    Thanks to your instructional collection, I've cammed two VHR engines in my apartment garage, properly installing VVEL control shafts + stepper motors to your 1.585" metric. No fancy equipment either- harbor freight calipers and technical measuring set.
    Position sensor calibration afterwards was a breeze via Ecutek; by stroke of luck, the first engine was already within the voltage tolerance before any position sensor adjustment.
    You the man Seth! 🍾

    Just got a 2010 g37x recently. It’s throwing a code for p0300 and p0011. Car is in limp mode with SES light on. No check engine, no oil pressure light. Gallery gaskets just got replaced and car is filled with 5w30. Could it be a vvel solenoid or sensor issue ? Or could it be something bigger

    P1606 and c1130 here, car is in mega limp mode max 2k rpm’s, rough idle, fastest I can drive is around 5-10 mph. It’s a 2010 with 110k miles. 2.5” intake and exhaust are my only mods, Help would be appreciated it’s my daily.

    I have a brain buster for you Seth.
    Swap car 95 240sx with Uprev flash Nats delete.
    Ok so did a head gasket job on a 2014 VHR motor, kept everything else replaced, seals & such.
    I could have sworn i had the engine in time. However, this motor sat up, clogged injectors idk. Got the heads decked sits pretty at 124mm if im saying that right on all 4 corners for both heads. ( or whatever the spec is i forget) .
    Got it running first crank ! BOOM! AFTER some monitoring, exhuast manifold & downpipe are glowing cherry red.
    I have had Corr performance tell me timing is retarded, too much fuel, too little fuel. Only thing i have not check is fuel injectors. I have reset VVEL with an Autel but no luck. Again, fires up every time. Timing advance read 12° at 1000RPM before i had to shut it off due to glowing headers. Any thoughts?

  • @Novachrono117
    @Novachrono117 Před 5 měsíci

    Hey Seth, you seem very knowledgeable. Whenever you have the time maybe you can point me in the right direction.
    I have a 08 i was getting P0021 so i replaced the cam sensor and the VVT solenoid. I cleared the code, drove it, got it up to 3k & straight back into limp mode. BUT the weird part is that the p0021 was gone & now i'm getting P0345??
    I changed the crank sensor and no luck. Oil pressure is good and a fresh oil change.
    I've researched a lot and there's nothing definitive, but it seems to be pointing to a slipped encoder ring or it jumped time.
    What would be your guess?
    I did replace the clutch, csc, and swapped the flywheel with a Z1 midweight about 5k miles ago. I went "by the book" with the install, torque specs, loctite and all. I'm pretty sure it would've thrown the code earlier if i installed the flywheel wrong, right? ha
    I'll be dying to know what suggestions you have for me.
    I've been struggling with this for a few months now. With my wife about to pop our first kid out, I don't want to pay for a two-way-tow on a roll back for Nissan to charge me $200 for a diagnosis. These day's the extra cash is always needed for another case or two of 556.. maybe some diapers too haha.
    Thanks for your time & awesome video!

    • @sethjoyner391
      @sethjoyner391  Před 2 lety

      Sorry I missed this video....not typically...I've only had them misfire, stumble or run on 3 cylinders from general vvel issues...no start, no fire, may similar to a Toyota problem; however, on these engines the encoder wheel thats pressed into the vtc intake sprocket can actually slip and change its "clocked" orientation in which the cams magnetic sensor can't pick up the base reference point to fire the engine...these sprockets have had factory revisions...the first couple year vq37 can have this problem

    I just finished rebuilding my 370Z. It started up last night. I had to reflash the ECU to my previous tune.
    It is revving up to 3K RPM as if it has a vacuum leak but I'm not sure where that would be.
    I'm really hoping I don't have to get another remote tune from Soho Motorsports or admin tuning.
    I only changed out the head gasket Cometic and put ARP studs in.
    Are you saying that you move that sensor left or right a little bit until it is 0.5 volts then tighten it?
    I did measure 1.585 in before I assembled the VVEL actuators. The motor was set at TDC when assembled and everything seemed to go back in place.
    I was very meticulous and patient with the tear down and rebuild.

    Hey man, im having an issue where i get a weird sputter and spikes on int/t of like 60°/0°, and it just keeps swapping the bank it happens in. Its a 2013 motor and i still have good oil pressure. Ive gotten it to give me a code for each bank, but never at the same time. Also got a random mis code. Im at a loss, its swapped in a g35 sedan. I dealt with a bad swap harness for a year, now this haha. If you have any suggestions for me, id greatly appreciate it.

    • @sethjoyner391
      @sethjoyner391  Před rokem +1

      I guess I'd start with removing and inspecting the vtc cover solenoids and internal dynamic seals (ive had physical grooves on the inside of the sprocket allowing oil pressure to seep past the dynamic and cause inconsistent lock up...overall oil pressure would still be stable.....testing vtc solenoids, checking wiring (also if this is a fresh swap make sure u didn't get ur harnesses for the solenoids backwards, more common on gtr, but shit happens)
