- Shrimp and Grits is a classic dish enjoyed by many Southerners but sadly this Southern boy (Me) hasn't had proper Shrimp and Grits so today imma show you my take on Shrimp and Grits and me trying them for the first time!!!
Ingredients
1 Cup Quick Grits (5 minutes grits)
2 1/2 Cup of Chicken Broth
2 Cups Cheddar Cheese
2 Tbsp Parsley and Green Onions
4 Slices of Bacon
2 Tsp Creole Seasoning
2 Tbsp Butter
1/2 Heavy cream

You need to do some research bro! It was a staple in the gulf around Louisiana, Florida and Texas and Mississippi because shrimp was available. Grits were super cheap. Availability of grains and availability of protein.

Yeah and who lived there and bought over their own flavorful cuisine while incorporating aspect of less flavorful European cuisine? African Americans. It's called soul food, not southern.

Grits originated in the 16th Century by the Muscogee tribe in Southeast U.S., states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.
Shrimp and Grits originated as a Fisherman's breakfast in the coast of South and North Carolina.
I made this last weekend but used fish because I don’t eat shrimp, and man was it good! It was so good that I’m making it again today!
I've been making shrimp and grits for years, my fam LOVES it! This is almost exactly how I make it, too, except for the parsley which I never seem to have on hand except for the dried stuff. Thanks for posting.

Mine is close. After the bacon, I brown up some andouille sausage. Dust the shrimp with this combo (1/4c corn starch; 2 Tbsp ‘slap yo momma’, 1 Tbsp Dan-o’s original; 1Tbsp paprika, 1 tsp dried ground sage, 1 tsp garlic powder) I dump all my spices in a zip loc. close and shake, then add your peeled deveined shrimp…also I cut my shrimp in half, so they are more bite size. Add and shake the shrimp. Brown them up and place on wire rack to keep them a tad crispy and the seasoning doesn’t come off. I use heavy cream and 1Tbsp chicken ‘better than bullion’ base. I make my grits with just water. I cook them until they are VERY dry. I add my cheddar cheese and 1/2 c. Parmesan. Liberally pepper just before plating up

Ive never had shrimp and grits but I wanna try this recipe. As for cajun seasoning, is Slap Yo Momma a good choice or no or what brand do you recommend or anything that says cajun seasoning?
Trying to season my vegan shrimp for my grits and I have vegan bacon oh yeah it's on and popping❤❤ what can I substitute the cream with?
I use almond milk and add a couple of pinches of flower

There’s honestly not a recipe all I did was add approximately 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the pan that I cooked my shrimp and bacon in.
