Holy shit…………….. I’m mind blown 🤯 You did such a good job and this little beast is unbelievable too… This is really cool I remember I was 16yo and was saying that this track will be unforgettable because even if the sound got old with years because electronic music evolving a lot (I was already making electronic music), the feeling of this song will stay very strong forever, at least to me… !! I had the QY100 when I was younger, it was like the best sketch pad for music, I pawned it because I was young and didn't know any better, boy what a mistake, seeing this makes me want it back, it's good to see people still using it.
It's crazy how different MIDI-based electronic music gear looks now compared to (whenever this came out, it's surprisingly difficult to find a release date). My first groovebox is the Novation Circuit, and this QY70 looks like a handheld game console of some kind haha. It's clearly capable, but on just looking at something like that, my mind assumes it's like a toy. Strange how Volcas look less like toys, and yet are less capable than this.
@@mikeexits 1997 was the release date. I got one of the last units from the original batch. Cost me £560 and I still use it today. In fact I bought a spare in beautiful condition for around £50 on Ebay a few years ago as I couldn't be without one. An incredible piece of kit even today in my opinion 22 years on! Prices of second hand units have unsurprisingly increased in recent times as a result of these demos, with averages prices over £100 now. Still a steal for MIDI lovers
Just bought one. Never owned one, but I've had DB50XG (threw it away, what an idiot), SW1000XG (gave to a work colleague), RM1x (sold, but I re-purchased and had to replace all the switches). The QY100 I bought looks to be in great shape, boxed and with manuals.
I found out robert miles passed away the other day its a bit sad on of the first cd's my older brother gave me as a kid was a burned copy of "Dreamland" His music sounds like a whole 'nother universe yet to be explored God Bless
The QY70 is a beast of an instrument, even to this day. I totally love mine, and if it ever breaks I'll buy another. Still very easy to get hold of one. Yamaha totally got this one right, apart from the lack of backlit display 👌👍
A new groovebox sampler that would kill MPC and Roland. Yamaha have always been innovative, generous in the capabilities left to the user's imagination to exploit and always offering something unique. I would imagine a groovebox sampler sequencer with 3 effects blocks like on an A5k midi in, out, through, audio interface, controller surface with hands on eq and 3 Aux sends with multiple ins and outs and on-board recording like on the new Tascam Model / Zoom Live Series. If they can add some sounds of the Montage and allow for sampling import with 16 midi channels mute/solo allowing automation I would pay for the price they're asking!
Sensational! Very musical! Really great mood, somewhat nostalgic, I like it very much. You are a very gifted musician. Thanks for your nice music, the instrumental polyphony in the background (sequencer) and the colours merging in the big reverb, all this is enthralling. Best greetings from Central Europe :-)
He'd run out of polyphony rather quick and yell "Scheisse!!! Zhe low polyphony iz holding me Bach!" He'd Throw his wig on the floor stomping it for a minute, fix his attire and storm out of the room like a diva. I mean, that's how I picture it.
Bach was familiar with Stylophone and composed a limited number of variations however eat fish on a Friday so therefore he couldn't attend his beans and eat fluff instead.
Watching you perform this gives you the credibility you need unlike the person who made his version on MC 303 who only shows a picture of the machine but doesn't show us him making the song. It's okay for people to say they don't make fakes but unless you show us like you have on this one, then its always difficult to believe somebody when they make a song that sounds so like the original. Well done :)
I know the MC303 version, & all sounds came for shure from the MC just not from its sequencer But u act like this vid wasnt edited/playbacked, not saying its fake, but it proves nothing :)
I've got a QY-100 - if they could allow for saving MIDI files on an SD card, make the keyboard touch sensitive and modrenize some of the sounds, I'd get the updated model. On the Qy-100, about 30% of the sounds are good, 30% are OK and about 40% are terrible -- mainly the sound effects. Overall though, it's a great, portable studio.
incredible work! can the qy70 import projects? because this would be so fun to see how the full song was tracked out... might have to dig up my ol' unit 😅
Kinda funny that you're pretending that you made this (unless you're the person who created the midi back in 1995) because this is a 1to1 match of that original XG midi file.
I can't believe it! I had yesterday the big luck to buy the QY 100 on the flee market for only 10€. The seller don't know what he give away. As i told him after the buy what it is, he was really angry. :-)
. amazing soundsI cant believe,it all came thru that small sequencer. yamaha qy series
I was always amazed at people who pushed these things too their limits. Great work.

I totaly agree with you... I had 18 years when I heard that song. That song built the musician I am ! RIP Roberto.
And you're dang right, this song is a classic.

@@6581punk I used to have a QY10. I liked it, but I have to admit, it limited compared to this.
It almost sounds like the original might have been produced on one of these machines! Good job!
it was Yamaha QS 300- big brother of this one, with the same sounds
You think this sounds like the original?! Nope that one ist closer czcams.com/video/DJOZOQg8Khc/video.html

Wow that's amazing.
Finally, someone who's got the piano part correct.
Not really :)
I found out robert miles passed away the other day
its a bit sad

was a burned copy of "Dreamland"
His music sounds like a whole 'nother universe yet to be explored
God Bless
Beautiful! That amazing verb is onboard? Holy cow! NowI have to dig around inside my QY20! Those Yamaha guys really killed it with the QY70.
Yamaha have always bundled a pretty decent FX unit ever since their workstation days, SY77 etc.
The QY70 is a beast of an instrument, even to this day. I totally love mine, and if it ever breaks I'll buy another. Still very easy to get hold of one. Yamaha totally got this one right, apart from the lack of backlit display 👌👍
what a nice way to revisit a classic
Beautiful. RIP Robert 😥
I was just looking about getting one so clicked on this to see what they can do and god damn! I mean this is one hell of an ad for Yamaha.
I've still got my QY100. I may have to dig it out as i never really looked at it properly. Excellent!
Amazing work, had no idea these little machines sounded this good, damn!!
I have a QY70 and totally recognize these sounds! These are QY70 sounds! This is a masterpiece!
thank you Roberto Concina alias Rert Miles (Fleurier, 3 novembre 1969 - Ibiza, 9 maggio 2017)
Fleurier, in Switzerland.
Excellent Work
yamaha should release a new one based on the reface dx engine plus some drums
That would be rad

