      I would agree with you, but in order to get to fortissax you need to beat the gargoyles. (an incredibly tough fight in comparison) or at least in my experience, I find them to be one of the hardest fights in the game.

    If you go to Deeproot early at around level 70 with a +6-8 weapon Fortissax is a fantastic fight. And once you’ve fought Fortissax a lot the tracking lighting isn’t annoying

    • @eser8167
      @eser8167 Před rokem

      Plus I think they wanted you to fight him targeting the head with timing and jump attacks. He doesn't put the tracking lightning on you if you aren't going under his body, and he lowers his head often. I don't blame people for not realising this though, I only came to this conclusion after finding out about this method in a lv1 run.

    • @anonymous01201
      @anonymous01201 Před rokem

      @@eser8167 I think his head is like a weak point they want you to try to hit when you can. It’s in melee range a lot less often then say Midir. I like to fight him moving switching from his head to body, when he does the roar with the scripted lighting strikes I circle around him and hit all his limbs timed so that I can run to escape the tracking lighting while moving between them. I have a video on my account of my first fight with him from around a year ago that I just uploaded recently so if you want to see what I mean it’s there. Fortissax is really a blast, you just need to learn how to fight him.

  • @namirakira7138
    @namirakira7138 Před rokem +4

    For video ideas, how about top bosses in an artistic sense? Like the artistic/ stylistic merits of a boss from its place in the story, buildup, arena, design, and music. If you don’t know what I mean, for example if I made that list I would include Demon of Hatred.
    Demon of Hatred is amazing, from the small buildup with the claws and rapid descent into misery for the sculptor during the fight. His face is constantly contorted in fear, misery, anger, or perhaps hatred, we can’t know for sure. When you use the Malcontent whistle, he tries to hold in his tears and cries on the third whistle. And the design for the Demon is one of the most unique demon/oni designs I’ve ever seen. His kabuki poses (called mie which indicates when a character has reached a peak in emotions) after every attack, give so much stylistic flare to this demon. His design and poses makes the fight look like the traditional ukiyo-e with demons and yokai have come to life. His music is also incredibly powerful and beautifully composed too. The dissonant string instrumentation creates a sense of horror for the first phase, and then the second phase kicks in with that beautiful but still dissonant flourish of flutes. It gives off imagery of pain and suffering, as if the music is crying in pain, reflecting Sculptor’s desire for Sekiro to kill him. It’s one of the best fromsoft osts in my opinion.

    I agree with almost all of your picks here. My main disagreements would be for Dragon God and Pinwheel.
    Dragon God: I think having this boss as a puzzle fight makes perfect sense. Dragon God had been built up to be this crazy powerful 'deity' of sorts. The intro cutscene in the remake would be my prime example. With their limited technology, a normal fight would have sucked and felt anticlimatic imo. It would be like Ceaseless Discharge. Dodge the same slam, smack his arm, repeat. I enjoy the uniqueness of this puzzle fight. That being said, its poorly balanced and I think the second phase doesn't seem right.
    I would put Old Monk in that spot. The NPC version of this fight is an actual joke. He has like two moves and you just wail on him until he's dead. Such a cool buildup for a boss, in an incredible area, and then we get that letdown.
    Pinwheel: I kinda like that he's a joke boss. The Catacombs can be an incredibly frustrating area. Imagine if Pinwheel was a hard boas and you had to run through those bonewheels every time to get back to him. It would become incredibly frustrating.
    Id actually go with Nito for the most disappointing boss in the series. He was so close to being a great fight that would be somewhat rewarding for going through the worst area in the game. He has a cool moveset, but you barely see it. His melee swings never hit you if you stand up close to him, which is laughable. So they shoved in mobs to increase his difficulty, and they gave him this massive AOE in a pretty tiny boss room. He was so close to being an amazing DS1 boss. Just delete the adds, give his melee attacks axtual hitboxes in front of him so you actually have to dodge him and boom, fun boss with an incredible design and lore to match.

      Yeah, the Deeproot Depths are kind of oddly tuned level-wise. They're balanced as a mid-game area when they're so out of the way that you usually get there in the late game. It also doesn't help that the twin gargoyle bosses you need to beat to get in there can be a massive wall to entry.

    I’m very surprised Laurence, Micolash, or Queen Yharnam isn’t here over Wet Nurse.
    Laurence is hyped up a lot being the root cause of the spread of beats and founder of the healing church. His fights just a flaming cleric beast 1-1 in appearance, sound, and mostly moveset. With the addition of an annoying phase 2 huge letdown.
    Micolash is very strange we aren’t made aware of his existence *at all* until his fight. He’s to blame for the events of the red moon and maddened world state. He randomly turns up and is dealt with in a terrible fight.
    Queen Yharnam is often in the background, leader of the Pthumerians, and force yourself through the chalice dungeons. Your reward is literally nothing and the fight itself isn’t much. Mergo is at least a fun fight with an interesting design.

