I’ve had a microwave cover for years. Not only does it prevent splatters, it heats food up faster. It’s easier to clean than the oven itself and I store it right in the microwave.
I think most of them are dishwasher safe too! Definitely recommend getting one.
When my kids were home, we had a rule . Use the plate cover, or you get to scrub the microwave
I’ve always used a plate cover. It works great as well. 🙂
I actually just wet a piece of paper towel and place it over things like spaghetti, but then I also use that wet paper towel to clean up immediately if it does still splatter.
👍 storing it in the microwave is key!
I can't believe you're not using a microwave cover! You're going to love it. They have these really nice ones with magnets on the top, so you just lift them up and they stick to the roof of your microwave. Then you don't have to take up space somewhere else storing the thing.
As someone without a dishwasher, filling the sink before cooking is a game changer 🎉 Ps. Love the goat 🐐
Yeah that's one of my favourite hacks for myself
Once I started using a timer I learnt that tasks didn't take as much time as I thought it would take and that helped me to not procrastinate as much. I will see something that needs to be done and instead of thinking it would take a half hour and wanting to put it off I now just do it because I now know it will actually just take 5 mins 😂
Indeed🎉😊🎉
This helped me so much as well! Sometimes i keep timing myself anyway as starting the timer makes it a game XD
I got a tip from a coworker, to put vinegar and dish soap in a dish wand and clean it while I'm in the shower. I also wipe it with a magic eraser every time I shower.
Just don't slip!!
Yes! I clean my tile with a brush a little at a time while I'm rinsing my hair. Doesn't have to be done all in one day. Doesn't even have to use any specific soap.
Squigee every time we shower. No effort, perfect results
Those magic erase sponges are great for doing dishes, too. They remove coffee and tea stains quickly when you could be scrubbing a stained cup for 10 minutes to get the results the melamine sponge gives in 20 seconds. A big plus is the magic erase sponges don’t develop bad odors from bacteria growth the way conventional dish washing sponges do.
But be CAREFUL! It can get very slippery. Keep one hand on the grab bar! That saved me from a bad fall.
I have a tiny apartment and live with 2 cats. I finally got the smaller cordless vacuum and it’s so much lighter than the traditional vacuum. Now it’s much easier to vacuum 2x a week instead of waiting until I am suffocating from cat fur lol
When I saw the cordless vacuum cleaner I was like oh my gosh I need that so bad I also had shoulder surgery so I have to go with Lefty for a bit on and off
I love my 3 lb oreck with shoulder strap or handle and super long cord so much bc it makes whipping it out and cleaning so easy
@@dawnl.7945Hope your shoulder is healing/has healed well. I’m right handed, had my right shoulder replaced 12/14/2022, now I have a bionic arm (well, feels like it anyway).
@@moonxshaktiI’ve had a lightweight Oreck for 20 years. I’ve tried many other vacuums- cordless, canister, upright, etc. I always come back to my Oreck.
Cordless vacuum for the win! Such a game changer.
10 minutes a day is 5 hours a month of tidying. It's easier to do 10 minutes rather than a marathon tidy when you are at your wits end.
Thank you!!!! I've been trying to get this into my husband's head. My job takes me out of town for 2 to 14 days at a time. I feel so frustrated to come home and have 2 hrs of cleaning to do. When I'm home everyday I spend 20 minutes a day and the house is always spotless ( husband is retired kids are all grown out on their own)
Encourage your husband to reward himself for the tidying or even during the tidying. I really like listening to a particular podcast, but I made it a rule that I have to start cleaning my bathroom in order to start playing the newest videos.. Bathrooms with four boys in the house is what I dread, but as a stay at home mom it’s part of my responsibilities to clean, but it’s still my husbands responsibility to talk to the boys about use of the bathroom such as improvement on aim. 😣
This is me every weekend. I end up not finishing it all and getting frustrated having to do it all again next weekend. I end up not resting. I gotta get better about tidying!
Or right before you have guests over LOL.
