Parents should sue. It's an indoctrination movie aimed at an unequivocally known demographic of young children. Then the parents actually have to undo the damage after paying to see this monstrosity. Why is the term Child Abuse rattling around in my head?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this movie and expressing your concerns. Understandably, you have reservations about the impact it might have on young children. However, it's important to remember that different people have different interpretations and reactions to media.
While it's true that parents should be aware of the content their children consume, it's also essential to consider that movies often aim to entertain and engage a wide range of audiences. In the end, the decision to watch or not to watch a particular movie lies with the parents.
If you are genuinely concerned about the effects of this movie, it might be helpful to engage in open discussions with other parents or raise awareness about your concerns through appropriate forums. It's always important to promote respectful dialogue and understanding.
Let's remember that everyone has the freedom to express their opinions, and it's through healthy discussions that we can learn from one another and make informed decisions for our families. Thank you for contributing to the conversation.

When my friends and I played Barbies, Ken was always marginalized. He was rarely taken out of the box, no one wanted to be Ken, who was indeed more of an accessory. I haven't seen the film, but had to laugh when I heard the plot.

Piers! It's a JOKE. It's not that deep. He's exactly right... Barbie is a girls toy, it's never been about Ken, this is how girls play with Barbie. But also remember... Ken , the so-called village idiot, was able to come back and implement a patriarchy im ONE DAY and the women all ENJOY it! What do you think about that??? You could argue that it's saying that women are easy to control and actually like serving men. The whole thing is supposed to be goofy and exaggerated... It's all a joke and it's not that deep. If you don't like it, the movie is not for you.

@@tomsmith6513CAUTION, SPOILER' the women are "brainwashed" in a day by the Kens into enjoying the patriarchy, then they get "brainwashed" back into the matriarchy (which is really what Barbie world SHOULD be because they are toys designed for girls). However, they end up feeling bad for treating the Kens like they are "second class citizens". At the end of the movie, Barbie chooses to LEAVE the matriarchy and come to the real world... If the real world treated her that poorly and the matriarchy is really how things should be, why would she choose the real world be her own free will?

I want someone to define patriarchy in their own words and give examples of it.

    • @shevaunvan-hoff4069
      @shevaunvan-hoff4069 Před rokem

Patriarchy refers to a system of social organization or power structure in which men hold the primary positions of power and authority, both in the public and private realms. It is characterized by the dominance of men in political, economic, and social institutions, as well as the enforcement of traditional gender roles and expectations.
In a patriarchal society, men typically have more access to resources, decision-making power, and opportunities, while women often face systemic disadvantages and inequalities. Patriarchy can perpetuate harmful gender stereotypes, restrict women's autonomy, and contribute to gender-based discrimination and violence.
Feminist scholars and activists have long critiqued patriarchal structures and advocated for gender equality and the dismantling of oppressive systems. It is important to engage in conversations and discussions about patriarchy to understand its impact on society and work towards creating more inclusive and equitable communities.
Examples of patriarchy can be observed in various aspects of society, including:
      1. Gender Pay Gap: Women often earn less than men for performing the same job or work of equal value.
      2. Leadership and Decision-Making: Men tend to occupy more positions of power and authority in politics, businesses, and other institutions, resulting in a lack of female representation and influence.
      3. Gender-Based Violence: Women are disproportionately affected by domestic violence, sexual harassment, and assault due to patriarchal attitudes that perpetuate power imbalances and entitlement.
      4. Gender Roles and Expectations: Societal norms and expectations often reinforce traditional gender roles, assigning men as the primary breadwinners and women as caretakers, limiting opportunities for individuals to deviate from these prescribed roles.
      5. Reproductive Rights and Control: Patriarchal systems can impact women's reproductive autonomy, such as restrictions on contraception, abortion access, and family planning decisions.
      6. Objectification and Sexualization: Women's bodies are frequently objectified and reduced to sexual objects in media, advertising, and everyday interactions, reinforcing power dynamics and inequalities.
      7. Double Standards: Patriarchy often perpetuates double standards, such as judging women's behaviour, appearance, and sexuality more harshly than men's.
      8. Gender Discrimination in Education and Employment: Discrimination and bias can limit educational and career opportunities for women, leading to fewer leadership positions and greater occupational segregation.
It is important to note that these examples may vary across different cultures and societies, and progress has been made in challenging patriarchal structures. However, these examples highlight some of the manifestations of patriarchy that persist in many parts of the world.

I haven’t seen it. I’m not a feminist. But I have to tell you that from the promos, Ken is portrayed just how little girls portray Ken as they play. Little girls don’t understand masculinity or what it means to be a man. I just assumed that was the comedy of this movie? Haha maybe I should just watch it.
But when I learnt that barbie did drag I didn’t want to watch it. 🙃

😂 it’s just a mop of hair 😂 My question about him, is how does someone grow up in to adulthood still mispronouncing the “sound” of “th” as “f”. He constantly said …the fing is… instead of …the thing is… given he said “the” shows he is capable of pronouncing the phonetic sound so I’m assuming it’s lazy speech. 😮

@@pollyanna1112 Purely lazy speech/ignorance. This child-like manner of speech also replaces -ing endings with -ink (or simply removes the 'g'), as in 'anyfink' in place of 'anything' and 'nuffin' in place of 'nothing'. This accent (and slang) originated in the east end of London and in the county of Essex to the east of London, where many Londoners moved post-WWII.
Also prevalent in this accent is the Glottal Stop which cuts off 't' sounds before they can form. "Isn't it?" becomes "Inni'?".
Fillers such as 'At the end of the day...', 'Don't get me wrong...', 'Jnartameen?' (Do you know what I mean?), 'Litchr'lee' (Literally), 'Schtri'lee' (Strictly) are also rife. It's not a pretty accent, and as a proofreader and RP voice-over makes me cringe.
