  • Tuesday marks the end of one royal era in Japan and the beginning of another. Eighty-five-year-old Emperor Akihito is abdicating the throne to make way for his oldest son. The Emperor Heisei and the Empress are always "San", and they are always on the side of the Japanese heart as the Emperor and Empress.

The end of an Imperial era.
The Japanese year has changed from 31 Heisei to 1 Reiwa. "Reiwa" roughly translates as 'beautiful harmony.'

    In the history of Japan...
    天皇tenno≠Emperor
    天皇tenno≒Pope(神道Shinto)
    天皇は日本独自の宗教である【神道】に於ける祭司の長です
The japanese tenno is the chief priest of Shinto, a religion unique to Japan
