elizabeth laprelle sings live @ the great lakes folk festival, east lansing mi - 8/14/11 -- elizabeth laprelle sings mathey groves a cappella at the marriot
This is magnificent I've played every version of Matty Groves You Tube has to offer. Believe me, there's a lot of them. There are the original British versions and their descendant Appalachian version Elizabeth Laprelle's is top for the mountain versions. She's in the top 2 for all versions.
Beautiful ❤️..I have listened to Maddy Grove from Fairport Convention on a record growing up...I learned it all and sang to kids all these years and this version is beautiful 😍 🤩 breathtaking ❤️. I hope to learn this version ❤️ what a beautiful voice with a beautiful song. Those people laughing really ruined the recording to bad they did that. I would love to hear again without them laughing. Good job to the singer....BEAUTIFUL
Right I thought the same... why are the laughing and I realized they weren't able to grasp the gravity of this story all they heard was found him I'm bed with wife ..them they laugh.... and wife's head gets chopped off and punted ..then again they laugh. Some humans are not on the same wave idk just my take
Her voice is compelling but I notice her little habit of putting her hands of hips. Is that just a mannerism or does she do that deliberately for breath control or something?
This English song has travelled well and found a rightful soul to dwell within.
Certainly the most authentic-sounding version of this song I have encountered.
That girl has an extremely powerful voice, I love that type of singing!
Now this girl can sing! I think I'm in love!
Matty Groves is like the ultramarthon of singing.
A fabulous version of a beautiful song
Amazing. Beautiful. Touches the Soul. Old Scot-Irish in me I guess....

Easily the best rendition of this song. Elizabeth Laprelle is a treasure
This is excellent what I needed to hear! Thank you for posting

Stunning.
It's a variation of Child Ballad 81. The complete Child ballads are up in many places on the internet.

I tend to do that to remind myself to breath into my back but she may now do it out of habit...
People laughed at this? They must think Macbeth is a comedy
She has a powerful voice! Why is the audience laughing? Weird!

Okay, now I know. It was performed in Michigan. “Pearls before Swine” comes to mind.
any one got lyrics?
...way different than the Doc Watson version. ...lovely. Irish-sounding. Sexier too.

It's neither Scottish nor Irish. It's English.
What can you expect from people brought on the snarling of racist obscenities on one note?
Lol what an idiot.