It's ok be kind to yourself how about a reward like lollies or chocolate after 15 min of cleaning and that's all you'll do, then after 15 min if you want to clean more and if you don't want to you don't need to cos you've done your 15 min.@@TheDragonSeer
I switched from plastic wrap on my fridge shelves to stiff plastic place mats. The wrap kept getting torn or wadded as everyone shoved and slid stuff in. So much easier to put in and take out. Rinces off easily most of the time. Dishwasher safe if I want to sanitize. Great video. Love your channel
Yep I use those in my fridge that is harder to clean. Works well!
And most of all: More sustainable! ❤
Me too. Much better.
Love it! Thank you!
Good idea!
I love 14 of the 15! To be honest I worked in property management for about 15 years and those tablets that go in the tank? They eat away at the workings of the toilet which leads to leaks, costly water bills and having to replace them almost yearly...so...hang one in the bowl is fine, but not in the tank. (Sorry to be a Negative Nellie)
I've heard that so many times....
Yep, I was looking for this comment! Our building's handyman (during inspection) asked me if I used them and I was like heck no, pointing to the bowl clip-on block instead. 😂
I won't use them because I think about if we were in a survival situation and needed to use the water in the tank😅
Imagine what they're doing to our waterways and the creatures that live there. 🐢🦔🐇🐍🐟🦐🦀🦆🦅🦋🐝
@@kayo5291well, what we’re flushing down is toxic, human waste.
I felt so happy to hear someone else admit to cluttering up the flat surfaces in the home. That is a huge weakness of mine. Time for me to "bin up"
My motto, "If you don't make a mess you don't have to clean a mess"
This helps me to do things like take a few extra minutes when cooking to rinse the dishes and put everything away. Sometimes I can even take advantage of the seconds in between cooking steps and by the time I'm done cooking the clean up is nearly done.
I do the same! I try to clean up everything before having dinner, so that we all just have to put our dishes into the dishwasher and done!
Same here.
Parchment paper, slow cooker liners, and microwave splatter guards are 3 of the greatest inventions ever!
Why buy a splatter guard when you have perfectly good plates in your cupboard? Just cover it with one of those.
I'm not a fan of heating up plastic, so 2 of those are out for me. So I'll say the dishwasher is one of the greatest inventions (even cleans my slow cooker for me)
@balesshippolova if you buy the cheap flimsy paper plates, you'll have plate covers for a while. I can always toss them when they get food spatter on them and keep my microwave clean, without plastic.
It is wasteful
Someone prob already said this but you can't line the new ovens with foil. It will mess up the bottoms...what you can do is put foil on the lower rack under whatever might be spilling.
I have heard this before so I bought a specially designed liner, but can you explain this to me?
@@GenRN when my mom had her oven put in the guy told us not to put any foil down there. And I think mine said the same thing on the instructions. I think it sticks to it and you can't get it off ever. I don't remember what else he said about it just not to do it. Sorry! What did you buy to put down there? I would like to cover mine. I cook bacon in there and last time it made a big mess. Ugh. 😑
@@dianasimplifies it is some liner specifically designed for bottom of the oven. They need to design bacon to not splatter. 😂
@@GenRN yesss and I accidentally turned it to 400. I had read if you cook it at 375 there is less spattering and that is so true! I really messed up turning it to 400!!
@@dianasimplifies someone visiting did that at my house. I had to literally disassemble the fan at the back of the oven to clean it. I’ve never seen such a mess so I do feel you. I’m so scarred by it that I’ve never bought bacon that wasn’t pre-cooked since. 😂
I LOVE the screaming goat! 🐐
I loved her husband's "Help me". The goat was a laugh, too.
Before having my dessert after a meal, I ALWAYS tidy up the kitchen first, and then (as a reward) I'll have my dessert!
Also I wipe off my microwave every time after using it, like you do with your shower. It's always clean!
I've been giving my shower mini cleanings for years. I keep an organic cleaner and sponge in the shower and just do a single wall or area each time I shower.
Also, decluttering really has made a huge difference since I starred about a year ago
Love your videos !!! Years ago I heard a church sermon ..... if you have young children living in your home your home is suppose to look like there are young children living there. Honestly, when I heard that I was relieved from a lot of stress !!! One thing I did not get rid of right away was the playpen. Not that my girls ever liked being in the playpen .... but that was my catch all for the toys. One side was left down and when they were done playing all the the toys had to go back in the playpen. If they were not returned .... they disappeared into my big black trash bag. When the time came for 'rewards' they could pick out a toy from the bag. It did not take that long for them to pick up all their toys at the end of the day ....
