89 and so serenely beautiful still. I think the chimps and gorillas could always sense her gentle spirit.
When I firdt saw her, it was on National Geographic! Doctor Leakey an Amazing Anthropologists encouraged her to study Chimpanzees . She was so Young, and I thought so Beautifull !! What a Courageous, Intelligent Women!! Her Work will go down in History, as much as Charles Darwin. To this Day I would Love to Speak to this Genuis with a Heart full of Understanding for 5 minutes, as I am sure Millions of People would love to do! What Treasure She is to the World of Science, and to Humanity!
We humans do also 😀
Your comment has my in tears. Animals can sense a beautiful soul.
I just love her so much! She is an amazing woman. I love how she is still a take charge kind of woman even at 89 and she always tells you like it is. She doesn't do sarcasm just like animals.
@@TheOfficialTarynTots 🙏🏼
One of the most important people still living on our planet. This woman is a superhero.
An awesome way to put it.
why do you regard her as a superhero ?
@@Shaolin-JesusI guess the protection of life?
She was one of my heroes when I was a little kid in the 70's...
And she still is.
Me too. She is pure class, brilliance, kindness, everything the leaders of our society isn't. We are looking to the wrong people to guide us.
She spoke in Asheville, NC several years ago. I was able to take my daughters to see her. It was absolutely a highlight of life. She was so gracious and kind in the way she spoke. She was very positive. She talked a lot about how we could save the environment if we would use our brains and resources in the right way.
Looking back, it was the polar opposite of an iQ45 MAGATS rally.
@@wildflower1397you're absolutely right. There's so many great man, women and we're always focusing on the wrong ones.
Mine too, bur I was not a little kid.
Yes. ❤️
Miss Jane. What a story, what a life. She's is one of the truly great ones. And so humble about her accomplishments. I've loved watching her, reading her books, listening to her.
And don't forget her Roots and Shoots program for school age kids--teaching them about compassion for all animals and veganism. 😍🐣
I love what you said, totally agree. She's the reason my degree is in Anthropology.
Agreed 💯. ❤❤
My hero ! She is so important.
She has been my hero all my life. She is a gift to the world, love her dearly.
Love her, tears in my eyes ❤️
I was always fascinated by her, but love her even more now that she is vegan.
very high energy. just a beautiful energy.
She's incredible and natural. She has a good sense of humor!😁
Agree!!!
Yeah, I love her sense of humor and the way she interacted with Jimmy.
I’ve been in awe of her since I was a young boy and still to this day, she continues to be one of the most extraordinary women ever.
Can’t believe she’s 89! What an inspiration to us all
I saw her this morning in The Today Show, yes, extraordinary indeed.
I've loved her since I was a kid, (many years ago).
A true hero, scientist & woman! 🐵♥️
Same! And love her even more since she became vegan for all animals. 😍🐣
This is a living legend.
What an incredible woman.
Love Jane!! Child of the sixties, captivated watching her on national geographic. My hero ❤
We have a brain that can help us to choose are we going to be mean. or nice? Unfortunately, people don't use the brain enough in that regard. Jane is a national treasure. ❤️ 🦍
Jimmy introduced her as "an international treasure", so she might not appreciate the demotion you gave her.
@@ericminch I think she could forgive the misspeaking ;)
I simply love her. I grew up watching her in the news, seeing her documentaries and reading her books. Such a kindness that we do not see too often in this thing we call life anymore. I will always be in awe.
We all love you, Jane. Animals are great & part of mother earth. Alot of people forget that. The more people I meet the more I like my cat & dog.
You say "animals are great" but holding what looks like a dead fish in your profile picture. 🤷 Jane Goodall loves all animals and is vegan, by the way.
@@PleaseDontEatAnimals
True but the fish I go after are predator fish.
I do it twice a year & catch Only what I need.
I'm not a comercial fisherman. Jane is vegan but chimps are not. Have a great weekend.
@@florocks7761 Not trying to be combative, but are there other things that you do twice a year that are cruel but you think because you only do it two times a year it's justified? (If someone abused their dog or child twice a year, would that be okay?)
Predators can't help that they are carnivorous, but humans don't have to be predators/carnists. Everything we need to live a long and healthy life is available in plant-based form. As a matter of fact, studies show that vegans live on average 6 to 10 years longer than flesh eaters. We can all choose to be as kind as Jane Goodall.
She truly is an example of an OG. There aren't too many people like her, who even though they get seriously discounted by others, say whatever I'm going to do me anyways, AND prove everyone wrong.
What's an "OG"? An old granny?
@@ericminchoriginal
Pioneer.
