This guy was absolute class, and incredibly consistent.If his knee hadn’t been busted by an overzealous tackle when playing for England against Hungary in 1981, he may well have been playing into the early Ferguson era.A tremendous player.
Id swap it all in a flash!! Modern football has the tribalism of going to the fucking opera!!! Sky tv and all seater stadia did far more damage to football than hooliganism ever did. As a kid going on the Kippax, the smell of piss, beer, cheap burgers and more beer and piss was part of the game, standing up generated its own atmosphere, which had the heart ripped out of it with all seater. Everyone stands up anyway. Even though we were appalling back in the 80s when I started going I'd swap it for this theme park bollocks we have today. Saying that I still have a season ticket but I don't look forward to football like I used too, it was my whole week back then either planning an away or thinking about a home game now it's just something to do at weekend. Funny how time alters your memories! This was my era of going and if you'd have said 1977 to me, I'd have had City with 1, maybe 2 pens at OT. I'm stunned to see they had all the Scoreboard End and that it was packed! Doesn't look like we had strict segregation at that point - certainly no dead areas between the fans. You can see some United fans surrounded by City at the start of the United Rd side (from the Scoreboard) after the first goal. Loved going back then - especially derby days. As most say below, ad we don't have this atmosphere now.

He came back in mid-December and, of the 21 league and cup matches between Christmas and mid-April, United W 16 D 3 L 2. By then they were in the FA Cup semis and they threw three or four of the remaining league matches before winning at Wembley.

I am a Liverpool fan but I saw a lot of Man United that season and Buchan was incredible 76 -77.
