These Chords...That Bass Line...That Voice...Miss Da Old Jamiroquai Vibe... RIP Toby...
Favorite Jamiroquai song. So underrated.
Pero si es guaro perico popper 2c sexo
Probably is the most underrated song of them
True, My fav JK tune too!
Same, especially when they performed it in Brazil 1997 !
Stuart is a genius
This song changed my life.
I love that bassline. It rides the edge of almost being too busy, but never crosses it, creating a rhythmic tension and release with space. It's brilliant and savagely funky.
Toby’s Rhodes mastery is out of this world. Intricate yet sounds So simple and open . It leaves the song a lot of room to breathe and highlight Zender’s balls-to-the wall funk bass grooves
It's interesting because even though it seems so simple (specially rhythmically), what makes his playing complex is the amount of on-the-fly variation he has when playing
The old Jamiroquai crew puts me in a trance. Words merely cannot express how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this.
Stu was 20 years old when they recorded Return Of The Space Cowboy - incredible!
One of the best acid jazz and funk songs ever made
This song is more funk than acid jazz.
I miss you guys. One of the baddest, tightest bands to come out.
It’s March 2024 and these songs are still funky and jazzy!!!
Utterly wonderful. This eclipses the album version. My favourite tune from the band who changed my life as a 16yo jazzhead. RIP Toby. thank you Stu for those space baselines. Never the same band after you left.
This song is a masterwork in Acid Jazz!
This is Funk music
I would definetely add some acid jazz to this songs definiton.@@DaveRylenkov
Acid funk
This song and "Alright" always got me. Those are the songs you can actually see Jay, Stuart, Toby, Sola and Derrick having a great time.
Those sweet Toby's chords
I love the album version but god dammit this version is 10 times better
I miss so much this soulful Jamiroquai era...Damm. so much loooooove just like the song says...
If that ain't edited, it's one masterful recording.
The percussion is gorgeous...
now thats a definitive jamiroquai tune..RIP toby what a jazzy solo
Love the original (still my favourite J. track).. but this version is awesome - bass/keys don't get so lost behind the vocals, great hearing the music taking more prominence!
Its called dynamic range ;)
in my opinion Jamiroquai best tune
I miss you in Jamiroquai Mr. Zender
We all do!!
This band... in these days... best I've ever heard, miss those days
Stu Zender you legend. Thank you for these! You are the bass god!
amo esta canción! mi especial y favorita canción
Jamiroquai lost it's neo soul/jazz (whatever you want to call it) flavour when Toby quit. It all got a bit too disco pop after that. Original line up nailed it, thanks for the upload Stuart!
clavdig ... They lost it before A funk odessey...Turbo-Disco and Hard electro-dance beats won in favour of neo-soul/bassanova jazz funk.
So true. May be good music, but it's definitely not the same. It changed a lot when Stu left too! They made some really good songs after his departure, but it was never the same. :)
Not to mention even before that, when Stu left! Can't take it away from Jay Kay and the rest though. It's still great music, but it's something entirely different.
first Nick, then Stu, then Toby and it was the end of the good Jamiroquai, Paul and Matt are fantastic session musicians but they just work for JK
Jamiroquai have just turned into Simply Red, sadly. I miss the old days where it was like a proper band, you could hear the influences of differing members.
These bass&rhodes lines give me goosebumps, that’s just so amazing.
Damn! You could spend a lifetime trying to disassemble Jamiroquai's music - so very clever.
RIP Toby Smith
😔
It still hurts
Wow, listen to those Jazz chords! I loved Toby Smith's style. When he went, Jamiroquai lost it's cool chill/funk feeling. Those chords are so sweet! Bass is spot on as always too.
I really enjoy listening to some of the old jazz funk vibe that Jamiroquai used to have. The best line up for me will always be Jay, Toby, Stu, Derrick and Wallis.
Mr Zender is bringing back the memories of that bad azz base line....kudos!
Thank God for growing up in the 90's!
this version should be on the album
love this more than the album version, vocals and bass are just perfect
Have you gone astray?
Or lost your way?
You should have seen me yesterday
Well I knew this kind of love
Was written in the stars
It's only once or twice that you're in line with Mr. Moon
Then there was you
You took me on your cloud
Gave me flowers for my pain
But with some degree of certainty
My destiny
Seemed to slip away from me
Before I got to know your name
Just give me a chance
I'll do what you want me to
Everybody wants to dance
So how come I can't dance with you
You really turn me on
You're the one that makes me smile
It's Mr Moon who plays in tune, Mr Moon who knows
And if it's Mr Moon who gives the sign then that's the sign that goes
I never know what to do
Till I'm there with you
Did you lose your mind
But for a day
You don't remember…
my lord this version made me cry thank you Stu 💓 love forever
My favorite song of Jay Kay, I sing this song very loud 🎶🎶🎶
What a band! Deliciously grooving
Just an outstanding 🎵 that just transports one into another dimension of happiness 🕺🏾💃🏽✨️💃🏽🎆🪄. That magical moment of dreams & wishes in❤ to be brought into that place of Eternal bliss in Moonlight 🌕🌛✨️
Jamiroquai knows how to shift one's mood into higher consciousness ✨️✨️🌠🌠💛♥️
What a great track
One of the best bass player in history of music
The ever enigmatic Jamiroquai chord progressions... One of the best examples for that matter, you guys invented something there!
