I bought the same camera few years ago but never used it because of not understanding how to use it I am retired now and took it out to use it but it became more complicated now than before and thought of selling it My son told me to have a look in youtube and found your video, I found it very interesting and useful and well presented. Thank you so much.
I just bought this camera yesterday. When I first looked at it at home, I was pretty overwhelmed but after viewing your video, I think I can get the hang of this camera quickly. Thanks!
I must say that this video is AMAZINGLY helpful for someone who just purchased a Canon Rebel t2i. Thanks so much for making this. Helped me very very much.
With such a title, I'm surprised that you got so many views. However, when I see the sheer knowledge you have with that camera and the skill you have at teaching it, I wasn't surprised anymore.
Thanks, I never thought of using the AUTO setting as a meter. I am doing a photo shoot in a month for a friend and I now have a way to check out my settings.
i just recently got this camera as a gift since I like taking alot of pics of friends and family members....But I am clueless in how this camera works or what its capable of. Your video helped me out a lot. Especially what the numbers in the screen mean. Subscribed :)
Thanks for this...great for beginners! Just got this camera from my husband for my bday and had no clue how to use it, lol. I knew i would be able to come across just the right video to teach a beginner how to use this camera, thx again, just what i was looking for!
Av- is aperture priority- you set the apeture, and the shutter will be set accordingly automatically. Tv- is the opposite. Shutter speed priority. you control the shutter speed and the aperture size changes automatically to create the proper exposure. I'm not trying to be a "know-it-all", at all!!! idk much!! just wanted to make it clear. Ty for the info :) beautiful lens as well! create on!! ~peace*
This was extremely helpful, David. Thank you very much. You were very clear and thorough with what you covered. Looking forward to seeing the next video on the T2i from you.
thank you for these videos! i've been searching for something like this and am so grateful to have found it. i think my favorite part is that they're videos of the camera and where you're pressing buttons and such. so helpful, thanks again!
got one last month and i am simply adoring it...I will admit althought its fantastic,im having trouble pulling some amazing shots due to in expeience. This video is so so helpfull.thanks so much from ireland...
Hello David I discovered you here searching for someone who can explain calming on how to use this camera still in 2three My son with Down Syndrome was given this camera years ago and he wanted to take photos but I have no idea how to use it to teach him. Yes this camera is about 10 yrs old or so but no since in getting a newer one if we cannot work this. Thank you for time in teaching just the basics. 2three. Since he’s a beginner at modeling I’d like to use this camera myself to take his photos to save funds but I need help on just basics to do so. Again Thx
awesome 3 videos. I just got my t2i yesterday, and after watching the 3 vids, I went back to take some photos today, and there is a huge difference since now that I know what the controls do, lol. thanks
Thank you so much for getting back to me, I have a EFS 55-250 f/4-5.6 is, lens with image stabilizer, Is this ok to use, cause thats all I have. I will be 80 yards from the stage, hope this works and turns out ok. I will let you know, Thanks again for the advice!!
You can put it in M mode keep you iso as low as possible set your aperture to what is needed to get the lighting right then lower shutter under 50 and play around with it. Make sure you are holding the camera as steady as you can when shooting with a low shutter. I hope that help
@MediaUnlocked The difference between a crop sensor and full sensor is an increased field of view. There is a magnification factor with crop sensors that full frame sensors don't have. The rebel T2i is a crop sensor with a 1.6x magnification factor. This magnification factor is the equivalent to zooming in 1.6x on a full frame sensor. Another difference between a full frame sensor and crop sensor is that a full frame sensor gives your photos shallower depth of field.
Question loved the video I owe a T2i and it was great to know alot more of my camera, but the CA setting on the dial you skipped that part? I would like to know more about it..
You can put lens on the M mode witch is manual mode but you will have to focus the shot your self. You need just a little bit of light to take a picture if it is pitch dark you will have trouble taking pictures bring your iso up and apature the lowest it can go
Thanks, this was EXTREMELY helpful. If I could make 1 small suggestion for future videos ... when you switch topics, can you put a title screen? I had to back track a few times to review what you were saying and it would be helpful to find the start of each section.
Hello and thank you so much for the video,I couldn’t activate slow motion video effect,I record on different modes but when I come to see what I recorded, the video Is normal speed.please advice .thank you again
Lol, AV mode is Aperture Priority , you will have the control of your F/stop or Aperture and the camera will adjust the Shutter speed and the ISO for you to get a correct exposure. This is good if you want to focus on one particular subject of an image. eg, Portrait photography, etc etc.
This video was very straight to the point & helpful!!! I just bought the t2i and im trying to learn how to use all the features.. Im a slr newbie and this video really helped to break everything down..thanks :) Going to watch the rest of your series!
Hi! Great video! Helped me a lot! Just a little question. Please tell me the difference between the Av setting and Tv setting... it sounded like they were the same in the video.
@TheVATraveler If your shutter speed goes over 200 to 250 it will start to give you black lines it has to do with the speed of the flash not being as fast as the speed of the camera
Thank you!! I am using my Dad's now, as I get used to it (aka, see if I'm ay good ;) ). I am curious about how "bad" the video capabilities are for current use. For example making youtube videos. What was used top record this video?.. a camcorder? a DSLR?.. Have a great day!
TV is Shutter Speed Priority, you will have the control of your Shutter speed and the camera will adjust the ISO and the Aperture, for you. This is good if you want to take a picture that take Shutter speed as priority , like sport games, water fall, etc etc. Hope this helps..
the Canon rebel series has an aps sensor its sensor is smaller then a full frame camera The bigger the sensor like a full frame camera can take larger photos so there photos are big and the pictures taken with the Canon rebel cameras have smaller pictures its like rebels series cameras photos are cropped compared to like a 5D Mark II
Everyone I spoke to told me Class 10 cards are recommended for video shooting. Definately check the data transfer or writing speeds, some cards can write the video faster than others.
I've been using my t2i in a studio on manual...setting the ISO to 100 or 200, aperture and shutter speed...during shoots I've found the setting seem to change without me doing anything. It became most noticeable when the shutter speed went to 1/320 and half the frame was black being out of sync with the strobe. I'm using the 'Q' button to change settings...My question is am I doing something wrong or is the camera broken?
good info but I cant tell which buttons you right finger is doing to change the modes perhaps you could let us know what and where you are pressing to change the modes with you right hand
Thanks a lot! I bought this 2 years ago and NEVER used, so sad :( Sorry, I will be messaging you for more tips but thanks a lot, I get to know y camera better now instead of being scared of it. I am a little technically challenged :(
@quiles26 If you bought the camera to lean how to be come more professional you should look at other lens. If you bought it just to have fun then they will be fine.
Anyone here in 2019 who still uses this camera? Cause I still use it😅

Just bought this camera yesterday. First DSLR camera. Your video made this camera seem not as complicated as I thought it would be. Appreciate it!
A good friend of mine gave me his older canon. So here I am learning how to use it. Starting small b4 I go big!
Thanks, I never thought of using the AUTO setting as a meter. I am doing a photo shoot in a month for a friend and I now have a way to check out my settings.

if you put your camera in the M mode and go through the settings there is option to change the color of your menus

@Nicholas Leung Yes. It's on the side.

@Groverfargo You will all ways have to manually focus to keep the picture in focus
TV is Shutter Speed Priority, you will have the control of your Shutter speed and the camera will adjust the ISO and the Aperture, for you. This is good if you want to take a picture that take Shutter speed as priority , like sport games, water fall, etc etc.

you will need a low apature lens like a 70-200 2.8 plus iso 800 shutter 50 to 100 and apature the lowest it will go. I what I would try
