    I love Onsong. I've been using it for many years now. The formatting is a big deal, but even more importantly is the ability to add capos, change keys, etc. Also, printing out chord sheets for our band allows me to customize things like having the actual song order, removing the capo, etc. If you get real froggy you can project your lyrics from Onsong to a projector or TV. You can create a virtual music stand for other musicians and just use a small tv screen or something if you didn't want to print out music. You can link together all of the iPads. It is well worth the money if you utilize the features.
    It's also a great way to keep church songs and secular songs in separate folders lol.

      Does it need the planning center to work? Can I Import songs from CCLI?

    • @jape2116
      @jape2116 Před 3 lety

      @@0bikej526 I think that there is a way to do it, but I've never found it reliable. Sometime it's imported via PDF, other times it's just the lyrics. I find it easier to look for the song via ultimate-guitar and copy and paste and finalie the chart that way.

    The answer is OnSong for solo/freelance worship leaders. Being able to project lyrics, run click and tracks, and have sheet music up all on one page is absolutely amazing.
    I will say that Music Stand tends to work better for larger corporate worship bands, purely because of the Planning Center connection. A lot of churches get addicted to Planning Center and live or die by it.

  • @thedandiamond

    I have worked with OnSong for five or six years now. I lead the worship band with 8 members. At first it was great. But now you pay for items that do not work. After an update, I could no longer send txt versions via email. I wrote about the problem, they admitted it was their error but after a year there has been no fix. I now send in pdf format but the mailing is hit or miss. Sometimes the group gets it. Sometimes they do not. I have to email to myself to make sure it went out. I paid the annual fee but am now searching for something much easier and flawless.

    Hi Jake, a question for you. I currently print my charts from either SongSelect or Worship Initiative. I would like to start using those PDF with a pad or tablet. Any suggestions for that. I don't need to create or edit any chart, don't need to tie in with any other tools and I will be the only musician using this. Thanks in advance.

      Hey Max. I was checking out this video to learn a bit more about these apps, but I personally use and have my entire worship PDF library in an app called Forscore. It's an excellent app for music and PDFs. It's easy to build sets, tag songs, add notes and rearrange pages in a very small and efficient app. You don't hear much about it in the worship scene because it was designed for all musicians (worship, classic, etc). Check it out, I highly recommend it.

    Hi Jake, great video.
    I play saxophone and like to use the lead sheet music. We use the Music Stand app at church which is great for the others in the band if using chords/lyrics because they are able to change the key if needed. Is there anyway I can access the lead sheet music and change the key when appropriate? At the moment I have to import the lead using it as a pdf which means the key is set and can’t be changed.
    Mark.

    Question about Music Stand annotation. I marked up a song on a given week. Beauty! The same song popped up two weeks later, but that set didn’t have the annotations, obviously cuz this was a different set. Once I opened the chart in the new week and went back, the annotations were gone! Seems like it subbed in the new one? Is there a copy of the marked up chart saved somewhere? If so where, and how can I use annotated charts on different weeks? Thanks!

    I’d like to find an app like this that doesn’t require a monthly fee. I remember the good ole’ days when you just bought a piece of software and used it. Seems all the good ones now want you to pay a monthly fee and lock you in forever. My folder and printed out chord sheets don’t charge me a fee.

    wish planning center had a key change option... unless you are the organizer of the songs you are the one with picking the key - if you are a guitarist and want to play the song with a capo - you have to ask the organizer of the set list to set up the song in the capo'd key you are playing in.... with onsong you can just change the key on the fly if you want to

    Well - just saying you can put PDF's on Google Drive and then just call them up on the iPad. No setting up and all that stuff like with MusicStand. I think most people just want to store and call up a PDF and use it when playing. But then again I am new to using these apps as having used good old paper for a million years. I tried OnSong but apparently you have to pay to use it - did not see the feature to import PDF into it.

    • @projectnathanadam6232
      @projectnathanadam6232 Před rokem

      You can transpose in the music stand app. I have used it for a couple years and you can save that key as a separate version so when you click a song in your library, it will show,. Christ be magnified in C or in G and you can label it under your name to know that's your version that you like to play it in.

      @@heidishea645 There are always cons of course but always about application;
      1. Projecting it is tough because it doesnt allow reformatting ie Bold/size etc (we use to just have a large screen for the team and tabs for leadsheet requirements.)
      2. Import of chordpro can be quite buggy atm as it doesnt always follow codes properly
      3. Problem with all the apps, no count in option for click tracks. As a percussionist/leader, I want to just hear and 8 beat, 4 beats to cue me and 4(dep on time sig) to count everyone else in. I dont get how this is not a thing...I def don want to play to a click but tempo is so important to simply start a song.
