I use audio description on Netflix all the time, I really enjoy it. I wonder if you knew that they have audio description on Amazon prime video as well? Only for certain titles though. It’s a great thing to see these streaming services looking out for us and giving us a better experience watching television. Great video is always Matt

Finally something that actually worked I accidentally turned audio description on and it was so annoying thank u so much
I never knew about this feature until it was accidentally turned on by my dog walking on the remote. It drove me crazy for several hours looking for the cure. I was resetting my Tv, Un-plugged my Roku, Updated software on everything. Nothing worked. Finally, I watched a video on CZcams to show me how to turn it off. I was about to pull out the rest of my hair because of this feature. Strange though, it only occurred on my Paramount + App, but not on Netflix or any other App.
I don't like audio description, how can I remove it from my phone while watching a move in Netflix?
I watch Netflix on my iPad so I have a voice-over on and I find it really easy but I am the only one who uses it and if somebody is watching a TV show with me on my iPad then you can bet your box that they’ll have to enjoy your audio description. I have a friend who has an apple television is well which has voice over on it. But like I said before, usually once you turn it on it stays on unless someone turns it off.

I love audio descriptions. My husband and friends actually enjoy them too. They have says thar it describes much better than they could what is going on. I've started using it at the theater as well especially with action movies. Great video!

Thanks Matt and Corey great video and it was very helpful. I have been struggling for way too long then I would like to help my mother set up her fire TV. And this definitely answered one of the questions I had when I get that far. I have the knowledge my head of what I need to do to set up the TV to connect it to internet Wi-Fi but I am not making much progress.I am making a lot smaller steps forward then I would like and definitely my mother wishes I had it set up weeks ago.it would be great if I could get it connected and I could connect it to Alexa it is Alexa enabled but I'm not there yet. So if you ever decide to do more videos on a smart TV I will be right here glued to my phone listening very closely. So thank you very much for the video! Very helpful and very timely!

Good video! Curious to learn if Matt is able to activate Netflix without any audio description. I know onto Apple TV it’s just like the iPhone where you can enable voiceover and it will tell you what you were sorting and then you can enable the audio description on Netflix
Good morning, that is actually a great question. Corey and I were talking about this. In order to set up audio description, you would almost need a sighted person to do it because there was no feedback when Corey was going through the settings as you probably noticed in the video. However, there have been some great comments here of other people suggesting and sharing how it can be done through iOS. Similar to what you did in this comment, there are definitely other ways to get it set up and turned on for people who are very low vision or completely blind and cannot see the TV in order to activate audio description. But to answer your question, no, there would be no way for me to get it set up on the TV the weather Corey did because I wouldn’t be able to hear what is going on to navigate through the prompts. I would need to use one of these other methods to enable are you description. Thanks for the comment and for watching! Matt

Awesome video. I don’t know if you have noticed but usually your Netflix account remembers if you have audio description on one TV series and if you watch another TV series it automatically puts audio description on for you without you having to do it. If you watch a show and it does not come on it’s 90% because it does not have it in my experience xoxo

I really enjoy the audio description on Netflix. It makes you feel like you’re really not missing out on anything. I accidentally turned on the subtitles once, so voiceover was reading them as they were on the screen .

I wasn't hearing anything in the menus for settings being spoken. Was this on a regular TV with a remote, or on a desktop screen with perhaps some screen reading scripts? I guess I'm wondering if netflix can be had stand alone over iphone, with internet service but no other paid TV, besides netflix. I know there is an app.
Hi Audrey, you were not hearing anything with the settings, because it was not speaking anything. Corey and I were actually having that discussion that it would be virtually impossible for a blind person to enable audio description because there are no audible feedback in order to get into the menu settings. However, someone did write a great comment which I pinned on this video that you may want to check out. That may be helpful setting up audio description for someone who is blind or unable to see the settings. This video was recorded on our TV with the remote. It's been several years since I've had paid TV of any kind. I think it was just after hurricane Katrina, that I cancelled DirecTv. My old garage sale TV from the sixties, will still pick up a few over the rabbit ears channels, by way of that government issue analog to digital plastic box. I did rewire it after changing apartments last year, and turned it on to see if it worked. Heard the end of a Columbo show, which was comforting, and turned it back off. Grins! The whole smart TV thing has long taken off without my feeling like I will ever catch up with a thousand other things pulling me every direction.
LOL! It’s nice to know that the old TV with the rabbit ears still works along with the government issued HD box. LOL, that is awesome! That’s all right, a lot of us are behind the times with technology anyway, no need to feel bad. :-) Hope all is going well. Matt
I’ve known about audio description for years but I’ve never used it. I just thought it would be distracting even though I can’t see most of the screen. Is it really just as easy to follow the real dialogue?
Good morning Scott! I think you should try it out if you’re interested. Yes, it is very easy to follow the dialogue of the show or movie with audio description and it is not distracting at all. I really enjoy it, it allows me to watch TV shows and movies with Corey and still be able to follow along with all of the nonverbal‘s. I hope this was helpful! Thanks again Scott, Matt
Do u have any tips on daily task as a blind person my husband his been blind for 3 years now due to a senseless car jacking he was shot and we was told lack of oxygen and lost of blood affected his optic nerve being we are kind of new to this and sometimes are completely lost so any advise will help like to start off using the microwave or any device with flat buttons (he looks to cook ) or knowing the difference from the shampoo or body wash as u may now the small thing become big thing with this disability thank u
Hi, I sincerely apologize about the delay in getting back to you on this comment. He would probably have more ease around the kitchen cooking and using the appliances by simply putting textured buttons on different keypads on the appliances he uses so that he knows for example where the different numbers are to set the heat of the oven, or the temperature of the burners. Or to program the microwave.In the shower, you could do something as simple as putting the shampoo bottle on the left and the conditioner on the right then the body wash to the right of that. Simply putting the bottles in an order in which a person reads from left to right end of the order that the products will be used. Or you could always put a rubber band around the shampoo, nothing around the conditioner, and possibly have a different shaped bottle for the body wash.My biggest advice would be just have consistency. Consistency is very important for a blind or visually impaired person. Putting everything back exactly where it was, keeping any full glasses of water against the back of the countertop so they are not accidentally tipped over, and making sure that shoes and other devices are picked up off the floor as they are easily tripped on by a blind or visually impaired person. I hope these little tips and tricks help. Otherwise I do have other videos on my channel talking about this and I thank you again, I hope some of these help. Matt

I have the option for both the English with and without it on Netflix on my phone but on my tv it is stuck on English with the audio description and there is no option to turn it off it just says “English” rather than “English - Original” and “Original - Audio Description” anyone know how to fix?

okay for reference adding to this my Roku TV has a screen reader that will tell you the titles of things and what the buttons are as you scroll over them on any streaming app on the Roku so this would help someone find the buttons to turn on audio descriptions

You can’t delete it, it is a option made by Netflix