Such an inspiring woman , and with a good sense of humor as well .. very enjoyable and I could listen to you talk to her for 3 hours lol
I feel so lucky to have been able to meet her at a book signing and speaking event at our local natural history museum when I was a very young child. I begged my parents to take me because I'd read some of her books, and I still consider that experience as one of the best in my life and treasure the autographed books I have from her 💜
That must’ve been awesome!
Your parents love you
I met her at a very small gathering at a chimpanzee sanctuary. My 88 and 89 year old parents were there and they still talk about it. She was so present with each person as if the only other person in the room. Fascinating life.
How wonderful for your parents and for you. I had the opportunity as a child, to meet and interact with “Peggy” and “Sputnik”, in Florida; they were chimps who were going to space. They lived in their own little trailer and it was a TRIP for me, as a little kid. When I think about it now, it pisses me off that chimpanzees were used for space missions.
@@cathithomas2888 what we learn over the years…
And yes a moment to remember for all of us. 💜
Jane is such a phenomenal person! I wish I could meet her.
I have looked up to this amazing woman my whole life - still incredible! ❤❤❤
She is such a facinating and obviously very bright and with it woman.
Good ole Jane.
What a national treasure.
International.
Jane "Good Ole" 😀 One of my very favorite vegans.
Jane Goodall. The real queen of the jungle ❤️ 👑🐵🐵🐵🐒🐒
i grew up on Tarzan AND Bomba novels ..
What a humble and noble lady. Love her.
My one and only idol and a shining example for all humanity!!!!
Love❤
And she cares not only about humanity and the planet, but also all animals and is now vegan. ♥️🐣
❤️She’s a wonderful woman❤️
She’s like a female David Attenborough.
@@loganmalough2379Yes!! You Hit The Nail, On The Head!!!!!👌
@@loganmalough2379no, David attenborough is like male Jane Goodall.
Yes, a real trailblazer and also vegan because she loves all animals. 😍
This nature queen, she's immensely inspirational for girls to tackle new thought and research.
She’s amazing I always looked up to her
The most awesome lady of our time. May love and light surround her always.
Jane talking about her supportive mom reminds me of my mom. I love her so much. I don't know where I would be without her love and support.
I have nothing but the deepest admiration for this incredible woman ,she’s everything i would to be and try to be .
She deserves a more serious interviewer she is a remarkable women and still beautiful inside and out ,such a credit to her species and a example for all of us
exactly!!
Jimmy is not the right person for this.
She’s done PLENTY with more serious interviewers and questions. The fact she does ONE that leans to the silly side of things should absolutely not be a negative but a positive. She wouldn’t have agreed if she didn’t want to, let her live her life and make her own choices. This was awesome to see to so many people having her playing into the silliness while being serious at the same time. Gem of a human being ❤
It doesn’t need to be that serious I think it was an entertaining and fun interview!
What an honour to have her on the show!
Would love to see an interview between her and Attenborough
This was so tender and charming. She is my hero. What a night on your show! My hero and my crush.
I've loved her since I was a kid in the 70's...I thought she was crazy cool to live out in the jungle with tons of orangatans/apes?
How gutsy! and the way they co-habitated, and u can't make eye contact, or only briefly. But I just love her ✌️💓
I was a kid in the '70s too and feel the same. She was a trailblazer-- especially being so young and being a woman doing something so novel in that time. Love her even more since she's vegan and cares about all animals. 😍🐣
Always been fascinated with her story living in the wild to study chimpanzees, what a extraordinary life. She is so humble and smart.
She was around 60, and looked much the same, at my college graduation in '92. I'm so old.
I wanted to say the same thing!! I swear 30 years ago, she looked EXACTLY like this, and it reminded me of a fav. Twilite Zone episode, a couple of 'em, actually..but I just have admired her since I was a kid in the 70's..lol
I think her veganism is helping her stay young--plus she just seems young at heart.
Thanks Ms Goodall. I have watched you my whole life. Or close to it.
You are a committed soul and scientist. My favorite combination. 😘
Watching her films in Grade School was always a delight. She is loved all over the world. Such a wonderful woman.
*Sharp as a tack for 89. good for her*
Yes! Possibly it is her vegan diet keeping her sharp... I read a study that said vegans have on average a 10-point higher IQ than flesh eaters.
She is such a beautiful soul.....
Still living a wonderful life....
No one else quite like her
A life dedicated to animals, what a dream
Yes, chimps are her favorite, but she loves all animals and is vegan. ♥️🐣
Jane seems like a very serene person. You can see it in her face.
