This is where I'd b sending both the top 2 armor creators a PKG. The small 1 was the last 1 standing & the fiber 1 was dope. Swag em up, Matt. For the effort & innovation.
Yep, the black one did the best, and to me, it was sized for testing purposes, but could easily be scaled up to torso size. When it comes to even possibly getting hit by bullets, I'd want maximum protection from becoming ventilated.
Seconded! The black one was impressive enough to show proof of concept.
Well said cohort, Matt got content from it, at least give the guys some swag.
Def swag em up
@@jreyman true but I think what he was saying was if they made it larger it would be way to impractical due to how heavy it would be with all the non nutonium fluid lol

Matt: "12g slug go bom lmao"
Kinda sucks he didnt work his way up this time.

To answer the question at the end, I would choose the M1 Garand as well. Longer range and you can put a knife on the end or it. And if for some reason it stops firing you can use it as a club. Great video though. I would have liked to see a finale with all three stacked together to see if collectively they all would have been level 4.
Same tho I'd probably take a 870 cause u can bayonet that also
Tho its not a option
Depends on the ammunition, also you can pretty much put a bayonet on everything with the great power of zip ties and duct tape, I'd honestly take the 12 gauge if I got choice of ammunition. Actually screw that I chose my truck!
Yeh I agree I would choose garand
Definitely, go for collaterals with that big ol round. Cod strats
Keltech just keep coming out with these must have man made monstrosities. I love it.
i think they are pretty cool and i can see the smaller one being used by cqb groups
I'm convinced they think gunsmithing is an artistic endeavor rather than an engineering one.
I have a ton of Keltecs and I love em. I have an su16e, sub2000 9mm, plr16, pmr30, rfb308, rdb 5.56, ksg 12, a pf9, and a p17. They’re some of the best running guns I own. My favorite is definitely the rdb

I’d choose M1 Garand. That’s 3 reloads at least if you’re accurate, and you can engage at a longer range than with the shotgun. The shotgun is only two full reloads, but that’s 11 rounds you need to load manually. The M1 can also be used as a club if necessary
In a house defo the shotgun with SG’s !

