Owning a 3D printer myself this is very impressive and although the print is rough looking the fact it came off a printer made of legos is ridiculously cool. Kudos.
Ik right?
dont worry its better than a 95 dollar 3d printer
bricks that can make bricks. cue the robot apocalypse.

You know reprap, prusa mendel etc is designed to print itself. Good point though

when the metal ones come for your prescription meds, don't say i didn't warn you.

Oh duck I see Lego robots In my yard
Fourth Law of Robotics: A robot can't 3D print more robots.
That is the most impressive and unimpressive Benchy I have ever seen at the same time!
Thank you! I really appreciate such at point comment!
Lol true
I've seen worse come out of enders and prusas
damn this is the most acurate lego 3d printer ive seen!! keep it up.
thanks a lot!
how many have you ever seen? you word it like you have seen tons.
That is insane, even with the print results being a bit rough. I’ve been printing for a while and even own a small printing service on the side and I’ve tried making a printer from scratch and failed badly. I really respect this build since I’m sure it wasn’t easy. Printing a “benchy the tugboat” on a lego 3D printer is just insane and I definitely think this video should get more credit cuz this is crazy! Nice job
i love this video and the person who actually managed to make a 3d printer out of lego !!!
you did something that most of us still strugle with
.
thank you
thank you so much. I really appreciate that!
It's really cool... but you think most of us thinks of lego 3D printers? :D
@@TechBricks Biggest question is how did you actually get the arduino to work with the ev3 computer thats my biggest question because making a 3d printer on its own is pretty easy but the connection between the 2 seems hard
@@FirstnameLastName-mr8lk in that project Arduino circuit that controls only the temperature of print head is not connected to the ev3. However you can connect ev3 to Arduino simulating touch sensor or using I2C www.dexterindustries.com/howto/connecting-ev3-arduino/
@@lomgamer i do ! And i still work on mine )))
literally the best use of a Mindstorm ive seen
Even though the ending came out a bit rough, that infill looking perfect!👌
I was not expecting it to print a benchy that well damn. Great work!
Really impressed with the quality! Good job mate
Now make lego bricks with it
This video deserves more attention! All you need is a cooling fan on the nozzle and you could even get legit decent quality!
Rough surface but insane for being made out lego! Very well done dude
This is really impressive for a 3D printer made of LEGOS! Just add a Heated Printing Bed or a Part Cooling Fan and your print would probably come out better.
The final print is a bit rough, but the fact it was printed with a lego machine makes it quite impressive! Nice work and thanks for sharing!
Me: Mom can we get a 3D Printer?
Mom: We already have a 3D Printer at home.
3D Printer at home:
But in all seriousness this is so amazingly well done.
Good to c u back
Looks underextruded to me, but try gearing down the feeder some and then increasing the speed. Also if possible retraction would fix much of the stringing occurring.
Holy shit dude. This is incredible! Absolutely genius!
Very neat! I think a part cooling fan would have helped, but the whole concept of a LEGO 3D printer is really neat. I specifically searched for "lego 3d printer", saw this video first and it did not disappoint.
Great project! Liked and subscribed in just 10 seconds.
Marvellous, mate! I feel sorry for the glass haha
This is so incredibly impressive!
Thanks!
Well, it printed
WoW Amazing
Best and most inspiring lego video ever
Building my own Lego 3d printer, it as good as this one but it’s getting there, I’m also using a 3d pen which makes things much harder. Nice build, defiantly want to see more!
As Anakin Skywalker once said,
"This is where the fun begins."
who would wake up one day and think, "I should make a lego 3d printer!" This man.
Amazing dude!
nice filament color choice
Absolutely incredible!!!!!
Good job!
a simple nozle fan would make the print soooo much nicer
Beautiful
only costs you more than a normal 3d printer because its made of lego 😂
but you could then print all the lego blocks and suddenly it becomes cheaper!
cept for the EV3 block of c0urse :-o
Awesome !
Oh, very good job
Now you can make LEGO using LEGO! Mind blown
Amazing!
the chattering and roughness on the print is probably caused by the chain as it is slightly stretchy causing it to not be exact enough for the fine details but still though it is very impressive i mean there are real printers that are junk compared to this
Impressive
That is awesome
