  • We still use sheet music on stage, but I believe there are much better ways than using music stands!

What do you use to view charts in your church?

Have been using PiaScore since it’s free. Planning Center Music Stand looks interesting though.

So we integrated to Music Stand my 2nd year at my church and it is remarkable. We do precisely the same thing as you do with only the backline using ipads and nobody using them in the front. So I'm one of the drummers and we do use an iPad for us just for simple charting and stuff because we have choir and orchestra and you know that music can require a lot of hits and accents that are needed. Our horn and percussion players still use music stands with sheet music, but I would hope to see them try iPads sometime! Just thought I share what we do.

Music stand is great...if you aren't the drummer. I've spent hours trying to learn songs and memorize them because there's only a few sources out there that make drum tutorials/covers/playthrough and include charts or sheet music. They always forget the drummer, and the drums and bass are the base of the mix/band!

Do you have a charting system? We have a drummer that charts a simple chart for each song and then has an iPad mounted onto a drum stand. I can ask him how he likes to do it.

On the Sundays I play, I set the music on top of the control box (for the electric set). It does slide around but I guess one of the advantages of not having a real kit.

As long as you leave the music stand in the Senior Adult Room. I need it on Wednesday Evenings. Thanks

Hi Ryland, Helpful video as usual. How do you keep each individual piano players notations separate? Do the different piano players sign in to music stand to get their own notations? Does that make sense what I’m asking?
Also, how far is your stage from your teleprompter TV and how big is the TV? Thanks

      1. They each sign in with their pco login. We upload a “string reduction” and a “piano/vocal” when we have them. Anyone can choose any of the files associated with a song.
      2. The teleprompter tv is about 60 ft away. It’s 70 inches.

We're slowly moving towards no music stands for the singers. We got our stage display on the back wall about 3 months ago, and folks tend to use that way more than their stands anyways. I'm trying to get better at memorizing the chord structures of songs so I can get rid of mine.