Amen
Brilliant!
One side of a playpen left down poses a suffocation hazard in the mesh pocket that is created. I didn't believe it till I saw my own child just naturally roll into the soft mesh pocket and couldn't really get out himself. Luckily we were right there to grab him.
@@jcm4923 Fortunately, that never happened to my girls. They are now wonderful adults-40 // 43. Unfortunately ... accidents do happen. I always have 'wonderful' flashbacks when I watch Ariel's videos. Thank you for bringing out that point.
This is so helpful! One kind of pack that I do is putting five or more garbage bags at the bottom of the garbage. Then you don't have to go get a garbage bag when changing the trash, there's already one at the bottom.
Store your garbage bags under the kitchen sink.
Unless I have a giant box from a warehouse store, I keep the entire roll of bags in the trash can.
Instead of aluminium foil, use a silicone baking mat that is dishwasher-safe for the oven. Or one of those multiple use baking sheets. ❤ That reduces your garbage and still keeps your oven clean. 😊
I agree! I've used aluminum foil and itvended up being practically welded to the bottom of the oven. It was awful. Love silicone mats.
Thank you for this. We need to think about the environment.
I remember with my last two kids the exact moment I have that light bulb revelation about their toys!! I had all their toys in wonderful bins with lids but it seemed like they were always DUMPED everywhere!! I found a really large shelf to keep all their bins on then we started a library check out system and it was FANTASTIC!!
Such a cool idea!
@@daisyjo88Library checkout system. That’s brilliant!
You are a national treasure.
Three things that keep things cleaner at my house: to expound on the daily shower wipe down, I have glass shower doors and when my shower is over I squeegee them dry every single time. It takes less than a minute and the doors stay clear and clean. I also run my robot vac pretty much every other day or every 2 days. Don’t give dirt or messes a chance to get ground into your carpet or floors. Lastly, when I leave a room, I look around for things that don’t belong there to take with me to put away elsewhere.
Love it when you said -give that back to your grandma !!!!! 😅❤
But...I'm the Grandma😊.
My husband works long hours, so I often shower with my 3 year old and 10 month old. Hot tip: 3 year olds will squeegee happily for an entire luxurious shower 😂
Oh my gosh this brought back memories from my mom doing this with me! It was so much fun! I’m in my 20s, your kids won’t forget this sweet memory.
@@hello-ef4bn 😭🥰 this is so sweet!!
I love seeing how curious the cats are in what you're doing. Makes me miss my nosey kitties.
For a clean shower I use only gel soaps which leave less residue than bar soap.
I live in a tropical culture with lots of humidity which tends to create moldy situations. So I also squeegee the whole shower and floor and then dry all the surfaces with a microfiber cloth.
I also keep a crevice brush if I notice any mold between tiles.
This daily routine keeps the shower clean.
I always say I’m in my disposable era. I had to let go of the guilt of using paper plates and plastic utensils. It’s just what I need to survive at this time in my life.
I have 3 cats. I use disposable paper plates and bowls tossing them every couple of days as well as a plastic spoon dedicated to getting their were food out of the cans. Extra money spent yes but fast and easy.
When I started living in a place with inspections a friend suggested disposable cutlery, plates etc since I struggle with dishes for the time before inspections. I've now added in easy-to-make/clean up foods. I also admit to using my steam cooker mostly (year-round) for food prep so I'm cleaning that bowl and a utensil.
I use disposables on Sundays now so I can have a sort of Sabbath. I feel a little guilty too. But I’m trying to remind myself to take of me.
@@TonyaNelson-hl6yo it's a tough thing, I get the guilt. But we need to take care of ourselves too.
Yeeeeh🎉😊
How do you not have 1M subs? I 💖your videos. Thank you, thank you- I feel like a human instead of a complete loser jerk. And, my house is cleaner due to your influence and tips. 💕
Thank you ❤️ I'm so glad you're here!
You aren’t a loser! You are a sweet soul who simply might not have the knowledge to get the job done. Learning this stuff can be hard and it’s not like you can sign up for a class. So keep watching these and think of them as tutorials. 😉
Give that back to your grandma 👵😂.
