My three year old son also died near the same time, so this song always opens the wound a bit. I can feel his pain, the same as mine. Thanks for the reaction.

I lost my son to brain cancer 10 years ago. This song is very cathartic. A father's grief from one Eric to another.
Makes you stop and think of any of your loved ones, things can change your whole life in a blink of an eye.
So sad, but my favorite Eric Clapton song of all time. The studio version is full acoustic and sounds just like this performance.
Hopefully remind us all to tell our loved ones we love them.

I don't usually prefer Live performances... But this is a rare exception.
Song was inspired by Jimmy Cliff, "Many Rivers To Cross," so this version tips the hat to that, the normal song is more straight-up blues/rock that most "react" videos use. Plus they use the "official" video which had clips from the forgettable movie "Rush."

He doesn't feel he belongs in heaven because he not only feels he failed to be there for his son but he also, was not there when he fell from the balcony.
He lost his innocent little boy, so he has the right to sing that song!
