- Chris Blackwell and Bunny Wailer spar over the abuse of rights by Island Universal against his Blackheartman, Protest & Bunny Wailers Sings The Wailers albums and Blackwell responding that it is Universal that is abusing not only Bunny Wailer but all Reggae artists and that he advises them to form a coalition and sue Universal as he is doing for the Marley Estate. This is the same person who was responsible for and sold the abuse to Universal in the first place and was the manager for the Marley Estate while he was the head of Island and did all the deals that he now wants to sue Universal on their behalf for. Two heads with two tongues to match are worse than one!!!!

I've watched this in its entirety & for some reason they have cut this video to 1.51.. The Blackheart L.p is one of the greatest ever reggae L.p's to be made & in this year 2018 it is still being sold in its hundreds but yet Bunny has never got the royalties from this L.p.. If I remember right Bunny said in this meeting he was going to sue Island records for a 100M which Mr Whitewell smirked at but like many black reggae artist who are now looking for their royalties have found out the company owners of that time have now sold the company & royalties are now passed on to the new company owners who say it's not their problem as the L.p or 45 was not their production.. We must remember Chris Whitewell part owned Trojan Records which was a part of Duke Reaid's Treasure Isle Records which Whitewell bought lock stock a barrel including the sound system which went on to sell many a reggae record in England the rest of Europe & the America's & Mr Whitewell made a lot of money from it all to the point where he has the word Lord before his name.. Someone somewhere is claiming the unpaid royalties for many a reggae artiste & songs I think it's about time it went to the right people..

Trojan was not a part of Treasure Isle and Chris never bought Treasure Isle or his sound system. When Duke died everything went to Sonia Pottinger.

I was present at this interview. It is at the Rototom Sunsplash, Osoppo Udine, in 2009. At some point after this a young lady from the audience gets up, grabs Bunny Wailer microphone and tells them to please let aside money and contractual disputes for now, and discuss about the history of the Wailers, their message, etc
Yeah, she was strong enough to grab bunny’s mic, but too weak to hear the real.

Artists being ripped off has been a problem in the music business since day one . Many problems have arisen through the signing of dodgy contracts with onerous clauses .Some form of regulation should have been put in place to protect the rights of artists like Bunny Wailer from ruthless business practice .

This is exactly what Peter Tosh recognize and why he ventured out on his own. Blackwell took advantage of the Wailers including Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer from a business stand point. He is low down - you can get what's yours. If you can locate a copy of your music contract Bunny - I can point you in the right direction how to get your money. First get a copy of your music contract. Second file a subpeona requesting exclusive rights and who have master copy or rights to your music.
Twaddle. Without Coxsone Dodd, Duke Reid, Bunny Lee and all the other great producers we would not have the music we have today. In every way Chris Blackwell was much fairer than the Jamaican producers - he paid his artists and gave them a fair deal

Third file a subpeona requesting he list the financial assets of the time of sale. You must have a lawyer and file in the UK where his current residence or whatever. Nielson will provide data how many time your music was played in the US. You might have to file and pay to get this information. Other countries have the information available for a fee. This will give you a ball park figure of how much royalties you are entiled too. Be sure your address is up to date where your royalties payment go

& one thing we must remember is Peter Tosh R.I.P successfully got royalties from Chris Whitewell & Island records where his first payment was 250k he was brutally murdered in his home 3 months after..
I believe Peter won the lawsuit against EMI the year he was shot. He never sued Island Records.