My hacks…definitely the microwave cover, squeegee the shower after every use, trash cans everywhere, use Alexa for reminders.
Yes! Trash can in every room!!!!!!
I squeegee too,it's a game changer
@@lesjay6968 my husband complains. I explain to him that we do it because we are lazy. A little work now equals a lot less work later. 😂
@@GenRNmine just says “it’s clean” no matter how bad it gets 🫠
Love this! Totally agree with the basket concept, it fools your brain into seeing all those bits and bobs as just one item, thus calming the brain
Great ideas! Absolutely true about a little daily effort. I wipe down the vanity and swish the toilet every day in my bathroom. My husband and I don't share a bathroom anymore (long story) and I don't clean his bathroom (part of the long story). He ignores his toilet and vanity because he "hates dirt." Six weeks of neglect and he really has dirt to clean. One little suggestion, check to make sure foil on the bottom is ok for your oven. My oven has "DO NOT USE FOIL ON OVEN BOTTOM" embossed on the inside of the door.
Having a place for dirty laundry in the kitchen is so helpful!!! I use a little cleaning sponge and a towel for each meal and then toss it in after the dishes are washed from that meal. I absolutely love cooking in a clean kitchen and HATE cooking when it’s a disaster.
Re cleaning shower: after every use, I debulk the water with quick swipes with squeegee, then I wipe down with high quality microfiber cloths.
I also use only water and high quality microfiber for mirrors, sinks/faucets, windows, fridge, microwave, oven, etc.
If you read up on the science behind microfiber, you will learn that cleaning chemicals are not needed.
Thank you, Ariel, for motivating me to clean! I just stopped watching in the middle of your video to clean the floors (which I thought I'd end up NOT doing for at least another few weeks 😅). Still don't know how this video ends as I write, I'll finish watching it now 😂 👍
a paper coffee filter serves as a microwave splatter screen.
I can’t live without my microwave splatter guard. I found it at Dollar Tree. I do a lot of these things, but still watched the video, lol. We neat people love to hear other people talk about it! Great tips!
I got a microwave splatter guard and my husband "forgets" to use it. I mentioned it to him and he said he's too lazy 😂
@@diacrawford5587 I’m not sure my husband uses it either! 😂
Thanks for mentioning they are at Dollar Tree. I’ll put it on my list.
@@sherryg1838my husband doesn’t use it when I’m not around 😑
Yes! I do 15 minutes of cleaning a day. Amazing what you can get done in 15 minutes.
As a fellow mom who is also awkward, I really appreciate your videos. They are practical and real.
Thank you! ❤
Speed clean on commercials.
Get Sponge and brush attachments for your drill! No more scrubbing. 🎉
For my shower I hung dollar tree plastic shower curtains on 3 sides. Only leaves the faucet side to clean,(and floor). When the curtains start looking bad, i throw them away and put up a new one. Expandable spring rods and dollar tree shower curtain hoops/rings to hold them. No grout to clean or redo anymore. No soap scum or calcium build up. Loving it.
I really hope this comment receives you well and you aren't offended at all as I realise this is a hacks video and not a planet saving one. Im glad it works well for you and it's cost effective, however if just ten of the people who liked your comment, were to copy this, that is 30 more plastic curtains (assuming they're using 3 curtains each time also) that will go in the landfill. Obviously also multiply that by however many times you do this each year. Twice changing them out, with ten others along with you, at three curtains each, would be 66 plastic curtains in one year and I'm going to assume it's probably more than twice. It's definitely cost effective for you but it may not be for the planet so if it were me I probably wouldn't share the idea.
Ariel's makes sense because it's a hack but its also helping the planet, in her reusable washable cleaning cloth but also she probably uses less cleaner now since it's just a little wipe over each time instead of a big deep clean every month.
Again you do what you will but if others follow that's a lot of waste.
If you don't have kids and care about the future of their planet, keep up what your doing. Ignorance is bless
I think that's a great idea and glad it works for you! But instead of throwing them out because they're cheap, would you consider investing in a better quality that you can keep and throw in the washer with your towels? It would save you money in the long run and no waste! 😊 I actually have the best quality shower curtain from the dollar store myself, and turns out perfect in the wash everytime, and I had it for years! I may try your idea combined with mine! 😂
Maybe get the washable plastic shower curtains instead.
