      @PATRIOT HAM I don't think that Akihito should have to apologize for something he had nothing to do with. If he chose to make an apology it would be nice, but it shouldn't be required. That would be like asking the people of Germany to apologize for what the Nazis did.

      I was reading about their relationship and it's known that Akihito's mother didn't like her daughter in law - she believed that Michiko wasn't good enough for her son. I think part of the dislike was due to the fact that Michiko was from a Roman Catholic family.

    • @TheAznative101
      @TheAznative101 Před 5 lety +4

      @ogidokki I am not going to rationalize the vaporization of tens of thousands of innocent people. But then again if not for the bomb(s) a plan was afoot to invade the Japanese mainland. Not just the military armed but each and every able bodied person. The entire population of Japan vs the 10's of thousands of troops. No real contest. So instead of the sacrifice that was planned the bomb was dropped. From the way it was worded it sounded like this emperor not Hirohito. What the Japanese did is no worse that we we did when we dropped the atomic bomb(s). It could have been seen as a war crime since they were non combatants. Try as we may we can't revise history. I have some affinity for the Japanese since I married one.

    • @TheAznative101
      @TheAznative101 Před 5 lety

      @ogidokki I don't have your previous comment. We can't revise history. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were 'military' targets. Ports and military manufacturing. So the dropping of the bomb was justified to our military. It was also a terror weapon in today's verbiage. It took the second bomb to show them it was futile to go on fighting. There is a video of the 'rehearsal' of the landing invasion of Japan. It saved both American and Japanese lives. History is what it is and we can't change it. We can disagree with it and hopefully learn from it.

It´s funny how suddenly the US turned "open minded" when they realized that the tyrant had a big stick which could be very detrimental to US interests...Depending on whether you are strong or weak, your interlocutor takes you seriously or despises you!

Japanese Emperors have rarely had "supreme power" or for that matter, any power, but were largely "used" as figureheads by the Shoguns, bureaucrats, military, etc. Their "authority" today is essentially the same as in the past. Others made the decisions, that were carried out in the name of the Emperor, even when the Emperor did not personally approve of the policy. 日本人として天皇が譲位されるというのは少し寂しい気持ちもあります。
    しかし、これから日本は新たな時代、令和の時代を迎えるのであります。
    令和の時代にも多くの困難がありましょう、
    そんな時にこそ国家一丸となって天皇陛下そして臣民全員の力でその困難を乗り越えていくのが令和の時代にも大切なことなのでしょう。

    • @hidewospecial
      @hidewospecial Před 2 měsíci

      国家一丸となって天皇陛下そして臣民全員の力で困難を乗り越えていくのは同意致しますが、上皇陛下は「譲位」ではございません。「退位」です。
      上皇陛下のお気持ちを忖度した政府が、天皇陛下を退位させる法律を制定したという物になります。そのため法律上、天皇陛下自らの意思で位を譲る「譲位」ではなく、自分の意思を含まない意味の「退位」という言葉になります。一度限りの特例法です。

      It's the Imperial Emblem/Seal. Represents the Imperial Family like the emblem on the British Passport represents the Royal Family.
      Back in the days Japan was officially an Empire, so the Navy was called Imperial Navy and that's why they used the Imperial Emblem/Seal. You can see these seals all other Japan in religious or historical sites.