Could you upload a video, where you show the programming for the EV3? Because I build for a time a Mindstorms printer too, but I reassembled it, because I had no Idea how to send a G-Code inside the EV3-Brick.
Nice Video 👌
that's a good idea acctually. I'll think about it. For the code I've written gcode interpreter and I'm simply opening (previously saved on the ev3) txt file w g commands.
How bad is the z wobble and how do you resolve it with Lego. Also pla doesn't need adhesive
With one 30 or 40mm fanduct this prints will be more beautiful
Amazing 😱😱😱😱😱
Awesome
We arw waiting for new film!
TechBricks: The printer is mostly made from LEGO, but the bed is covered with a piece of glass
Benchy: Hold my beer
Time to pickup a textured PEI bedsheet for that bad boy!
Amazing how Lego has got so advanced now! All down to the invention of electronic Programming systems and advanced Lego parts. Shame that there was metal parts needed to make this a true 3D printer Model. But I sure this will not be so for long as the parts advance in Lego systems? I do think 3D printing if done really well has a real world place in making parts for the future! I see most if not all families owning a 3D printer in the near future as cost drop more! It be a nice back up for item making that be helpful if you can't get a small part you need.
Wow.....już wiem z czego jest drukarka 3D
w pracy mamy😅
Could use some tuning, but wow that was cool.
Szacun
Why don't you try replacing the chain with the rack and pinion gear system? That can help reduce backlash and improve the quality of the prints.
Peek lego, can make itself
Time to print ? (cool creation)
Ej to jest zarąbiste
Dont put tape on the glass
Lol con el final 🤣 buen video.
Świetne
Real question: can you print legos with this?
when you don't wanna learn cad. (just a joke I hope it didn't come off as rude! its very impressive!)
also your making tape alignment skills are amazing. I suck at alignment
edit: wait you wrote your own firmware?
i like this one, its so "Legoey"
It works, and the result is pretty good. OK.
Some ideas for improvement you might want to print a better fan shroud so you get better cooling and maybe tighten up the gears
Good Idea, but the gears must be tighten up first
Damn that's cool. A little rough, but that's certainly a benchy and from legos no less
Genialne
Dzięki!
Damit how you do to combine arduino and ev3 a supersuper work
You should print Legos with it!
Impossible that it would be accurate enough to be repeatable. The quality is horrendous
But can It run crysis?
i think the masking tape was unneccecary because you already had a glass bed...
nope, it didn't work without masking tape. Remember the bed isn't heated.
@@TechBricks that makes sense......
@@TechBricks thanks
Please share the plans!
Does the application on EV3 parse the gcode or it executes commands from Arduino?
EV3 parses the gcode. Arduino controlls temperature of the printing head. They're not connected.
Bardzo fajna drukarka. Trochę szkoda mi tego szkła :(
But can it print LEGO bricks?
What's the song btw? Awesome job
hey how do you program such a 3d printer? how to upload stl file. for this lego mindstorms driver?
Any chance we can get details on the code?
it'll take approximately
*THATS DEEP* a 3D printer made out of legos to print more legos...
*EDIT:* Yes i know kinda stole the comment from @KEvronista witch im giveing full credibility for the idea cuase sometimes theres a chance someone might have the same idea and thats ok right?
This probably costs more than a normal printer
That's right. But low cost wasn't the purpose of the project.
Great work! Can we share some of your videos on our Facebook page with credit to you? Please email us johnATbrickpodcast.com - thanks!
Of course feel free to share it with link to my CZcams channel 😀
what slicer was used?
What was the maximum time for the Ev3 brick switched On on power cable.
Approximately 5h
1ST RULE OF 3D PRINTING : don't make the printer out of plastic, this shit can catch fire.
2 rule of 3d printing never try to print lego pieces, some have tried and nobody heard of them ever since, the Danish hitman will find you if you try.
Tutorial pls?
Now print LEGO parts with the LEGO 3D Printer 😹
can u make instuctions?
what is the music you used called?
what editing program do you use for your intro?
Any repository for the instructions to build the project?
for commercial cooperation contact me via website techbricks.pl
@@TechBricks Commercial cooperation? You're an arse. RepRap is under GPL, you can't sell its modifications for money. You can build and sell 3D printers themselves, but not the information.
What material was it printing with? It looked bubbly and gooey coming out of the hotend.
It was PLA.
Hey, is there the design diagram i can download please?
Not bad, not bad
can you make more bricks with this 3d printer?
i will try :)
Can i buy a kit for it?