"It is not our intelligence that separates us from other animals, because as a species we're really not that intelligent. It is our insight." -Jane Goodall
Listening to Jane always reminds me of how humans have wasted our evolutionary capabilities in many ways. Those who spend their lives with other mammals have such a great understanding of life and the connection between us and other animals. Jane doesn’t discuss politics and all the nonsense that consumes the media landscape. She is authentic and honest and just a beautiful person. I wish more people like her existed in the celebrity sphere because we need more of that.
Jimmy knows he's outclassed in every way here, and he deals with it very nicely.
Tremendous respect for this woman. 🙏🏻
She is so above trivial things, but gentle and understanding. What a lovely lady, what an incredible life. She is an inspiration.
I read about Jane when I was 9, and I'm 33 now. Still remember her books and think her view of the world helped me appreciate nature and the world we live in. Her and Steve Irwin, rip....well couple others but she's a legend
What an absolutely incredible person. How could anyone not admire her?
I had a chance to meet her once when I was in grade school. Super nice lady. I'm glad she is still doing great and active in her old age. Loves people and animals, she's great.
Love her! ❤
She is a true angel on Earth. What a beautiful person she is.
I would like to stay as active as her when I am 89.
I know, she looks great, doesn't she? Maybe being vegan is keeping her young.
Jane Goodall and David Attenborough my heroes
Mine too.
Great interview. I’ve been watching/listening to Jane Goodall since I was in middle school in the 80’s. I admire her work and the dedication to her work aka passion throughout the decades I’ve been following her and wish the lady nothing but the very best. 👍👍
Jane Goodall is one of my life heroes. She is a beautiful, inspirational, brilliant woman. What an incredible honor and gift to be in the audience! God bless you for your lives work, commitment and love. 💜🙏🏻

Jane telling Jimmy to be serious! 🤩🥰🤣
Beautiful! 🌈☀ such an inspiration
What a treasure this dear and daring woman is for the entire world.
I have read her books and this is a wonderful person who we should all learn from...peace.
I really wish we all had such an encouraging mother (or father)...not all of us are so lucky and it really does make a difference. So impressed with this woman for following her life long passion so she could educate others... and for her mom for giving her that confidence to do so.
Someone please upload a small film of her returning a Chimp to the wild out of a crate, it goes , pauses, returns to her and hugs her! Say it all!!
She is such a treasure. I remember doing a project about her back in elementary school. She is so inspiring and has accomplished so much.
Oh man. The GOAT!!! I used to love reading books about her in elementary school.

THIS is why Kimmel is the 🐐 of talkshow hosts.
Every guest is an experience and adventure that he explores with the viewer. It isn't solely about pop culture as he genuinely engages them with his silly humor. Love this!
Example of gentleness and kindness at its best
What a wonderful guest and interview. Thank you Jane. And thank you Jimmy.
Jimmy you have the best guests from all walks of life! I have admired Jane and fell in love with apes of all kinds since I was a child. If you’ve ever looked deeply into the eyes of any of these incredible primates you will see the intelligence they possess. Thank you Jane 🙏
I have admired this woman and her incredibly meaningful work since I was a kid. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She is gently brilliant. So much content in her words. And wisdom.
I’ve met her many times back in the 90s in Tanzania. Always gracious ❤

This the kinda celebrity we need. Just so interesting listening to her 💖
Wow. I'm in awe of her. I've known about her since I was young but I never heard her speak or anything, I'm happy Jimmy Kimmel had her on.
What an icon! I met her last week she was on a visit to Uganda. She inspires me to grab opportunities with both hands and best of all to support and encourage my girls and their dreams❤
Thank you for having her on, what an incredible woman!!🙌
For right now I am learning about Jane Goodall during English class.
mad respect for this woman. such dignity.
I remember learning about her in this book I read in 3rd grade I’m officially a 9th grader today and she just popped up in my head.
I admit to my ignorance in meeting our exec director, Bill Barnes' cousin, George Schaller, when he came out to NY to spend time with Bill. One of our students was very deep into biology, so Bill asked George to spend some class time with her.
Was it Gorillas In The Mist where Jane was quoting Schaller?
I'm ashamed of being so close to ppl so significant, yet so ignorant as to their contributions.
Julie Harris was our Honorary director. She raised funds twice by performing Currer Belle and Driving Miss Daisy at our scale model auditorium of the Helen Hayes Theater.
Harvey Kurtzman would help his wife, Adele, raise funds in silent auctioning cartoon cells from all the well-known cartoonists.
Thank you, Jane.
Wow I am so delighted Jane Goodall chose to honour Jimmy Kimmel with her presence, what a kind and legendary woman !
Jane Goodall has been my idol since I was around 8 or 9 years old (at the moment of writing this comment I am now 36) and I have dreamt of being an ethologist all my life. She has inspired me tol follow my dreams, my intuition and my heart. Thank you Jane for being you!