Oh my. That intro. The combination of me laughing at the horrible gun buying/safety violations, and the constant thought of putting a gun in my mouth. . . made me laugh and cry at the same time. Bravo. Encore.
Absolutely the Garand. First gun I ever fired, and loved every shot, not to mention the reload is much quicker.
First gun you ever shot? That’s like eating desert before dinner.
Not just faster reload, but also much more accurate and powerful at longer range meaning you can start shooting them sooner
@@archeverything I know, I was so spoiled lol on my first time, my first hand gun I ever fired right after the Garand, was a 1911 from WWII as well.
Of course I'm taking both! The "SHAWTY" is small and with a sling tossed on the back for cqb, and have the Grand for long range and power!
Now we're talking.
W
Thats not the question
Definitely the Garand. Im not letting them get close enough to use a shotgun effectively.
Same length barrel so accuracy will be very close. My ks7 is deadly out past where I'd usually not fire past
As a gun salesman myself, watching someone hit the slide release on an empty chamber like that really does warrant that guy’s reaction lol
The intro is a “super bad” reference
Watching the slide slam itself into battery must give you nightmares then ?. Which has more force, a recoil spring or 9mm projectile ?.
@@element-dh9dx Well no, it’s a transfer of energy. Hitting the slide release to chamber a round means the force is going into the round and not just hitting the wall of the slide. I mean do what you want with your own guns, but I wouldn’t do it to guns I don’t own.
@@Thickamus_Jones Or I'm talking about shooting the gun, that makes more force on the slide than hitting a slide release. Right before you feel recoil the slide has compressed your recoil spring and has now slammed all the way back home, with a lot more force than it does going the other way. We're talking 10 lbs of pressure on the spring vs, whatever the recoil is. This is why we need to keep a solid grip on it, otherwise may drop it. Hitting the slide release does not create felt recoil, is my point. Plus, I have never heard of a gun being ruined from doing this, it just can't happen with a poly lower with metal inserts. I can see if it was like a 3 thousand dollar 1911, then I also wouldn't like to shoot it.
sounds like nonsense
Thanks Matt for your support, i noticed the Thin Blue Line in your T-shirt.
👍💪
i wouldve gave the smaller armor a swag box as well. Although it was smaller it did a great.
For sure he stoped the most , he needs to remember not everyone has unlimited budgets like him probably why he made a smaller thicker plate , materials aren’t free
yeah i felt bad for em but he still did amazing none the less
It’s the more complicated one and it’s hard to scale up. And it even managed to stop a 9m right next to the slug hit.
I'll second that motion. Can't punish the guy by suddenly enforcing arbitrary specs that didn't exist prior to the video.
But if it is to expensive and compliceted to make a full sized plate, what usefulllness does it have as a homemade armor? Right, none! As a proof of concept: fine. Winner? Hardly. But yeah, guy deserved something for his work. But this is how the world goes. One price, one winner.
Im a fiber technician and I’ve always wondered about this. He was using zip chord(fiber patch chords) would like to see how it stops a tight buffer tube cable either a 6 strand or a 12 strand!
Looked like Kevlar from a tight buffered cable with mule tape. I hope it wasn’t zip chord or Matt is going to have a lot glass in his finger from digging around in those holes 😬
Well get a loom and make actual cloth out of it.
Creator here
I figured out while building it the zip cord would be pretty much useless compared to the muletape. There's too many gaps a bullet can slip through without hitting the kevlar strands. Your better off with more layers of muletape, duct sealant, and the metal insert plates from an OLT than the excessive thickness of the patch cords.
I only used the fiber patch cords to tell the difference between the as-is and hardened steel versions. I also liked it for the iconic look that I figured other techs would catch on to.
8:00 this man is also getting a free testing service?! 0o0 very smart indeed
I just picked up my ksg tactical today. I absolutely love it
I'm convinced the "idea" guy at Kel-Tec just does lines of Coke and comes up with random ideas, and every now and then one is good. The KSG, from what little time I have with one, is that good idea. Also those .22 pistols that hold 30 and then the newer one with 50 rounds, because those are just fun.
I own an RDB and I'd put it in that category as well.
Kel-Tec guy is the mad scientist of weaponry for every 5 firearms he produces 1 is at least B tier or above.
Most kel tec guns are ingenious
About the Peruvian marching powder...they ARE in Florida. As far as their products, I love my PMR30 and I *need* that KSG.

To be fair it never said it was rated the ar500 plates are rather thin for nij level 3a
"Thinking quickly, the boy constructs a shoota out of some string, a grot, and a shoota"
Hey man, its a smart trick. No one knows its dynamite if you put the toilet roll over it.
10:55 Nah, you misunderstood I think... There's no steel in that thing. They just used a steel plate to get the curve right. The armor is only carbon fiber.
It's hard to say, why would they use an expensive ar500 plate to Form the armor, except they actually bought a ar500 armor plate to get the scale right.
I don't think the slug would have went through with an ar500 armor plate in it, except the heat treatment did ruin the plate.
@@mammutMK2 naw there is no steel or it. It is 90 layers of plain weave carbon fiber. Formed with an ar500 plate to give it the shape and shooters cuts

I'd probably rock a garand against 20 zombies.
The reload seems less daunting than the KSG.
It just seems more clunky with more room for error than a garand.

Had a KSG and sold it. It was a piece of junk and had issues loading rounds when pumped. They are overpriced shoddy quality
And the unlimited ammo is only useful with the M1. After all, the KSG is still a kel-tec.
Fiber cable is surprisingly strong - I've seen drops get ripped off the pole by falling trees, get stripped straight to the core, and it'll still be passing light as if nothing happened.

