushed into protective witness custody (again Vince’s cosmic karma, Jimmy doesn’t deserve to die, he deserves life behind bars). From there the trial goes all the same as our timeline, but the charges are lower due to Jimmy only be associated to small-time Albuquerque Kingpin Walter White’s local empire, not a nationwide one, ending up with 57 years once he confesses to Howard and all the other crimes he’s committed, upping his sentence dramatically from what he was initially slated to get. Jack would leave him alone owing to the fact he has said nothing about Todd in his full confession, plus the protective witness custody being impossible to break through. So I’m an ironic way without realising it, that confession of everything Jimmy did saved his life.
    Either that or Jimmy is lucky enough to avoid Walter visiting him for his cut, and is spared from the DEA. He has two choices, stay as Saul Goodman in Alberquerque, in hopes Walter or the distributors don’t spill, a risk which ends up being true as they are all stabbed to death soon after, leaving Jimmy consequenceless or go on the run just in case. I believe it’s more in character for him to go on the run, due to paranoia and also the fact I always got the impression he wanted to start a new life after the empty existence of Saul Goodman, he was always obsessed with the idea of disappearing, he talked about it a lot in breaking bad Season 4. He wouldn’t have to run all the way to Omaha though, as Heisenberg would be a far smaller case worldwide. Where he’d go otherwise I’m not sure. But it’d likely be something flashier and bigger than the Cinnabon life, as there’s no one really out to get him, especially once he realises the law isn’t onto him and all of his former business partners have been dealt with, which may lead him into settling down, as his new life wouldn’t be as black and white so to speak, but I believe Jimmy being this far into embracing Saul Goodman would still end up with him committing more crimes and eventually getting caught for god knows what, but maybe not for even necessarily being Saul Goodman, as Saul Goodman isn’t anywhere near as large of a manhunt, so he may only go in for committing minor crimes under his new alias, leading to no confession and no massive jailtime. If this were an actual episode/finale it’d probably be best to leave it ambiguous, kind of like Jesse’s ending in Breaking Bad, as Jimmy gets a clean slate again, and it’s up to the audience to decide if he reforms and settles down or the clean slate will also fail and the cycle will repeat itself just his as the clean slate Chuck gave him did throughout Better Call Saul.
    Note: still a great episode and I enjoyed it! But I felt like everyone getting off so easily didn’t feel very breaking bad so had a crack at writing my own, and hey if the still-cooking-through-the-cancer idea halfway through could make a good episode then go ahead to use it.
    Note 2: I’ve had to edit this quite a bit for inconsistencies eg I said Walter still kills the witnesses but without Lydia to get the names or a reason to kill them as the offshore account isn’t found, this point is pointless and impractical, or better plot points, eg instead of Walt’s cancer not coming back he stays in the game for his ego, or the entire Jimmy storyline I just edited in right now, etc. Due to a mixture of comment feedback and me thinking it over myself, and for any feedback point out inaccuracies, thank you. This may lead to contradictions in the rest of the comment but I’ve checked over and it seems fine, but if you spot any while reading that is why.

    What if Howard refused to take the blame for not allowing Jimmy into HHM? Or, what if Chuck told him himself?
    This would drastically change their character dynamic, since Jimmy wouldn't really have a reason to hate Howard, and would distance himself from Chuck far earlier on in the timeline

    Nice vid as always, Any chance we could see a "What if Gus survived into season 5?" episode in the future?
    And also, Ik you said you'll never do "What if Walt got Cancer Early?" Because he wouldn't be able to use Jesse, but I think if he did, he would sort of take over Daniel Wormalds role in the earlier seasons, except he would be trying to go deeper into the game. Mike might even be able to mentor him, since he would meet him very early on. And he would have a similar bond with Nacho as he does with Jesse. I still think you would be able to make it work. Definitely anticipating the first what if more, tho.
