A glimpse into the training, commitment, and service the men and women of the Pleasant Grove Fire Department.
Pleasant Grove Fire Department. Tiller. Tiller truck. Big firetruck. Long firetruck. Hook and ladder. Utah fire truck. World's coolest fire trucks. Utah fire department.
common names for the PGFD Ladder Truck are: fire truck trailer, hook and ladder fire truck, ladder truck, hook and ladder fire truck, driving the tiller, fire truck tiller, fire trucks, hook and ladder truck, ladder fire truck, tiller fire truck, fire truck, fire truck ladder, and Truck 71
The opening statement of the narrator demonstrates what many growing fire departments must contend with - educating an uneducated public regarding equipment purchases. "Why do we need such a big truck?" I'm sure is the number one question asked regarding this apparatus. Excellent video showing the versatility of this truck; your community will be well served.
I know I'm 7 years late for saying this but thank you for your comment.

I am curious about the decision to go with tandem axle instead of single. I collect fire trucks and own 2 tillers of my own, they are both single axle, so I can't help but wonder
@@mrwonderful2142 that's a great question. that the time we ordered the tiller. the manufacture recommended a tandem axle due to the tiller able to pump off of it
I had the pleasure of driving tiller years ago, best seat in the house! A tiller truck is a thing of beauty, huge fire apparatus that can get on scene like nothing else.
Best seat for sure! Parking it is a dream
I'll give you Americans this. Your fire trucks are in a league of their own. And they look awesome too
Nailed it! 100% agreed. Thanks for watching!
Very beautiful, versatile and useful. Wish my local fire department had one.
A tiller truck is extremely useful, and it is the coolest style of fire truck in my view, that I have ever seen!
I'm six years late saying this but yes it's extremely useful and hands down the coolest style of any and all fire trucks. Thanks for the comment TheCrewChief
4 stories is more then 30ft. And ladder trucks serve multiple functions and it is very rare that you can pull right up next to the building requiring a longer ladder or for ladder pipe applications that's why ladders are longer then 30ft. I think this truck is an awesome setup
Your right on every point. Thank you for the support and your comment. This truck is an awesome setup!
Great looking tiller truck like the style your service and time and efforts are deeply appreciated thanks to everyone who responds keep them safe out there job well done you should be proud love respect and appreciate you guys thanks good catch as usual ! Joe

Thanks for the support Joe
Here is a natural adaptation of the average Ladder truck in its natural environment, it has naturally adapted to its predator the Roundabout
I've read your comment only a few hundred times. It still brings a smile to my face. thank you
Shes a beauty, take care out there you guys! 👍🏻👩🏼🚒🚒
Thanks you to
alwayz was in awe of tiller truck sinc a kid still am
Yeah buddy! you and every firefighter is still in complete awe over the tiller
it looks like its drifting
This truck responded to my dads 911 call. PG Utah
Every fire department should have one.
No....
This is a tiny expenditure as opposed to the federal government subsidies militarizing our police forces. It is a much more useful spend to have these trucks at every fire station to save lives giving our true heroes the best equipment for the job in any situation.
+S P2000 Not many can afford, 3 towns that are near me don't have a ladder truck and they have big buildings
not every fire company bro because South mountain brush fire and small building except for the collage
there are three 105' Tower Ladders at the CFD station in my hometown, and I'm happy that all of them are plain normal rearmount Tower Ladders, no midmount Tower Ladders, no Tillers, ...
Thank you first responders
thanks for the support
awesome truck
3 German Cars in one 💪😍
Absolutely beautiful Pierce 100-footer! Built in Wisconsin, my home state!
+Tachi Tekmo Ever find it funny how Pierce, Seagrave, American LaFrance (RIP, Best looking custom trucks ever made....) Marion, Welch, Custom Fabrication, Custom Fire, HMA, and U.S. Tanker are all made in Wisconsin?
Tachi Tekmo looks like an Pierce enforcer
@@Gamerboy-gy1rl It is a Velocity.

That's some fine piece of engineering
couldn't agree more
My favorite piece of apparatus.
Same here

That year that was bought was the year that i was born well perfect timing
Good year
VERY NICE TRUCK!!
Borat "Its a very nice!"
Very nice Truck!
That’s the correct answer! Thanks for commenting but really thanks for watching
That is an absolutely beautiful apparatus . . .
Very well done video! It is an awesome idea to be able to take a video like this to a council presentation for upcoming purchases... and a great PR video to go on the FD website for taxpayers interest. Great Job!
Thank you!
Does anyone realize how good at drifts this thing would be
So good at drifts. If they used it in Tokyo Drift. The movie would be called Tiller Tokyo Drift
I like this truck!
You and me both!
Beautiful Truck...
Uyujj
So that’s how they make it “rain” in movies
💵💵💵
Very nice professional video! It is a great way to inform the public of the reasons for the purchases and the capabilities of the fire department and expensive apparatus.
I appreciate your comment
What a beautiful rig. Great video,Thanks
Feels good to have you in our corner
Awesome!
Compared to USA fire trucks the ladders on trucks in the UK are like step ladders lol
Beautiful rig.