Intros amazing as always had me on the edge of my seat seeing where that was going!
@B Linares he asked him if he knew that matt wasn't old enough...that's why he sold him the chocolate 1911
Answering the question:
M1 Garand, not because I don't think the Shotgun would do worse, I think in terms of killing power, the Shotgun would do better. But the criteria of defense was 20 zombies approaching your house, and the Garand can reload, shoot 8 bullets, and reload again before you reload the shotgun. If you asked that with the KSG-25 however, that becomes an interesting answer.
Since zombies aren’t real the data must come from movies. Shotguns do better in zombie movies.
@@technophant Guns in movies have unlimited ammo apparently, so yes... Shotguns do win.
However!!! Based on Call Of Duty Games the M1 Grand has the best reload speed to take on way more than 20 zombies and the penetration gives you more than 1 kill per bullet. 😁🤣

If I had to defend my home from 20 zombies, I would definitely go with the KelTec. Putting a bullet hole in a zombie wont kill it, removing the head with buckshot will kill it.
Nah, just gotta go for headshots. I'm taking the Garand for reloading. I can reload the Garand multiple times in the time it'll take to reload the KelTec once
You do realize that the .30-06 would absolutely annihilate the human brain correct? Like, it could easily puncture a human (And therefore zombie) skull. The shotgun may have spread, but not as much as many video games would have folks believe.
After a .30-06 there really isn't gonna be much head to speak of.
A 30-06 fmj would do enough damage to a human/zombie head for a 1 tap guaranteed kill, but you slap some expanding rounds in it and there'd be zombie brain matter raining from the trees for a solid 10 seconds after impact.
@@avgoalie01 depends what kind of zombies. If they're Walking Dead Zombies, I'd rather find a nearby stick and bash their fragile heads to save ammo. If they're World War Z zombies, good luck shooting the head when they're fast as fk.

Hey Matt, next time when you handle fiber cable. Do not touch it with bare hands. Especially after shattering it with guns, the shards can get inside you and cause a lot of internal damage.
it can poke in to the skin on the hands, but it doesnt "go inside you" through your hands. youd have to breathe the dust in to get "internal damage" cause its bad for the lungs.
source: ive worked with glass fibre for years
@@darealrulezbreaker9493 This feels similar as to him shooting glass orbs some time ago. Kept on breathing it in and started to sneeze a lot. I may misremember him accidentally cutting himself, but that could be something that can happen in the future.

I actually love my KS-7. Only thing is you cant use short brass through them cause the lip isnt meaty enough for it to consistently grip, this can cause failure to pick up the next round. Tall brass cycles through just fine. All that said, the KS series is great room to room and street to street style stuff, but you really have to abuse your shoulder to hit accurately over 100 yds.
You should take all the homemade body armor that you receive that you already tested and put it all together and see if it'll stop a 50 BMG

You had me so worried about everyone of you and your sanity.
The M1 would be my choice. I can put roughtly a fist sized grouping on a target from 600 meters with my .303 and thats a bolt action 30-06 is not only more powerful of a round but it also happens to come in a semi automatic package... sign me up cause If the horde never even makes to my yard was it really a threat? As for the whole its a zombie part well it seems pretty commonly accepted that one has to "remove the head" but do some medical research and realize that one could make a zombie little more then a angry head attached to a corpse by simply hitting them in the upper torso. See the spine is setup in such a way that unless i hit it at Diaphram level or lower it still renders the rest of the body paralyzed and therefore your zombie is as i said above nothing more then a angry head attached to a corpse and 30-06 has enough power to quite easily reach the spine to say the least
i can hit a 8 inch plate at 500 yards with iron sights with the 30-06 so i am on your side there dude
Dude you gotta send a package and sight to the real winner too lol. Just because he didn’t over build the dimensions to be actually used doesn’t mean he didn’t win!! He knew you were just gonna jack it up 🤣
Dimensions is a factor, like he said anything is bullet proof if you stack up enough of it. He did say practically the black one was basically useless as a plate. A 2 inch plate on your chest is going to hinder so much your just a easy target. And holy fuck the weight of that thing full front and back coverage fuck no.

