- The Russian TT30 and TT33 were semi-automatic pistols developed to replace the old Model 1895 Nagant revolver. They were designed by Fedor Tokarev and were in production from 1930-1955. The 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge is very similar to the 7.63x25mm Mauser aka 30 Mauser, but has a higher muzzle velocity. The muzzle velocity for an 85 gr 7.62 Tok projectile is about 1,630 fps.
The M57 is a historically similar Yugo version of the TT-33. The difference is mainly in the magazine well, which is longer.
In this video we test out a Yugoslavian M57 against some one inch pine wood blocks. This measures penetration without the need for ballistics gel. The bullet is also easily recoverable.

"It went 8 inches totaly "
That guy
Thats why i trust a tokarev with my life
Btw in Serbia M57 is still being made and it is only around 50-60$
@@andrejveselinovic7688 damn. That's a good price!
then why russian military doesnt use tokarev ammo anymore?
@@hominemundus well capacity has become more of a popular thing, both civilian and military. Now in my personal opinion the Russians could've worked more on the cartridge but they didn't. Probably because they are trying to compete with the us which in my opinion isn't the best idea all of the time.
@@blackrav3n659 russian can design new tokarev pistol with double stack magazine if they want it, but they didnt. Does tokarev ammo lack stopping power?
The question is which loading was used. 7.62x25 is a hot rod but there once was some old Bulgarian ammo that was really hot. About 1600 FPS. Im guessing it was really intended for SMGs. But yes, famous for drilling deep and shooting flat.
It’s not supposed to fire hot ppsh rounds. The shooting with ppsh rounds potentially could damage the barrel of tt pistol because of very high energy(0.8 grams of explosives in ppsh rounds vs 0.5 grams in standard tt rounds)
@@nicknamenick9448 It probably was never a good idea to have two extremely different loads for 7.62x25 or 9x19. High pressure ammo always manages to show up where it shouldn't be used.
I chronographed the S&B 7.62tok out of my cz52 and got 1600fps.
The PPU stuff I think was around 1450.
@@brandenelkins2923 The S&B is smokin hot. The PPU probably has been cooled off to keep product liability issues to a minimum. 1450 FPS is still pretty warm for pistol ammo.
@@johnnorman7708 yeah the ppu stuff shoots really smooth!
That’s why they called her the red cannon 💯💥
Хорош. Наш родной ТТ, еще долгие годы ты будешь в строю.
Only Tokarev. I fired with a Tokarev many times 7.62mm very nice gun. My father hade for many years ago Zastava M70a, 9mm.
This was never a weak caliber. Commonly used by gangsters all over Europe, Africa and Middle East.
Gangsters? You mean terrorists?
The tokarev or as I like to say better than my 1911 because it hasn't jammed everytime I shoot it unlike my 1911
Hahaha 🤣
1911 suck
Great combat pistol. I don’t know about using it for a nightstand pistol it over penetrates you might hit someone you don’t intend to after it passes through the target you intend to hit.
Yea probably not the best idea for EDC or home defense. But could be a viable pistol if a situation arises for its uses.
any bottle-necked cartridge is going to have decent penetration
I love this 30bore more than 9mm
Me too!!
Да, ТТ был мощным пистолетом, если бы не отсутствие предохранителя, то вообще был бы замечательным
Там стоит предохранитель
What is a fuse?😅
@@Unknoncatchybot safety or safety catch
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the mafia used Tokarev against the police because TT could pierce bulletproof vests. however, this did not always help the mafia because they usually did not know how to shoot accurately.
Must be in 7.62x25 no 9mm would do thst.
It is in 7.62x25
Pistols don't have penetration, bullets do.
Perfect for my collection
Thats a huge musle fire... 😮 I didnt know that tokarev was not 9mm 😅
Eat that Hollywood!😊
Esa cosa incluso atraviesa chalecos antibalas💀
Yes level II
The 7.62×25 is second only to the .45 acp hazard.
10 millimeter mo betta
7.62x25mm Tokarev, and 7.63x25mm Mauser are equals. The Mauser came first, and the Tokarev copied. Either way, I do admire both calibers heavily. I think Germany, and Russia should both rethink the potential of each caliber.
@@swempley God's caliber
@@leviturner3265 I think 7.62x25 Tokarev is hotter than 7.63x25 Mauser
Ahora con todas las demás pistolas de la W W 2.... 👊🏻👊🏻
Nice test
Thanks
Pistols don't have penetration, bullets and loads do.
Correct, but one could make an educated guess that the M57 Tokarev pistol is chambered in the original caliber, 7.62x25mm
I had the exact pistol loved it bought it at turnerz outdoorsman
Essa Makarov, têm um excelente raiamento furou várias tábuas@
Is it weird that I immediately thought Florida, and then immediately thought red neck, and then immediately thought Texas all at once? (These aren’t mutually exclusive)
Lol
If those are 1 by peices of wood then its closer to .75 inches per peice.
