This song is about his young son who died in a fall from the balcony. Extremely emotional knowing the basis of the song.

My three year old son also died near the same time, so this song always opens the wound a bit. I can feel his pain, the same as mine. Thanks for the reaction.

I’m so sorry for your pain. I have two sons & can’t even imagine the sorrow if I lost either one of them. My heart is with you.

The older version was performed about and a year after his son died. The emotion in that will rip your heart out 💜

Eric Clapton the only person to be elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times with The Yardbirds with cream and as a solo artist the best guitar player alive

I lost my son to brain cancer 10 years ago. This song is very cathartic. A father's grief from one Eric to another.

So sad, but my favorite Eric Clapton song of all time. The studio version is full acoustic and sounds just like this performance.

This song is dedicated to Conor Clapton.
Eric Clapton suffered a parent's worst nightmare on March 20, 1991. In a heartbreakingly tragic accident, Clapton's 4 1/2-year-old son Conor fell out of an open window in the high-rise. He was living in the New York condominium with his mother,

  • @EricDavidRocks

Song was inspired by Jimmy Cliff, "Many Rivers To Cross," so this version tips the hat to that, the normal song is more straight-up blues/rock that most "react" videos use. Plus they use the "official" video which had clips from the forgettable movie "Rush."

Oh Lordy...the rabbit hole of Clapton...where do we start? Layla? She's Waiting? It's good/fun when he mixes it up with others as Santana "The Calling".

You’ll love Crossroads, by Cream. Features Clapton on both guitar and vocals when he was a young man (1968). Check it out. You won’t be sorry.