Garand, easily. Fast reload, even though slug or buck would be great on zombies. 10 zombies down in no time, but then you have to reload the thing. Depending on how many doors you can lock before they get to you, the KSG could be a great pick since its small and packs a punch. But in my current home, Garand for sure.
Garand has 6 rounds, I think a saiga with mags would be better.
@@tetraxis3011 8 round clips homie. If your going ww2 era. M2 carbine would likely be the better pick.
@@tetraxis3011 And since they come in clips, it's way more efficient to reload than shoving in shell after shell in the KSG.. 20 zombies, maximum 3 clips you need since they come in 8 round clips, compared to at least fumbling around with 10 shells with the KSG before the last 10 zombies comes at you. In a defensive position where you hold a door or two, the short KSG wont matter the slightest. Garand any day.
I think this depends. Are we talking about the fast moving zombies like we've seen from the Dawn of the Dead or we talking slow moving zombies from the Walking Dead?
Then the next question, are the zombies killed from a brain shot like in most zombie movies, or are the zombies merely infected people who will still die from normal trauma wounds? Are we facing zombies like that from Return of the living dead part 1 where they don't die from brain shots? Not a bad question Burt....
I think the type of zombie will weight in heavily as to what type of firearms or weapons that will be better suited.
@@PantsuMann fun fact, the ksg isn't new and there's 3 different models. The count in the tube depends on the size of the shell ya use, if memory serves the biggest model can hold like 24 2in shells

I mean, clearly the Kel-tec style solution is... a bayonet handguard above the front grip. Or make it a surround grip with knuckle spikes.
I made some homemade body armor. I used a 1/4 inch steel plate with 30 something layers of woven roving fiberglass, since fiberglass is a relatively cheap, high tensile strength material. It stopped all but my .300 Win Mag.
Wow I really enjoyed this video and the gun store sold the pistol like as if they sold a toy 😂😂👍👍
Depending on what type of steel the guy used in the fiber ones, heat treating and quenching might have done nothing. Some steels won’t harden and some need specific processes to harden.
@Jurtez Lupa The fiber material is what caught the round. It still went through the steel and the fiber material is different between the two.
Creator of the "Fiber Technician Special" here,
It was the Same Material, Same setup, Same Weaving. I used OLT insert plates, duct sealant and muletape as the primary materials. The only real difference was the Yellow wrapped one didn't get hardened/heat treated steel, and it also got fiber cable wrapping so it would be easier to tell the 2 apart.
I asked them if I could send in 2 separate versions cause I purposely wanted to know if the steel hardening process will help or if it's just a waste of time and effort.
Unfortunately I don't what type of metal composition it is, just know it was magnetic. All the metal came from blank insert cards on an Adtran TA5000 OLT
Also the process I used was pretty basic forging, coal campfire pit and a fan to blow it. Heated it up til it demagnetized and quenched it vegetables oil. Then stuck in an oven at 400° for 3hrs I believe.
Tried to keep everything as true to my theme as I could, if you found yourself out in fiber hut could you make practical homemade body armor.
So I'm sure someone with a real forge and some real experience would have done a better job on the steel hardening part than I did, but it was my first time attempting such a thing.
@@woodntuliktano Not knowing what type of steel it is, is huge. So for example A36 steel, which is the most popular structural steel. It does not matter how hot or how long you heat it and how you quench it. It will still be very close to the same hardness after. While a lot of other steels just need to be heated to their transition temp and quenched in oil. And then some steels need very specific steps done while heating and quenched almost perfectly when it comes to cooling time and how even they are cooled. Also the bake at 400 degrees May have gotten rid of most of any hardness you got from heat treat.
And this is all in guessing that you had non hardened steel to begin with. I recommend doing a file test next time, if you try again. You can also get hardness testing file sets if you wanted to get more into it.
Wow was really hoping you were going to shoot the green plate with more pistol rounds. Not level 3A unless it stops a 44 mag your 357 python would have been a really cool test for it.
This should have like 5 million views by now, is it cool!!
Awesome video man! I'm picking the M1 garand all day!
