- Lawrence Webb and Frank Drewett pitch for £50,000 investment in their patented pedal device to open a wheelie bin lid and Frank gives a demonstration of the simple labour-saving product but will any of the Dragons take a punt?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

You deserve an award for this one 😂

Theo: But it was for your mum.
I love it when Peter comes in at the end and just bosses it with his speech.
Deborah instantly regretted using the word "punt"
Peter is a smooth talker. that's what a good business man does .
Deb can seem quite firm and abrubt and Theo can come across quite angry when he speaks.
Punt was quite a harsh term to use.

You can buy wheelie bins that have pedals. :)
@@lynnemorgan3808 its a uk based bin. They don't have pedals it would be good if they had this
I already have a lid lifter - it's called my hand.
I really don't like how incredibly patronizing many of them were towards him. Utterly disrespectful, very arrogant. His invention, though simple, is actually a good idea, and he's obviously a principled man. I'd definitely show him some respect.
Totally agree
you'd invest in this though? lol

Yeah but if you go in with a lowball like 5 hoping they’ll gouge you up to 20 they’ll tear you apart for overvaluing the company lol It’s a catch-22

He's manipulative, so I disagree. Deborah is the one I'd call that.
This is legit a genius move by Peter. He bids on the patent, not the company. He recognises that the company will potentially fold and he'll never see his return. But a solid and complex patent will be worth a lot of money. Amazing.
Nice sign of respect to Frank, for everyone to get up and wish him well 👍doesn't matter how much money you have manners cost nothing but show alot of wealth of character ❤️👍

I don't understand Theo's question ... how does your past career as a P.E teacher correlate to this? umm... wtf? how does your question correlate to anything?
Exactly, Duncan himself start off as an ice-cream man and then went on to other ventures. Rude and hypocritical for him to say that to this guy
It wasn't Theo who asked this question. It was James Khan

He never gets it either. He's far too old headed

I think it would be broken in no time once the garbage man gets a hold of the wheelie bin.
I definitely think it should be removed before putting it out on garbage day.
@@PurplePinkRed exactly but removing and putting doesnt justify its purpose if your gona spend time removing and putting u might as well lift the lid lol, all the time and effort saved in opening the lid created time and effort removing and putting back the lid lifter!! Well, that could've bin a lot worse. Thought they were going to flip their lids over this one. I know some people think it's rubbish, but I thought it was wheely good.

By not insulting those guys and by being respectful, Peter bagged that deal.
The issue is leaving it on the bin and somebody nicking it .... people nick bins so wouldn’t bat an eyelid at stealing the pedal and/or people will get bored carrying it with them every time they use the bin
This should be in Lakeland, Nisbets, disabled equipment shops, B&Q, supermarkets by the bin bags...I've never seen one. I dont live in a wheelie bin area, but I would definitely pick this up.

Dutch company Engels Logistics has been selling a similar system for at least well over a decade. In the food sector, this type of lid opener is mandatory.
"Theo Profitis" hahah. Those damn subtitles.
Deborah didn't chuckle, extend an arm and say "Would you like to go and talk to the wall!"
You can tell when someone is going to make an investment when the video is more than ten minutes long
Not really there are some with 15 and no investment
And when the dustbinmen clip it to the wagon and it jolts violently does the lid open ? does the lifter stay on ? will the lid even open when it jolts ? or do the binmen have to press the pedal and open the lid before they stick it on ?
I think this would be useful if it could be fitted to larger trash bins used on colleges. I dread trying to maneuver the heavy trash in my arms so I can lift the heavy lid of the dumpster and toss the heavy bags in. A solid idea with lots of potential
Lots of people have trouble with lifting bin lids. The patent seems fairly strong
In Greece all public bins have pedals installed, I am sure it is so in other countries too.
Totally get you .. I m always binging on dragons den love it . ..
I love the sagacity of the older man, Theo was really impressed, is hard to see that in a positive way.
Someone bought a thesaurus..
Simple and effective, BUT everyone I know uses the handles to push the bin against a wall so they can use a handle when it's full to pull the bin to its emptying spot for the bin men, therefore when the bin is in daily use it would not be the right way round to fit the device.
I live in italy and all city bins have these pedals and im glad they do. I Dont know if they bought them from these two guys.
Seems like a neat idea. My only concern is if it would work with those garbage trucks that have the claw and grab the bin itself to empty it. Then again idk how commonplace they are in the first place.
Awesome episode peter was loving that one 😂🤣.
Peter is an animal - love his surprise offers
I have three bins outside my house and would love to have pedal on all of those
What a wheely good pitch. At least.....that's what I was lid to believe. Some thought it was rubbish, thinking - bin there, done that. At least they have it in the bag now.
To install this every week ON and OFF …looks genius at first, but the prospect of extra work to take it of before bin day ...hmm it is hard enough to remember to put my bin out at 11pm before Wednesday :) ....and what if you have separate bins for recycling glass and paper and is Tuesday and You are busy ... it is convenient if it is installed but :) ...I have conflict in my head :)
Who can't lift up a bin lid but can lift the bag of rubbish to put in it?
Brilliant. I near fell off m'chair. Theo..... "Would Mrs P use it? Well...After dragging the bins all the way down the drive and back, putting that on is no hardship. So I'm sure she would do it" Hahahahahahahahah
