THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THAT PCM SETTING! I've been racking my brains for the past week trying to figure out why some audio doesn't work but others does - it must have been the 5.1 not working with my old stereo unit. Forcing it to PCM fixed it all.

Is there a similar box that takes an HDMI from the TV and then plugs into an analog amp with phono plugs, as here? I've seen a bewildering array of 'HDMI to RCA' converters on Amazon, but the descriptions and diagrams seem to talk about unrelated things and are nowhere near as simple as your video. Thanks!

I have a first generation backwards compatible PS3 and I connected it to my receiver with an optical audio cable, and I want to be sure that I'm actually getting all channels. The voice sounds slightly far away, but everything else sounds phenomenal. HDMI cables won't work by themselves because it's only going through my television and not connecting directly to my receiver because it doesn't have that port. I'm connected from my PS3 HDMI to my TV and my receiver is connected to my television. Hell, I don't know. That yellow port area also has connections for everything that's on all the ports with red and white ports. Above that area is classification "Video". Above the red and white ports is "Audio:. What are all those single yellow ports under Video for? I know, I'm an idiot.....lol