@ShonCon21 go and campaign to the manufacturing industry, who can actually make a difference, & leave everyone else alone.
The bathtub shower hack is a game changer. I few minutes every few days keeps it clean. I keep a little round handheld scrub brush in the shower. It holds dawn and vinegar, I do a few square feet at a time when I have a few extra minutes. Mike drop
I keep toilet bowl cleaner, bathroom disinfectant, and a rag to wipe down the sink in each bathroom so I don’t have to walk anywhere else to get them (will be getting another toilet brush). Also, inspired by Clutterbug’s tidy tote, I keep the duster, glass cleaner and old sale ads (I swear they shine glass up better than anything else, and it’s recycling!) in a bin that’s easy to carry from room to room for easier weekly cleaning.
😂I always say if I work twice as fast I get done in half the time
I havent seen a useful cleaning hacks video in a while. This one gave me some genuinely helpful ideas.
I love every video you do❤❤. That screaming goat is a hoot 😂. One little hint, I noticed you empty the top rock of your dishwasher first. Sometimes there water in cups, etc, and when you take them out, water travels to the dry dishes on the bottom rack, which you have to manually dry. Keep doing these awesome videos ❤
I have a lot of these habits in place, but a new one for me was the idea of stashing dust cloths around the house. I’m already big on spot cleaning but never spot clean by dusting for the very reason you mentioned. When I heard your suggestion, I realized that was it! If the dust cloth is handy, I’ll spot dust, as well. Thanks!
Get the splatter cover for the microwave! I never thought we needed one, but the house we rented on vacation had one, and it made SUCH a difference. I ordered one as soon as we got home.
There are oven liners that are great for catching spills. I replace mine every 2-3 years. I have a family of 7 cook 2 meals per day and run the dishwasher once a day, no need for disposable plates or utensils. When kids are old enough 4/5 they can help load and unload the dishwasher and general chores.
Take that, Olivia! 😂
I agree with everything but the robot vacuum. If you have no pets or kids they are great. Otherwise they get clogged with fur, toys, twist ties & more! You have to have NOTHING on the floor for the vacuum to work. Still doesn’t get corners & I spent $1300 on mine… it was $300 off. I only use it because I spent so much and I refuse to have a $1300 paper weight!
I love your videos and how down to earth you are. Your content is really motivating and relatable.
*PSA* It is not a good idea to put aluminum foil on the bottom of your oven. It reflects the heat back at the heating element which damages it. Oven manufacturers specifically say not to put aluminum foil on the bottom of the oven because it's a fire hazard. Nonstick oven liners are a safe alternative because they don't reflect the heat like aluminum foil.
Thank you for your videos!
Thank you. Always a pleasure to see you.
The microwave cover and boiling water are my 2 long time microwave cleaning habits!! Both are amazing!!
It’s just me and my 6 year old daughter and when we get home after work, before we can have time to relax, we wash our hands, and set a timer for 10 minutes and run around a clean. We can get so much done and it starts our evening in a tidy home free from the morning chaos. We both have AdHD so things can get crazy in. Short time. We also use bins and it is so helpful but I think I need to get some more. 🤣
I love the laughter, tips, and encouragement. Thank you.
Really love your segments.
It seems I have been decluttering for years now . I am now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel . My end goal is only have things that I use or love and have a designated home for them. I see that having less things to manage makes it so much easier .
My bins are full...😒
...
...
Time to buy more bins! 😃
Possibly also time to declutter…
Lazy habit # 15
Such a relatable comment, lmao.
😅😂😂😂
Put in storage
I've put almost any product in a pump, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, all that stuff. And somehow that helps
I started to do that, but found I'm too lazy to deal with washing out pump bottles, refilling, etc. It DOES look so much nicer than product bottles; can be left out. Definitely some pros for many people.
Convenient to pump for each use, also.
Some newer ovens come with removable bottom pans! I have bins for the fridge, even the veggie drawers. Clothes direct to washer, then run when full. Put a small sink basket/drainer on one side of the sink. Squeegee shower every time. Agree that avoiding mess to begin with is helpful. I need more catch-all baskets for each room!