What a tight unit yet loose at the right amount never sounding mechanical and repetitive, this is just genius..Stu I just have to know! who came up with these crazy progressions?
toby.
I would imagine...this is keyboard players thinking
R.I.P. Toby.
Mr. Zender - you are the best! 💗
obrigada, querido.
que sonzeraaa, grooveriaaaa
my favorite song!
bas, piano, percussion, drums and great voice - that's all you need to make a perfect sound, no effects, no autotune, pure genius and talent! love it!
If only I could get an instrumental version of this track!
4.10 for probably the best bass solo in the world👌🏼
Since then allways my most played music since spotify each year! Legend!
Amazing 🤘😎😍
Damn! Definitely a bygone era mate. Thanks for sharing and reminding just how tight a unit you guys were🤘🤘🤘. Back in 94', this track alone compelled me to pick up a bass! Cheers!!
Thanks Stu , we all miss u in Jamiroquai!
Pure class! Love the old tape graphic in the video! Nostalgia lol
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for posting this!!! I absolutely love hearing new old stuff from by far the best lineup of Jamiroquai artists.
DAT bass sound. C'est véritablement un des morceaux qui m'a donné envie de jouer de la basse, merci Stu pour l'influence que tu as eu sur moi! Respect from France
moi ce fut when you gonna learn
Cool 🤙🎶
Dope bass line!!!! :D
Thanks for uploading Stu! This is a fantastic recording. Even better than the album version in my opinion!
Wow this version is incredible. Such talented musicians.
Thank you stu God bless you
wow!, Bass magic!.
Pure gold
Jay &
Stuart &
Toby &
Derrick
& Simon
Yes dont forget Simon Katz.
This person is playing rehearsal of the song and not Simon and guitarist of the first orginal of the band and Gavin Dodds 1992-1994.
You guys are forgetting Nick Van Gelder. My opinion is he had a more groovy playing than Derrick.....
and Sola
SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!! Tks for sharing!
Pinche Señor Luna está súper esta Rola! La verdad es una Pieza Maestra de Jamiroquai!!!
GOLD!
Keys here are so damm beautiful 💜
Perfect. Kudos guys! Especially like Mr. Smith parts on the Rhodes.
so dope!!!
Absolute gold, Stu!
RIP Toby
Thanks Stu!
Straight from the tape!
LOVES YOU STU !!! (Bs.As, ARG.)
yesssss jamiroquai eargasm
Love the bass sound.... :)
Sir Zender, a special request: Post your studio sessions from REVOLUTION 93, please! I love this song, in particular. ;)
King of the Bass!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I've changed my mind: One of the top 3 Stuart Zender basslines of all time
Hey buddy , can you post a vid of you busting out some of this one - bass only, mate c'mon! PleaSZ ! Mitch 👍
Cherish!!
Wonderful 😎☀️
bass line is snappy & thirsty always starting it on the up beat & thus finding different notes on the up beat is the beginning of playing bass behind the beat , though guys like ourselves, who are just outside the big big circuit sometimes go through early stages of never quite getting all the way down enough on the bigger big beat notes , dope bass line great song ,
I already heard a thousand times
Ça c est du groove la vraie vibe quelle époque...
Best bass line ever!!
love what you did in the reff bass line, kinda unique tune
Essa linha de contrabaixo é fantástica!
Gran registro!!!
👉🏿Stuart.... this Gano Grills here. 👋🏿 thanks for sharing this my guy. What a treat😃😃✊🏿 You killed this bass Bro🎼🎵
Perhaps my favorite version of this song, only the Astoria 1994 version comes close.
I love how Toby's Rhodes is more at the front in this.
Also, the Rhodes solo at the end is crystal clear here, it was criminally obscured with Jay's vocals in the album version, I don't know why Jay chose to sing over it.
One has to listen hard to pick it up.
aaggggghhhh!!! love this ⭐️
a great time in the colourful, creative, unique history of British dance music.
can you do a HQ mix of this?
yes bro! pitch is so high! ;D
ah! my favorite!
So Pure
I still remember when my buddy in high school came back to the states after visiting his dad in Japan in 1993. He was like, hey check out this CD I picked up which everyone was listening to and "Emergency on Planet Earth" became the soundtrack to my junior year. To this day, "Emergency On Planet Earth" and "Return of the Space Cowboy" are two of my favorites albums and always in my lineup. Jamiroquai started to lose me after "A Funk Odyssey" but I believe both Stu and then Toby were gone by then so there you go.
Toby quit just after a funk odyssey
