It's when you damage the nerves in your neck that you can't move. It's possible to crack the bones in your neck but not damage any nerves. Also if you land on your feet the shock can go up your spine and course damage

@howfast388 i wont ride with it, if you do some research you will find that it causes injuries due to pressure on the spinal cord, even the new ones, plus the guy that made it knew it wasnt good enough, he signed the worker that made it off
rear spring was fully compressed when I came off that bump. When it got to the end of it's travel it came up fast and pitched him. I wonder why it was compressed? The way he hit the bump or an adjustment issue?
Oh calm down about the neck brace people. Some people can't ride with a restricted neck that comes with having a neck brace. So, it's either they ride with one and not have fun because it's annoying them. Or ride without it and be more comfortable and overall safer on the bike.
So what happened with McGrath's bike? It looks to me like it lost power on that last jump or something--some sort of hestation. Does anyone know for sure? I would really like to know if it was a mechanical issue and if so, what exactly happened? 'Cuz this kind of stuff is never supposed to happen at the factory level. You HAVE to be able to trust your machine will work when you need it to.

neckbraces didnt exist then, this was 2006. leatt braces have never been proven to prevent neck injuries, and some of the top guys (dungey and grant) have thrown theirs away.
he wasnt wearing a neckbrace. people rode and raced for many many years without breaking their necks. only you young folk think those braces are usefull
chest protectors and neck braces should be mandatory for professional mx and sx riders. These guys wear just those thin ass shirts with their whole body exposed for 220lb machienes to smash into them. And I dont want to hear its uncomfortable..load of crap..I put my Leatt brace on and it took me all but one lap to not even notice it anymore..

Look closer, he was doing it out of safety. The bike was still under power as he was going for the kill switch. It could have swerved around still under power and clipped Jeremy.

All you idiots says it's the same as Ken's crash it's not, he cross rutted and got ejected from the bike. McGrath nose dived because of the compression of the rear shock in take off and he choose to jump off, kenny didn't have a choice as soon as he took off the jump it bucked him

Regardless I still respect the dude for what he has done in MX history. When I used to ride competitively, I could only dream of his achievements.

The Australian Opencross has ramps, but not this type, its a bit smaller, placed at the finish line and is given around with big sponges...
He looked like he was getting very front end low in all of those rhythms actually.

As you can see, when his bikes hits the ground, its throttle sticks open, thats why theres flames and smoke coming out his muffler!