Great ideas! I love the basket/bin idea. I’ve tried the “clear counter” method & it’s just not working for our family in this season with 2 littles. So I’m adding baskets for the random stuff that inevitably lands on our kitchen counter. Also a bin for my kids’ shoes!
I have a cordless vac/mop (does both at the same time if you push the lever) and it has been a lifesaver. All our main area floors are laminate tiles. Before I got this I never mopped because after I swept the floor I had no time! Now I can easily pull it out to vac up the kids crumbs and once a week I do a full vacuum & mop.
Thank you for bringing back the goat! Made my day.
I line my fridge shelves with Press and Seal....love it. I have also used inexpensive hard plastic place mats from the Dollar Store.
So practical. Thanks.
encouraging, and entertaining, thank you for not judging
Thank you!! For an actual lazy cleaning habit list. I have watched so many videos of these kinds and they’re not lazy. They sound very hard 😅!!
I've been tidy tango-ing with you most weekends now since you uploaded your first tidy tango video. It's been an absolute game changer. Thank you so much 🥳💕✨
Thank you! Needing some encouragement here. Take care
This is going to sound a bit silly, but I was really tired one day, my tub was a mess and guests were coming in like an hour. I filled up my grandma style mop bucket with the hottest water to mop. I added my usually amount of multipurpose Mr clean and randomly thought to try mopping the tub 😂 It worked so well. It was shiny and clean looking. I have been mopping my tub and shower each week and I haven’t had to properly clean it yet. It’s been like 2 months lol
This is such a great idea! i put it on my list of things to do! It would cover such a huge area as well compared to hand washing it which would save time and the right mop head would get into the nooks & crannies like grout etc. i will buy a separate mop for the tub & shower walls though because i live with a lot of cats and even after rinsing my mop well after using it on the floor it's still not some thing i would use in my tub
@@trish5805 Awesome! I hope it helps 😊 It’s definitely saving my back
This is a really good idea. I have back problems so having to lean over and scrub the tub is not something I enjoy doing! Mopping is a fantastic idea. 👏
The dollar tree hack videos often show mopping the tub with an extra mop handle and mop head from dollar tree used just for the tub. They also clean kitchen cabinets with a mop - much easier to reach using a mop.
The first tip had mee hooked. You are my kind of person.
Wow! You have been such a blessing!
Thank you so much for your video.
Thanks for the microwave hack! Much needed. I'm gonna try it tomorrow.
You actually had me laughing out loud! You are adorable and had some really great ideas! I am now a big fan!

HI, Great video. Nice to see your smiling face again. Thanks for the tips and you always make me smile. Have a very Blessed day, Love, Hilah
Love the videos and comments, lots of useful tips. 😊
This was actually so helpful. I am ordering a mop-spray and a soap dispenser right now! ❤
My first time here. Your sheep literally made me laugh out loud...twice. I need that. Just subscribed.
Love watching your videos!
Amen! First three tips... perfect
I love the idea about adding bins!!! I've been wanting to do this. Great idea.
You are a super star! Thank you ❤
Check your stove's manual before putting in a foil bottom liner. Mine specifically says not to do so. My anti-splatter microwave cover however, is used DAILY!!! Using the microwave more is a great way to decrease dishes as I can mix and cook in a Pyrex measuring cup. It has a handle which makes picking it up safer. Oh, and the microfibre mop. Consider using water rather than solution and then clean the cloth rather than putting solution on the floor. I made the switch and the floor stays cleaner longer. Let me know if it works for you.
I'm confused about the microfiber thing, so it kills bacteria? Without cleaner? I'll have to look this up, that's very interesting. I have a mop like that I didn't know it was special lol
Great tips 🥰 thank you for sharing
About the microwave: Get a splatter guard. My microwave was always splattered with sauce and it was not fun to clean. I moved in with friends for a year and they had a simple plastic splatter guard. I have never seen such a clean microwave in a lived-in home and none of us have ever done more than occasionally remove the glass turning platform and run it through the dishwasher. I will never be without one again.
Best video ever! Thank you!
Oooh, I'm definitely trying the speed cleaning hack tonight!!
I love your videos so much! Your the only CZcamsr that motivates me to get up and clean my home in a fun way ❤️