      I would add Moon Presence too

  • @mt2r-music
    @mt2r-music Před rokem +1

    Im surprised this isn’t in the list: Moon Presence. The most important character in Bloodborne having less HP than a regular enemy while performing an attack which basically gives you free damage on the boss because it just stand still for no reason. All of this while having a generic and boring moveset like a tutorial boss. How to make it better? 1. Make it that the boss doesn’t stay still after making you lose all your health. That’s a real threat. 2. More HP. 3. Incorporate the blood moon into the fight in the form of special and unique attacks. There is no connection between the moon and the great one when it comes to actual gameplay. The fight feels like it should take place right after Gherman without any checkpoints in between them with how easy and simple it is. For me it’s a clear number 1.
    Also an honorable mention would be Yhorm. I like the fight itself but you can’t feel anything else but disappointment after witnessing the opening cutscene. Most people think of Yhorm as a huge Titan like in that one meme artwork but in the end he’s like 5m tall and that’s it. This together with him being a in comparison to other bosses really easy gimmick fight doesn’t make the situation any better. I truly think without that banger intro the boss would be received way better. But in the end it’s just wrong expectations instead of boring gameplay so I still think he’s fine.

    • @mt2r-music
      @mt2r-music Před rokem +1

Elden stars is particularly bad because it taints the whole fight for me because I'm dreading when he does that attack the whole fight instead of soaking in the spectacle. And the solution for these problems was so easy. I know this may sound a little controversial but I feel that Mohg could’ve been done a little bit better as except for nihil and his wings his fight isn’t really too different from his sewer appearance. Making him feel a little like blood Morgott

      I sincerely believe that most of the reused bosses were added much later into the games development to just fill an area. Mohg was obvious designed first with his arena in mind, but they needed a boss for the sewers so they just took his first phase and shoved him in there.

    How about a sort of opposite to this topic? Bosses with memorably good fights but an okay-ish story. A personsl choice of mine would be the Dragonslayer Armor. A fast-paced fight with a towering opponent that tests your skill with positioning serves as your last major roadblock before the Twin Princes, the Dragonslayer Armor demands your attention and can wipe you out with ease if not given enough. However, there isn't any sort of tragic tale to back the fight, nor a story about a great warrior. Instead, all we really get is "yeah, those things floating around that do nothing outside of this fight control it".

    Every boss in Elden Ring that isn't Malenia due to major balancing issues. You can get away with with playing terribly on a boss fight because of excessive number of flasks or stacking damage reductions or simply getting overleveled after thoroughly exploring the surrounding area.

    • @kwible3682
      @kwible3682 Před rokem

      People seem to think that Elden ring is meant to be played like that. If you want to get OP and over leveled, go spend the time meandering instead of learning the bosses. Elden ring does a bad job of teaching people to be agressive with bosses. Most don’t learn hoe to be in the flow state because Margit discourages them early on. You don’t need to be op to beat bosses. It’s more fun to spend time learning how to fight the boss than being cheap. It’s cool that elden ring has that option, but the nuances of the bosses are ignored by everyone who hasn’t mastered the system. It’s kind of like sekiro, with an emphasis on staggering.

    Might be a hot take, but artorias might be the most disappointing boss to be. Before I first fought him I’d heard of his reputation as many peoples favorite boss, was difficult for a ds1 boss, and had really cool and quick-paced attacks. I went into the fight with half of my max estus due to exploring the forest before the encounter. I got hit maybe 5 times the entire fight and was able to understand the dodge timings almost immediately. Most of the attacks just looked like the default claymore attack animations the player has to me. The jump spin attack was a spectacle, but he only did it once, and wasn’t very hard to dodge either. It was definitely a fun fight, but I was very underwhelmed considering his reputation in the souls community.

      Aldia would have been my top pick, so I was shocked not even to see him in the top 10. See all the commentary about Champion's Gravetender and multiply it tenfold because Aldia was the new final boss of a brand spanking new DS II remix, and he's almost offensively boring. It was like they gave us a new early game boss but multiplied his HP a bunch to make him an end game boss. And they spent the entire game building up this fight on top of it. With all the great DLC bosses they came up with, there's no excuse for how bad Aldia ended up.

    For me Godskin duo is the most disappointing, i love their design and theme but their fight is made boring by them not having attacks that compliment each other, its just two enemies who although look like they match dont have any synergy. I wish that the arena had a big spiral in it leading to the Centre of the room and a cutscene plays and the Noble starts rolling in the spiral closing in on you. Any cool gimmick like that i think could have saved the fight.