That's nucking futs.
Always amazed by the tokarev. I shot through the steel post ends of a dumpster once. Went through both sides! Cheapest armour piercing rounds ever! Bought 5000 rounds like 15 years ago. 5 cents a round.
I remember you could get that gun at gun shows for $70 back in the day
Thats pretty good for a small pistol cartridge but about stopping power?
I want one
Marry the hands, seat the web, full presentation.
I have five remaining bullets for mine…last time I asked a place if they had any they just laughed at me…
Lol
Try ammo seek website
Have you tried online? It’s too bad the USA has ban on Norinco because that’s where I get my ammo, I haven’t tried any mil surplus ammo on mine.
What I’m Tok’n about….! Get it??? I slay me…. How do I do it…?
What’s the name of your/this pistol grip?
Think it’s a tea cup grip. This isn’t a viable grip there days.
gravity helps if you use the tokarev at it's intended firing angle, 45 degrees downwards at a kneeling german
Enough to pass 3A :)
I have some Romanian surplus ammo for my TT33-C 1956 . I think Tokarve was original 30super carry back in 1933?🤣🤔🤔
Except .30 super carry isn't necked and doesn't produce as much energy. Though it's nice because you can hold more rounds in a mag compared to a 9mm and almost comparable in power.
I dont quite know what to think about, or how to categorize the . 30 Super Carry. I dont have quite the conflict with the historic 7.62x25. It's place in the world and in the grand scheme of things was decided before I was born.
I carried a Chinese M20 that I picked up in Cambodia. We used Czech ammo. Really hot. Only problem with the M20 was no safety other than half cock.
Mateus, Marcos, Lucas e João
Awesome 👍
Wood shooting oh boy
I waaaaaaaaant one
True penetration is tested with both lead core and steel core. This test is only 50%.
So wood house 🏡 is not 🚫 safe 😁
Lol
I will have to remember this the next time i am attacked by a tree😂
You do not want to get hit by these rounds. Some types of body armor will not offer protection.
Yes, these rounds are hot! It’s noted that they go through level II body armor
I have the cz 52
Need to do a test w/a PPsh or pps 43.
7.62×25 is better in most aspects than a 9mm
For starters, longer shell and as such, more power... i think.
Aside from that questionable guess, i know for sure that smaller projectile will go much faster and penetrate deeper.
But where to get mags. I had 2 but some "friend" stole one.
ebay and gunbroker. they're everywhere lol
Maybe try Numrich or Apex parts
Tim ya can make the mags yerself!! Just buy Iron ingots and a Furnace and start melting metal my lad!!
I thought the tea cup grip on handguns had been made illegal.
???
@@swempley just a joke. The guy in the video uses a terrible grip on the gun. Provides very little stability and even less recoil control. Instructors will call that type of grip a tea cup grip.
Lol
@@Rusty_ok Must be why he was close to missing the board at that close range.
The pistol doesn’t penetrate any thing it the bullet in the pistol
True, most would assume 7.62 Tokarev but some Tokarev pistols are in 9mm and modern 7.62 Tokarev is different than surplus
Spicy round.
In USSR some cops preferred to engage the suspect armed with it without body armour because while it didn't penetrate, damage was much worse.
Wouldn't like to be shot with one with or without armour and even with modern medicine...
According to other tests and research online, the 7.62x25mm is capable of penetrating level II body armor
@@BattlefieldCurator I bet it would still hurt too much even if you had level 3
Yes ❤❤❤❤❤
Is that pine?
Yes
8 inches !? No that was like three feet bro the first three was at least 6 inces.....🥺
What is the bullet made of?
Hardened steel covered in a low grade brass jacket that is very thin .
Is that double stack?
No, single stack
Still doing the tea cup grip huh?
Lol
7.62x25 vs 5.7???
5.7. It is a modern round designed to penetrate armor. It is probably the best pistol ammo in the world. x25 was mad very long time ago. Before ww2
@@erkintiko5132 true. But how does it compare to tokarev?
Wow…I had no idea 7.62x39 is a beast
This is 7.62x25, a smaller round for pistols. The bullet has the same diameter, but different shape and the casing is smaller.
x25. x39 is what the original AK fired
❤️🔥
Too much penetration power. If it dont hit any vital organ it will just go trought the meat without any particular damage.
that’s why this pistol is loved in Russia.
That's why people in Pakistan like and carry tt pistol.... I have one zastawa pak made
❤❤
😯
8 inches is too much you only need 6
Lol
Yep
😢😢🎉🎉
In comparison to what???
Any other cartridges 😮
To your dad's skull, I guess?
your mum
Wtf 😂 work on your form bro thats not proper grip
Three quarter inch boards
Who taught you how to hold a pistol sir😅😅😅
