That's awesome. I Found Trivium before they even released their first album. It was when they released the demo video for "Like light to the flies" and for years, that was always my warm up song. I told everyone I knew at the time, that this band would be huge one day and here we are. This is one band I can say I knew about before they were anything! I love it!
Another funny story, I wanted to cover "like light to the flies" at my first battle of the bands, but the rest of the band said no because quote " nobody even knows who Trivium is." That just tickles me pink haha
Light to flies was the first song I ever learned..struggled for hours but I swear it advanced my playing by months and by the time I could play it along to the album my progress was miles ahead of what it would have been learning to play guitar thr traditional way
What's interesting is that in the guitar clinic Matt did on his channel couple of months ago he talked about the way they wrote like light to flies and he said that HE wrote the opening riff which is the one Corey is showing in this video claiming this is the first riff he wrote for the band ...hmmm
if you've played in bands you would know that's a pretty common thing, people claim shit from each other just for the sake of it.. I'm not taking anyone's side on this, just saying it happens, happened a lot to me aswell