That would be totally awesome
What they should do is put the op six sounds and drum kits in a box with the QY70s sequencing and effects. I would buy it immediately.
That little YAMAHA can do all of that? That's Crazy!
Top job, if it wasn't for the drums I'd say this sounds damn near just like the original. Awesome work!
lovely sound, amazing skill

Amazing control over your machine! excellent!!
fantastic job getting that complete song in there wow!
Can you imagine if a great composer like J S Bach could do with that little machine. This is quite impressive.
He'd run out of polyphony rather quick and yell "Scheisse!!! Zhe low polyphony iz holding me Bach!" He'd Throw his wig on the floor stomping it for a minute, fix his attire and storm out of the room like a diva. I mean, that's how I picture it.

We have many composers today that are as good as JS Bach.
I had this MIDI file years ago, played it with my DB50XG and then later the SW1000XG. Was awesome.
I still have the MIDI file. Used to play it on my Yamaha SW60XG card. :)
Brillante interpretación, solo Robert Miles la hubiera podido interpretar. Thank you!!
Oh dayum, this is amazing work !
You are a masochist, for doing this with the QY70.....
Beautiful masterpiece.. Can;t believe you did it on here! :D
Brilliant. Wish I still had mine.
The good 90s stuff. Dope presentation. 👍🏽
MARAVILLOSO el mejor cover que he escuchado
Super!! Sounds awesome ❤
Awesome. I bought a QY20 when it first came out. Bought another 20 years later and both I think burned out when I plugged them to a casio.. 😪
i made a really good children cover with the yamaha cs1x in the 90s. this one you did here sounds great!
Please, more QY-70 Videos!
I ran this through Shazam, and that is a PERFECT replica of the track!!!! Now I want the synth!!
Not a synth it’s midi sequencer
Andrew Crump well actually it’s both. It has general midi sounds

Très beau travail, on dirait l original, dommage qu il n y ait pas d autres vidéos...
there is no way you can play these tremolo notes on a QY70 like at 6:07. you still make a great finger model!
i hear no tremolo.. only an arpeggio
incredible work! can the qy70 import projects? because this would be so fun to see how the full song was tracked out... might have to dig up my ol' unit 😅
this is incredible. superb work
you are a master! nice tune
How long did it take you to put that all together? Great accomplishment in any case, but I'm curious.
Amazing work
nice one! subscribed!

Bestial!!!
Presque aucune difference avec l original...trop fort
How did you get it to sound so amazingly crispy?
Very cool, great work!
woah, that is really good.
Amazing work!
very impressive. this thing looks like an underatted piece of gear history
This is cool
very good work!
are you serious I need one these. this is so sick
Ben you can use a midi controller with the qy 70
Yes, I recorded the whole album with it, while lying in the hospital in 2003. This little thing is that good!
it is really great!
awsome job!
Robert Miles used a Korg 01/W and Roland JD800 for the real version. No way this came out of that little Yamaha QY. I'm not buying it.
and I've heard it was Yamaha QS 300 , which has the same sound engine
Robert used a kurzweil k 2000.........
ЗААААААЧЁЁЁЁЁТ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lovely!
Sounds really nice! Are these sounds all built in on the QY70?
YES, of course !
@@natto0021 Awesome!!! Sounds great-Love this tune and a great recreation on your part :)
How have you recorded the "variations of cut off" at 2:28? I also have a qy70 but it doesn't seem to let me record the various changing effects
30 years old groove box
There are all stock sounds with built in fx?
YES.
is anyone noticing that he keeps stopping and starting this seqs its not live it only appears to be I know I own that device
Good work ;-)
luganymusic Thanks! Domo arigato-gozaimasu!
Wow with no midi cables connected cool
Ich suche nach der Radioübertragung 90er Jahre Robert miles live München parkcafé.
The keys look WAAAY TO SMALL but they may have aiming for compact as well...

Great !!
Fucking awesome man
anyone else getting vnv nation/assemblage 23 vibes from this?
I can't believe it! I had yesterday the big luck to buy the QY 100 on the flee market for only 10€. The seller don't know what he give away. As i told him after the buy what it is, he was really angry. :-)
You are soooooooooooooooo crule :-)
Really? I have one too and I never used it again after trying to program 10%of a track.
I have a QY 10 and it's also pretty frustrating to program. Others MMV.
Thought it sounded exactly like the record until the drums/bass kicked in. Song isn't my cuppa but great job though.
ドラムの音色は難しいんすよ。この機種はトランスを作るのには全く向いていないと思う。
You could play me this or the original and i'd be happy either way
Novation Circuit eat your heart out lol
Is this better suited as a groovebox, or master sequencer for live rig?
Shut up - that's amazing
almost like a rm1x in mini format!
Ah, c'est un peu crazy comme piano pour jouer : )
Are all these sounds coming out of this machine?
Nathan Coleman yes
No
ofc yes, yamaha 16bit state of the art XG sound engine !!!
wow💜
