    This will make sense only if your annual running is over 15000 KM for next 15 years. The upfront extra cost is 7 lakh rs . At an annual running of 15000 Km you would be saving roughly 600 lt fuel . Which translates to Rs 60,000 annual saving . PV of which comes to 5.5 lakhs at 7% intrest (conservative rate in case someone can make higher returns than 7% then running required would be more than 15k Km) . Assuming another 1Lakh for adas and paddle shifters . So you would be breakeven at roughly 15000 Km plus . Also you will have a smaller boot . So basically it doesn't make sense in case you have running less than 15000 KM. Also if someone plans an EMI on this then breakeven will be much higher . You need a daily running of 42KMs . Considering the future of Hybrid work models , this doesn't make economic sense .

Honda will have to close down its shop in next 5 years if they stay like this . I love Honda's but honestly they have got it all wrong in terms of pricing on almost all the cars be it Jazz , WRV , Civic , CRV etc. I wish they had better people managing their affairs .

    It’s not surprising that city hybrid gets better mileage is cities as because of bumper to bumper traffic if you are braking using regen, you will charge the batteries back up considerably. Esp., if you are driving in EV mode in the city the efficiency would be really good, not the same case with long highway runs though.

    Everything is Top notch on this car (just don’t compare with new gen Civic) but while making purchase decision price is the only factor that makes It very difficult for a middle class family who aspires for a city & specially that H badge.. Though it’s not meant for mass market. Currently the 21-22L car market is very competitive as Kia & MG has spoiled Indians with its tech enabled wizardry ..
    Honda works hard on its Engine refinement & they r proud as F*%K about it & they will put all their resources in that area..
    & now Indians r too spoiled to understand Engine wizardry but rather happy with cosmetic ones like that goddamn sunroof!!

    This is an excellent Hybrid initiative for India.
    What could have been better is
    1. The price of around 17-17.5 lacs
    2. Either a blind-spot monitor or a better screen for lane watch
    3. The screen's position at the top of the dash would have made a big difference.
    4. Adjustable headrest for passengers

    i hope new brezza comes in hybrid too, that would be amazing. I think most of the automobile companies in India should not move directly into electric unless they have means to do so, Indian automobile market can have transition from oil to hybrid and flex, and then from hybrid to electric and other sustainable fuel.

    First of all, your review is truly commendable and practical unlike other forums !!! Honda City was once upon a time a Star Car !! Sedan is a dying segment!! The feel of high seating, good visibility, in and out comfort in a compact SUV (Sonet, Nexon, Venue, Taigun etc..) is unmatched to a low seated sedan, thus C-SUV are in boom. Creta, Seltos, Hector and 700 are far better SUVs. Moreover, it seems a complex architecture (ICE+Battery+Electric Motor). When something goes wrong, even technicians at workshop don’t understand what’s wrong and car keeps stranded. Nevertheless, Pricing will decide fate of this car, no matter how good, it’s still a sedan !!!

  • @esupermansan7623
    @esupermansan7623 Před 2 lety +1

    It is expected to cost almost 7-9 lacs more than the Petrol city and Honda will conveniently say that the ADAS system is the reason for the hike in cost. The Battery pack is not even 1KW(although maybe partially sufficient for the car), it doesn't justify the cost of the battery given that Li-Ion Batteries cost 12-15k per KW. Ather has a 2.71Kw battery pack for reference. The entire system of Hybrid tech may cost not more than 1.5Lac. I don't understand with what confidence it's priced soo much higher than the Normal CIty. Also, the diesel City gives Avg of 19Kmpl (Honda claims 24) at just a 1.5lac premium over the petrol. The MS Ciaz Petrol costs under 13Lac with Smart hybrid (Almost non-existent) and yet gives average Mileage of 18-19Kmpl. So Is 6-8 kmpl more worth 24-26 Lac on-road (difference 11-13 Lac Almost 1 more Ciaz difference). The Ciaz is not Tin Can like the rest of Marutis.

    Biggest drawback for this car will be the compromised boot space and due to so much tech in the car, the maintenance cost will be significantly higher than normal diesel or petrol City and even the competition. Apart from Honda service centre i don't think we can get it serviced anywhere else post warranty period