So Cool.
Such a nice truck :)
in the words of Borat "its a very nice!"
Great video! Can't wait for my city to get some!
thanks for the comment
I thought the trailer was slipping and sliding at first but no! theres a guy steering it at the back, man that actually looks pretty fun steering the trailer.
its the best seat
Damn every fire dept needs one of those
I couldn’t agree more
cool !
COOL TRUCK
0:39 so sick!
it really is
Cool Truck!!!
Please excuse me for saying this but that is one fucking bad ass Fire Engine
I couldn't say it any better
The most important thing: does it have one of those long wailing old style sirens as it should? You know the ones with constant high pitch sound? Those are the best! Looks awesome in any case!
Yes it does. It’s amazing!
anything you need you got it
That’s right the tiller is like a tool box that has wheels
your truck is good and efficient
I would agree
Aerial Devices consist of turn table ladders, ladder platforms, telescopic platforms (Baker Aerialscopes...think FDNY), Platform Aerial (typically articulated like a Snorkel, but no ladder rungs). Telescopic water towers are not meant to climb...just elevate the master stream. Unless you are talking about a TeleSquirt which was an elevated boom master stream with ladder rungs attached to it. Usually limited to 60' max.
thats cool
That thing is colossal for a 100ft. ladder.
Look at this german vehicle: It's a 223ft www.magirusgroup.com/de/fileadmin/ivecomagirus/images/content/Interschutz_2015/M68L_3044x1180px.jpg
Yeah, I´m a german firefighter and I can´t imagine how huge these american vehicles are.
My home town had to buy a ladder truck because the University has ONE BUILDING that requires it's use in an emergency. BUT the University DOES NOT PAY TAXES, and didn't donate one red fucking dime to it's purchase. it is never used and just sits there in the firehouse collecting dust because it's a very sore point when ever it is seen by the locals... but even one building that requires a ladder truck makes its purchase necessary but it would have been nice if the rich University would have donate some moola for it...
I’m sorry to hear that. I wish I could share some light on it but I don’t know the situation. We have more buildings I care to count that require a ladder truck.
В России о такой лесенко можно только мечтать....
01Pinger правда.
It takes team work
Team work makes the dream work……. Or something like that
where I live we just got one witch is replacing our 1995 E-one tiller.
That would make an awesome work truck.
yes it does
well done
Thank you
A quint isn't just a ladder truck with a pump. It has 5 things aboard. Guess what those are. A quint without an aerial ladder device is not called "just a engine". It's called a QUAD. They we're once common but rare today. Because a QUAD has a full compliment of ground ladders, pump, water, hose. Your reference to an "engine" is wrong as well. Because an engine is just for pumping...historically. What you meant to say was Triple Combination Pumper. That's what most people call an "engine" these days. And this particular device is not accurately described as "tillered". This truck is best described as a TDQL...Tractor Drawn Quint Ladder, a very rare truck. In the old days many straight trucks with aerial ladders had rear wheel steering via a second driver and a tillered steering wheel. But they were not tractor drawn.
NeilLB7 around here also units which have a pump, hoses, full set of hydraulic rescue tools and smaller equipment as well as ground ladders on board are still called just Engines, new ones might be called Rescue Engines
I've seen Tiller Trucks before: basically a Ladder Semi Truck with 6 Wheels: 4 on the Tractor and 2 on the Trailer, the Trailer Wheels are Steerable via a Cab on the Back of the Trailer, for Extra Maneuverability, like in Roundabouts in this Community, or Tight Corners in New York.
But I have never seen a Tiller Tractor fitted with 4 Driving Wheels, it actually looks Much Cooler than other Tillers I've seen.
good eye mate
Anyone else notice the blood on the fire fighters turn out coat at 2:49???
Damn
I haven't seen a tiller truck in years . I know my town they have them in reserve though
They’re a great piece of equipment that’s for sure
I just came across this video even though its been posted for awhile but I'll throw in my two cents worth.
First, tractor drawn aerials have been around for well over 100 years. There is nothing new or ground breaking here.
Second, not all fire depts. here in the USA have the ability to have more than one truck to bring the equipment that doesn't fit on the first one. What happens when the 2nd truck never arrives? Also many FD's do more than just firefighting so the truck may also be required to carry vehicle rescue tools, technical rescue equipment, haz mat, it all depends upon the FD's responsibilities.
Third, the length of the ladder is absolutely necessary. Building construction trends are allowing for larger homes with much larger roof sizes, not to mention the setbacks from the street.
Lastly, I don't know where the 3 million dollar figure came from but that is absurd. Tractor drawn aerials are actually much cheaper than some other styles such as a rear or mid mount platform. A new TDA can be purchased in the 6-7 hundred thousand range. Only a straight frame aerial is cheaper. A well equipped TDA quint can push a million but nowhere near 3 million! A bright new truck that is different then anything before it doesn't mean it is more expensive.
A tillered quint like this particular vehicle is no 600-700 thousand dollar deal.
I liked your two cents. Thanks for the comment

😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Bet you can do some wicked fish tailing in that thing
Only the best
this truck is good becausethe more equipment it can carry
nailed it
Old school, in Holland we use electric/hydraulic steering axles, so you never need an truck trailer, you just built an 4 axle truck.
Does this four axle truck have 500ft or more cubic feet of storage and carry up to 135' of ground ladders? Similar technology exist in the U.S. look up Pierce All Steer.
The work each country requires of their ladder companies is different and in the US more equipment needs to be carried onto the scene to support that work. Except for older sections of some cities the streets generally are wide enough to allow the use of vehicles without all-wheel steering. For the older sections of cities in the US a Tiller Truck is ideal (being assigned to one was the most fun I'd ever had with my clothes on). I sometimes wonder if I'd have worked in the Brandweer had my parents stayed in Arnhem.
KMA558
nope, the 4 axle aerial ladder truck carry neither ground ladders nor much equipment, but usually a 170 ft ladder or boom; but even some of the short 100 ft ladder trucks have all-wheel steering
Nol Go with the British trucks then rather than something this size. we carry all our kit on the one truck which is half the size of this. We still fit it all on and actually carry more.
sounds cool.............not really
Wow look at that, built in morgue.
I live in utah!
Utah is rad!
my county has 20 of these ordered from ferrara and seagrave delivered today through my neighborhood to get to the required stations
That's a Nice Truck. That's something we need in Atlanta, we have these horrible a** Trucks . Lmao
Tiller quint
In Tennessee the only the place I know of that has one of these 100` ladder trucks is Memphis but I could be wrong.
Nashville also uses TDA's and Chattanooga still uses one as their Ladder 5. I don't know about anyone else but I'm sure there are others.
that's sad they should get some. I wish I knew the answer for you. Thanks for the comment

"Unique Design" COUGH COUGH TILLER TRUCK!
A tillered quint is a good idea for some departments. Not everyone can function the same and if this is a first out and manning is an issue and as they say they are operating in high density areas, this rig may very well be what they need. All this critical shit on here by people who are not even close to this town is bunk. The tillered quint concept has been chosen long already for the Los Angles County Fire Dept.. LACo FD has about 180 stations and EVERY ladder is a tillered quint. And I can surely understand the thought process there on any number of levels.
Apparently everyone becomes a firefighter in the comments.
I love all the know-it-all comments. ROFLMBO
Do they make great private trucks as a to full out single unit my family is starting a village in texas and i volenteered as s FF as well as industry crp as i was looking around youtube for ideas on 1 trucks does most duties deal
*DEJA VU*
Australian fire trucks just spray water up in the air and wait for it to come down like an artillery piece
interesting but i think the German DLK 23/12 is better :P
no
some unfathomably moist, saucy, creamy, crispy, succulent flakes of perfectly aged tortilla chips Yes...

for both sides, pro and contra the American / German representative, it would actually be helpful to bring up some arguments instead of just "yes" and "no"
EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos Good idea xD
it can help turning
yep it turns the rear
Excellent video but if it is really intended for the public, I think you should have explained what is ISO and how does that impact fire insurance rates. I know of a town which lost several budget battles with town council, but when the only ladder went out of service, decertified, the fire insurance increase fired up business owners to force council to repair or replace it. Somehow that was lost in the budget debates.
I appreciate your words. You bring up a lot of good points. I've been thinking of making a follow up video just on answering the questions that have come from the comments. Thank you
Does it carry one of those pool tanks that can be filled in remote locations where water is scarce?
While I can't say for certain, my guess is not. Most trucks like this don't have any water onboard and some don't even have pumps, relying on a separate pumper hooked to it to flow the water.
Jesse Welch
interesting. thanks for the update.
ep I'm buying a fire truck what model is this ?
What was behind the decision to go with tandem axle instead of single? JW
Great question. Simply put at the time they didn’t offer a tiller with a water tank and pump on a single axle.
Guess I didn't notice it has waterworks. Was too busy looking at her ass 🤣
Mine are both dry trucks
Just watched the video again, not sure how I missed that 🤣
I want to see this vs a British double mini roundabout
I like it. I’ll see what I can come up with
I have one question is trailer detachable from truck
Technically yes it can but it would only be done for maintenance, the trailer has no jacks and a lot of the air lines and electrical lines are not easy to undo.
Meanwhile in Europe.
Triple High Tec Mercedes Ladders.
Where is Pleasant Grove located? The name alone sounds like its near Mayberry. :)
+Tully3674 I believe they might be in Utah like they mention in the video.
Utah
What is a side outreach for this ladder ?
it's a 100' ladder
How come Denver Colorado dont have fire trucks like that???
Thats a good question. I wish I knew but I don't feel its my place to answer that for Denver. I know they would answer your question if you ask them.
I want one. Please.
roadhouse
that's Plesent Grove CA right?
Their is a Pleasant Grove in CA but this one is in Utah
