I’ve only been to NYC once but I barely remember it cuz it was like 12 years ago when I was only 8 and I don’t recall much but I do sorta remember the view as I landed and this kinda reminds me of that 😅. I can’t wait to go back one day lmao hopefully soon

You know, as much as I fly through New York, I really haven't done most of the tourist things to do there. Most of my time there has been spent at airport hotels awaiting a connection haha.

@@sla31 yea I mean that makes sense but one day you gotta explore the city it’s definitely amazing. It may not be best for living because of the dense population but it’s 100% worth visiting and checking out

Nice! I wonder what that noise is that kicks in around 12 mins in to the end? Thought it was the flaps lowering, but it seemed to carry on after they retracted and the spoilers came back down.

The noise always comes when flaps are extended to flaps 3 on the A220. It might come from the hydraulics but you don’t really hear it in the cabin.

You are hearing the hydraulic Power Transfer Unit (PTU). It takes hydraulic fluid pressure from the #1 system to turn a hydraulic motor which is connected mechanically by a short shaft to a hydraulic pump that provides a secondary source of hydraulic pressure for the #2 system.

I'd answer your question, but that's already been taken care of, so I'll just say thanks for watching instead!

Hey Skylite. Thanks so much for another magnificent video! Brought back a lot of memories. I grew up in Brooklyn in the 50s-71, then off to the first armpit of NY State, Fredonia (halfway between Erie, PA and the other armpit, Buffalo) for college then teaching until 1978. When we were young kids, my parents would often take us on car rides that included the Belt Pkwy, and on those very special occassions, JFK would be landing via the Canarsie approach (parallel to, then RIGHT OVER the Belt Pkwy, huge last minute right turn at 800 feet over the hotel to lineup with 13L) . I felt I could reach up and touch the airplanes. It was actually those magic moments in the backseat watching the jets flying so close that kindled my love and geekiness for jet aircraft. Thanks for the memories my friend. Got your second rapid shot email and I'll be replying soon. Stay safe. Be healthly.

These NYC vids are always bittersweet. Growing up in the area during the 70s to the early 90s wasn't always fun, and I couldn't wait to leave for something better. 30 years later, I get back there once a year or so, but there is no sadness when I step on a plane flying out of there.

Wow. Great view of the Tappan Zee Bridge (I-87 and I-287). This is where the Hudson River goes oxbow. Very good view of Orchard Beach and Great Neck. Very good views of Fire Island and Coney Island. Seeing this brings back many memories for me of my teen years living in NY in the 1970s.
Although legally, Long Island is not recognized as an island, geographically and physically, it most cert5aionly is one, and it really is the longest island in the Continental US - by a wide margin.

I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend. And yes, as @get2dachoppa249 mentioned, the groaning is part of the hydraulic system working.
