- The final match of the Victory Tour against China PR on Dec. 16 in New Orleans didn’t produce the result that everyone wanted, but the 255th and final game in the historic career of Abby Wambach was more about honoring one of the greatest players in the history of international soccer and her tremendous impact on the game, her teammates and the fans. The video features an original song written for Abby by actress/singer/songwriter Kelley Jakle titled “Best Goodbye.”

When Messi or Ronaldo will retire this is more or less what'll look like. The score of their final game will mean nothing, as it will be more about what the two did for the football community. Wambach will not be forgotten for a long time, and her record of goals will not be surpassed anytime soon

all these years later, still miss watching Abby play. she was one of the first reasons i found the womens game, and fell in love with it. Pinoe to Wambach was magic (especially the extra time goal vs Brazil in '11). first Abby, now Pinoe, Marta, all gone or leaving. left the game better than they found it. legends all. damn, im getting old.
