How to make Jamaican Easter Bun

  • 1 cup milk
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup Grace Guava Jam
    1 medium egg (optional)
    3 tablespoon Margarine, melted
    2 cup flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon mixed spice
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
    1/2 cup mixed peel
    1/4 cup raisins, soaked
    1 tablespoon Browning
    Heat milk, stir in sugar and 1/4 cup Grace Guava Jam and mix until dissolved, then put to cool.
    Beat egg and add to cooled milk mixture along with melted Grace Prima Margarine.
    Sift together dry ingredients. Make a well in the center of dry ingredients, and add the liquid mixture.
    Add mixed peel, soaked raisins and Grace Browning and mix well.
    Scrape batter into a greased tin.
    Bake at 350°F for 1/2 an hour. Lower temperature to 325°F and continue baking for another 30 minutes.
    Remove bun from pan and allow to cool.
    Melt remaining Grace Guava Jam and use to glaze the warm bun.
